Ya, I woulda been pissed if I missed it. Even though it's terrifying, it's such a weird experience. Never been in one in my life.
It is rather surreal.

'11 the year I experienced my first significant earthquake.
'10 my first hurricane evacuation.
'09 my first experience with wildfires...

[sub]yeah looks like we will feel no aftershocks...still fault lines are becoming more active lately it seems[/sub]
Doubt we'll feel any aftershocks up here in PA.

Friend of mine got stuck on the Maryland side of 301 because they shut the bridge down to check on it.

I think I've heard of this before... isn't it from New York to the Carolinas or something?
Yup, sure is.

USGS: Aftershocks could go on for days, weeks, months. They’re most likely to be felt in the next 3 or 4 days #quakereports #earthquake

Puts a whole new twist on the "sky is falling" cliche! Yeah I don't need an encore of aftershocks, the first show was good enough for me!!

The news peeps said MD has teams out assessing all the bridges...tallest ones first.

Figures it takes an earthquake to make the impending hurricane all but forgotten, no?

I just got off the phone with my brother over in Davidsonville - he said he felt it at the catering business where he works in Edgewater, startling to him. According to him, it felt like a large boat hit the building.

Nope. I live in nothern virginia and it was a pretty big tremor. We evacuated and missed the last 30 minutes of school and now theyre closing tomorrow to thoroughly inspect the building. We get out for like a quarter inch of snow here though haha

A cheap vase fell on the floor at my house. It didn't break but I still needed to pick it up. A little Red Cross support would be nice.

That is funny, but apparantly there was a some legit damage. The Washington Monument has a 4 foot crack in it now.

In other news, I'm reading that Chinese scientists use snakes to predict earthquakes.

I was at work in my 11 story building in bethesda during the quake. It's a rather unsettling feeling when a 11 story building starts wobbling like a Jenga Puzzle.

Out here we are still getting aftershocks from an Easter Sunday 7.1 mag that we had well over a year ago.
