Bryant McKinnie To Ravens

434 posts in this topic

If McKinnie comes in and gets a Ravens mindset and works his (expletive) off, he can be Pro Bowler again. But its a big IF, because like everybody said, he came into camp at 400 pounds, and that was 3 weeks ago. He claims hes been working hard to get into shape, but we shall see.

Wow.... Rotoworld is calling us "desperate" with this signing.

Headline: "Desperate Ravens sign ex-Vikings LT McKinnie"
In all honesty, its not to far off from the truth. This week we signed two offensive linemen, and one of them is already taking 1st team snaps. I think this team loves the future prospect of Reid, but they aren't ready to have him go right now. Cousins is bad.

Depth is depth...we need anyone that can help to fix the deteriated O-Line. We'll see how he performs in the training camp and the preseason. If the O-line is buying good amount of time, Joe definitely find 1 of our fast recievers.

This just seems like a weird deal. I'm going to hold my opinions on this until after (if) he actually passes his physical and the Ravens officially sign him and then make their roster/depth chart moves. We were just reading today about how much of a steal this guy LeVoir could turn out to be, and Oher held his own last week against Tamba Hali, I really was just starting to get used to this projected starting lineup and feeling comfortable. Now I just don't know what to think.

If he passes the physical test, with 1 day training tomorrow can we let him trying for LT for the Redskins game though? I want to see....

No way. Not only has he not practiced with us, he hasn't practice with anybody this offseason yet. He'd be injured the moment the ball was first snapped.

Like Sim said. There is no way he's playing in the next game. The guy hasn't been in training camp at all. I don't want to pay the man and see him go down for the year 1 day later.

I think if we weren't playing the Steelers Week 1 Reid might get the start. That Week 1 game is not just any Week 1 game after all. Steelers pass rush is one of the best and not sure Reid can get up to speed by Week 1.

Well, he wanted 2.5 base with heavy incentives, so we have no clue how much of that he might get.

pending physical.. if he passes the physical this seems like a solid deal. We ARE desperate at this point and the big fella could be an awesome acquisition.

I certainly hope we arent paying him 3M+ a year...that just seems nonsensical. I'm going to withold judgement until I actually see him on the practice field and in an actual game though. Maybe he has worked himself back into shape...

If he passes his physical he is an excellent tackle. $3 million is a steal if he plays the way he has so far in his career. I just want to know how they will use him. If they ask him to play RT I don't know how quickly he can pick that up. He's been a LT his whole career as far as I know.

It shouldnt be hard for him to make the switch to RT, but he has been a player in decline the past couple years.

Never hurts to add a player from the 02 Canes. Relatively low risk.... high reward move right here. I think this can work out very well for us.

Lt. Oher Lg. Grubbs C. Birk RG. Yanda RT. Mckinney or Reid... sounds like a good O line to me if it pans out like they hope

love it. just dont get how you can question a no risk high reward signing. He's overweight or fails his physical, he's gone and were all right back to debating if Reid can start week one or if itll be Levoir. nothing changes we can only get better. Much like Mcadoo, he acts like a jacka** we cut him, he works his butt off and progresses we've found another diamond in the rough. I was comfortable with our team before a few of these signings so you cant blame ozzie for going out and signing guys like this. They stink we cut them, they pan out ozzie looks like a genius.

The physical is still pending. I doubt we'll take him if he's still pushing 400. If we do, our training/conditioning staff has a lot of work to do.

All I want to know is... will we get to see him on the field Thursday night? I mean, he's gotta get in shape. What better way than game-action?

Not a lot of time to learn the playbook. Better jump in that fire ASAP!

I'm curious how he fits under the cap. I think that means we will have to "borrow" against next year's cap unless Ngata's deal gets done. The best part of this move is having a veteran who can play LT in case anything happens to Oher. I highly doubt he will start at LT unless Oher is injured, but then again maybe getting cut and being given a second chance by a SB contender will light a fire under his butt.

I will pass judgement after I hear the firs report out of training camp. I could go eaither way. As of now, low risk high reward.... sounds good to me.

Welcome Bryant McSkinny
