How Will You React If We Lose To Pittsburgh?

148 posts in this topic

Another thread made me think of this, but I am once again sick over our loss to Pittsburgh in the playoffs. Mostly due to the lead we had just being picked away the entire 2nd half.
During the off-season I have been able to forget this loss. Now the thought of seeing the black and gold in Baltimore in a couple weeks has brought back the memories.

I will not be at this game (for the first time ever) since my son's first football game is also that same day. This is probably a good thing.

But considering we ended our season losing to the Steeler's and to possibly open the following season losing to the Steeler's is more than my stomach can handle right now.

whew......

You couldnt create a more important week 1 game for a team. It all depends on how we played and what had us not win the game. But I will be upset

In all honesty we have to be prepared for the possibility. They have our number and have had our number for a while now. Doesnt mean we cannot hope that we will beat them and we know that either way we will give them a fight. So long as we do not "bone head" it and lose a 14 point lead in the second half or some other idiot nonsense, I will be fine, wildly upset but fine.

surprised. we were better than Pitt last year until the 4th quarter. if we cant finish them off this year, especially with the additions we made, i'd be surprised.

Season will be over. No need to practice or go on to game 2. We'd suck.

Then if we win three straight. We'll be unstoppable, Superbowl Champs.

If we win 8 straight, I say they can just crown us at that point and end the season! : P

i will question every move we made in the offseason.
i will hate on all the coaches and the players.
i will send oz to hell.

i will....oh wait, we are not eagles fans....

i know people will go crazy on this forum if that happens. for me it doesn´t change much. a loss against a team that played in the sb last year and didn´t change at all isn´t a big concern to me...

It wouldnt be so bad than losing to them later in the season and it meaning the difference of home field etc like last year. Our win against them last year basically ended up not being that meaningful after 4 weeks but I truely think we can win this one without a doubt we have a much more complete team this year after seeing what we lacked. read through this article on Sportsnation made me laugh at this steeler fan,

Matt (Pittsburgh)

Ray, do you ever think to yourself how much better your career would have been to be drafted somewhere besides Baltimore? It must be tough knowing you have no Super Bowl chance considering you are in the same conference as the Steelers, and have never beat Ben Roethlisberger.

Oh man. That would be the day. Might as well just stop the season early. No playoffs necessary.

To say that losing to Pitt week 1 at the bank wouldn't make me sick to my stomach, or upset and disappoint me would be a total lie. We all know how important of a game this is. It will be a playoff atmosphere to start off the season with the winner making a statement in the division to start off the year. Now will it be the end of our season? Absolutely not. However, It will most likely make the match up at Heinz field a whole lot more important. We CAN NOT afford to be swept by PIttsburgh and we def. can't afford to lose to Cincy and Cleveland.

Also: The most annoying thing that will happen if we lose to Pittsburgh will be the whole "Joe Flacco can't beat Pittsburgh when Ben is playing" argument will continue. Which personally, I don't understand seeing how they play on the same side of the ball. It doesn't matter if Roethlisberger or Kyle Boller is at quarterback. Joe still has to play the same defense.

Badly. The most popular question that people ask of us right now is "Are we capable of beating Pittsburgh?" and this is as good a chance as we need to silence some of the people asking the questions.

Also, the result of this game will most likely determine the media conception of Flacco for the majority of the season. If we win then I expect a lot of the media will begin to talk about him in a much more positive light. If we lose then I expect the media's opinion will either stay as it is or get worse.

Honestly, if Joe doesn't beat Ben and the Steelers in Week 1, I don't know that he ever will... enough is enough!

It will put a damper on the first half of the season, thats for sure. Were the better team. If we lose, ill be ultimately disapppointed. Flacco has never beat Pitt with Ben starting. Thats all he has to do. PItts D has murdered Flacco in the past. And thats really his biggest obstacle.

This is the chance Joe shows us and the rest of the haters is that he belongs in the conversation of elite QB.

If we lose, u won't find me on here for awhile cuz I'll be seeking anger management elsewhere.......

IMO, this game is definitely bigger for us than Pitts.

To win, all we will hear is, "It was only the first game."
But to lose, everyone will question our player releases, if Joe will ever be an elite qb, can we EVER be Pitts.

So, to shake it off as a regular game is ludicrous. I think this is a must win! For the team's psyche...possibly one of the most important regular season games of the year.

its just week 1. Depends on how bad it is.
Honestly I'll be more upset for guys like Joe Flacco who will have to hear once again how he cant beat Pittsburgh from guys on this board and Jaimie Dukes (sp?)

We always play the Steelers tough, this one will be no different...but I think we have a very good chance at winning just as we did last year. The Steelers OL is worse than ours, and their secondary can be thrown on.....
