All I want to know is... will we get to see him on the field Thursday night? I mean, he's gotta get in shape. What better way than game-action?

Not a lot of time to learn the playbook. Better jump in that fire ASAP!
Haha 0% chance. There's a walkthrough tomorrow, so he wouldn't even have a single practice under his belt since last season.

Aren't we like only 2.5 under and we signed him for 3.7? Does that mean Ngata is almost done?
Well I'm not sure how the cap works, but it's a max of 3.75 if he reaches all the incentives. If he doesn't reach any incentives then it's only 0.5 per year. I guess he would still have to pass the physical to get that though.

Bryant McKinnie deal's is worth a maximum of $7.5 million and includes a $1 million bonus, per a league source.

oh dear
That's over 2 years and probably mostly incentives. If we pay him 7.5 million, it'll mean he was well worth it.

If that report is true, then we may have our next Ogden. Move Oher back to RT, Yanda to RG and keep Grubbs at LG. I'd cry tears of joy. And I really think the Ngata deal is close to being finished. And even if it is close to being finished, there's not much else we'd have to shop for. We got Evans and our CB's were solid against the Chefs. I really hope this guy is healthy because I'd probably do the cabbage patch in celebration.

I hope he can still play at LT and maybe next draft we can draft a LT. Sorry people there needs to be a sequel to The Blind Side and we can call it "Moved to the Right Side"!

Haha ya I was going to but this bleeping Squeelers fan picked him in the spot right before me. He also chose the Ravens Defense, Anquan and another Raven and didn't take any steelers. I don't think they are as confident as we are for this season.

Wasn't McKinnie ripped apart and shredded by media and Vikings critics all last season at LT? Not to mention getting ripped apart on the field?

huh....assuming McKinnies in shape:

McKinnie Grubbs Birk Yanda Oher?

Sure, I'll take it!! Again, I was AGAINST bringing this dude in, but I can only assume hes back down weight wise and therefore this could really work!!

I mean this doesnt really have that much clout, Donovan Mcnabb got shrouded by philadelphia fans even in the 3 straight years to the NFC championship game and the super bowl so just because the media doesnt like you doesnt mean he cant be a good player

To be fair the Browns went, what, 5/11 last year, and the Bengals were 4/12? Of course we're going to be the strongest division opponent.

And frankly we need to slow our roll on Mickinnie. If he's solid, great, but by no means am I expecting Ogden 2.0...

Calm down dude. Its a good signing, but you seem to really overrate the guy.

Lets not forget he reported to TC 55(?) pounds overweight less than a month ago.

Totally agree, but it all depends on what shape he is in when he arrives. Big Willy Anderson was 368 when we signed the vet to play the right side, you can have a fatter guy on the right side of the line. So if McKinnie is in good shape, he has played LT and played it very well. But, if he isn't back all the way then they have to put him in the less physical position.

You have:

Oher, Grubbs, Birk, Yanda, McKinnie

OR

McKinnie, Grubbs, Birk, Yanda, Oher

They both look much better than the line we had been seeing and we have some quality depth behind our guys now, they have really adressed this OL situation. Quality starters and even quality depth.

Was at 385 entering camp, plays usually(last season) at 360, currently projected at 345-350.

If that's the case and hes remotivated.. with Miami alum Ray and Ed to keep him in check, could be little risk high reward.

I dont cre if they have to cart his fat a$$ in on a crane, as long as he protects the QB nd opens holes for the RBs

I saw 386 (as opposed to just under 400) so it's not that hard to believe. If you just recently put the weight on, it's easy to lose it fast. Especially if you're that heavy.

Starting or at least being a depth in LT. Bryant has been a LT his whole life. Absolutely no way of him being a RT.

Bryant on LT, Oher in RT. BEASTLY

love it. just dont get how you can question a no risk high reward signing. He's overweight or fails his physical, he's gone and were all right back to debating if Reid can start week one or if itll be Levoir. nothing changes we can only get better. Much like Mcadoo, he acts like a jacka** we cut him, he works his butt off and progresses we've found another diamond in the rough. I was comfortable with our team before a few of these signings so you cant blame ozzie for going out and signing guys like this. They stink we cut them, they pan out ozzie looks like a genius.
Good post. He is a low risk high reward signing. Yeah, it may make us look desperate, but who cares what others think? Just win, baby...

The only risk is if we have to cut/trade someone - like Foxworth, Cousins (:)) or Tavaris Gooden - for cap space + the salary - and, if Big Bryant doesn't work out... we'll have cut them for nothing.

I still think it's a good move. We needed OLine talent, and a 350 lb McKinnie is talent.

Either way, Ozzie wouldnt have pulled the trigger if he (McKinnie) hadnt handled it already. I expect him to be ready to go!

I trust Oz, so I just know this is going to be a great move. Plus with Ray Lewis vouching for him so much, you gotta know that Ray will be in his ear to make sure that he doesn't make Ray look stupid for being so confident in him. Plus I think Ed, and maybe Ray too, played with Mckinnie at the U so they probably convinced Oz that they could keep him motivated and out of trouble. I trust Oz and our FO because they don't screw around and generally tend to stick with high character players.

Why is there no way he can play RT? Last season he was a poor LT, Oher was better pretty much anyway you slice it. We are going to field the best possible O-line we can so that may mean Oher at LT and McKinnie at RT or the other way around. We just have to wait and see how he looks.
