How Will You React If We Lose To Pittsburgh?

What would really kill the media bashing us if we were to beat them in the playoffs. Sure, a regular season win would help but nothing would be like beating them in the playoffs. We could sweep them in the regular season and the media would still probably favor the Steelers a little if we were matched up against them in the playoffs.

Thats what i was trying to say. LOL IM not great with message boards yet.

I don't care what anyone says losing week 1 against steelers will have lingering effect. The way we lost that playoff game then to have them come to our house and beat us again that wouldn't be good. If we lose I got a feeling we will be playing on the road again in the playoffs because the bengals and browns are not beating the steelers. So in my opinion week 1 is for the division.

I will agree with the Jets. They get more smoke blown up their [profanity deleted] than a stage at a rock concert. But I would say Green bay after the SB.

it got alot worse after the superbowl.....but even before the media would bring up rodgers all the time as being this TOP 5 QB even though imo (untill last year) he hadnt earned the right even to be considered

and the chargers and cowboys get chosen by all these commentators every year to meet in the superbowl even though they dont even get close every year

the patriots havent won a playoff game since 2007......in that span the steelers have been to two superbowls....yet every year we hear "are the patriots the team to beat"

if the steelers win the superbowl this year we would have outmatched the pats in success over these past two decades but we will still hear "are the pats the team to beat"

i personally wouldnt go this far.....but many steelers fans actually feel that we are hated in the media and the league and frequently are ignored or punished

and i see (as a steelers fan) why they feel that way but i dont think its intentional

alot of fan bases probably feel that way

Well, I know there will be lots of swearing, probably some blaming of the officials as well. There is certainly a wide range of emotions I could go through depending on how the game was played. If its close and we almost pull it off, I'll feel sick but then at least I know we have some upside and hope for a good season. If we get dominated then I will just be very angry and looking for someone to blame.

In all honesty, though, the Steelers are 1-5 vs Brady. Until you beat NE in the playoffs, the perception will remain the same.

Kind of like Flacco vs. Roethlisberger...

Agreed.

In 2010 they lost to the Jets.
In 2009 they lost to the Ravens. :)
In 2008 they didn't make it to the playoffs.
In 2007 they lost to the Giants.
In 2006 they lost to the Colts.
In 2005 they lost to the Broncos.

That's a pleasurable streak. I hope that it continues!

Im sure ill be pissed, but will not be surprised honestly. If we win i will be surprised and very very happy.
But ive looked at the schedule and have scratched that one as a loss and maybe we win the other against them.

I would be surprised. Now that Mattison isn't holding out defense back with prevent defense, I am very excited to see Pagano and his boys unleash fury on the steelers make shift o line.

Covered my bases this year, went out & got a large punching bag. That was I can punch out my frustrations verses the normal yelling, screaming, and desire to throw things lol

I would be better off with a punching bag than holes in my ceiling and walls to patch!

I would be disappointed, because I always like first game wins, and we are playing the steelers so I would be even more down if we lose.

its just week 1. Depends on how bad it is.
I agree that it would depend on the circumstances of the loss, if a loss to Pittsburgh were to occur.

Every loss to Pittsburgh leaves me feeling worse than a loss to any other team (save for the Eagles), but there's been some losses to the Steelers that I've recovered quicker from than others.

There'll definitely be some level of anger since this is an important game, but I won't be punching holes in walls if it's a close loss in a great game, or if it's a blowout loss that occurs due to freak injuries across the entire depth chart.

I seem to recover better from losses where they destroy us (because those are usually expected) than giving them a game we should have dominated, or a last-second loss...

I'll be disappointed, but completely unsurprised. It's not as though it is a rare occurence... like an earthquake in virginia, for instance.

Well after the 1st 2 preseason games I said they weren't ready for the Steelers, so it wouldnt upset me really. As long as they don't do idiotic things to give it away

Whoever wins will set the tone for the whole year IMO. I mean if we lose then the only way to counter that is to beat them in Pittsburgh. I feel we need to beat them week 1 and set the tone that were not messing around and were serious. We need to beat them because we need to win the division and get home field advantage. If we get home field advantage Idk who could beat us in playoffs.

how about people stop posting stuff like this,we will win games,.no reason to freak out like the fair weather fans if we do lose a couple games,im really tired of people bashing and criticizing ravens as a whole and people post stuff about "IF" or"Should we be "concered" dont post that no one wants to see it not the real fans anyhow, its also only 1 game.
What's the definition of a "real fan"?

i will question every move we made in the offseason.
i will hate on all the coaches and the players.
i will send oz to hell.

i will....oh wait, we are not eagles fans....

i know people will go crazy on this forum if that happens. for me it doesn´t change much. a loss against a team that played in the sb last year and didn´t change at all isn´t a big concern to me...

I cant speak for the OP but I took this as a thread he/she made so we can have a little fun with ourselves. Some pretty funny comments in here so far and I think he/she was just making a thread to poke some fun at ourselves and others! Calm down bud, pretty sure most people on these forums are real ravens fans(besides the few well known steelers fans around).

If we get blown out its usually because there were major failures across all 3 phases of the game, a kick returned for a TD, and couple fumbles/turnovers, and the defense gave up some big plays in the passing game or we missed tackles

We usually play the Steelers close...in both the games we lost last year to them we had the lead and fell apart

you can figure that one out

Well, you're the one that called people out and referred to yourself as a "real fan", so I was curious as to what your definition was of said phrase.

Alright, let's cool it on our discussion of real fans vs. fake fans and all that mess.

Fact is, we're ALL RAVENS fans here and we all bleed purple.

Let's get back on-topic about the Steelers game and our reactions (both humorous and serious) if the Ravens hypothetically lose to Pittsburgh in Week 1.

Same with me. If it's a blow-out from the start I can usually get over it by the time the 4th quarter starts and have no more anger by the time the game ends. If it's a last drive type of loss it would be terrible. There's nothing worse than the feeling of being so close and failing and seeing you have to start all over.

Now to the topic:

I would be devastated to be honest. I'm far from a "fair-weather fan" or whatever you call it, but I would be really angry. Even though it's just week one, like so many other posts said, this will set the tone for our season. It's always good to win your first game of the season. This would be twice as sweet doing it against a team that's had our number. It would give us confidence as a team and a fan-base but more importantly, it will give Joe confidence. A highly confident Joe going through the season knowing he just beat the quarterback he never could beat would be just scary for opposing teams. A lot of people on the board don't want to admit it's a huge game by saying "it's only the first week I wouldn't be that angry" because they're afraid that it's a possibility that we can lose. The Ravens, the Steelers and the fans of both teams KNOW that this is a huge game, even if they wont admit it.
