It's a 2 year deal for a total of 4 million dollars. Nice pickup!

We were 2.5M uder the cap and signed two olinemen earlier this week. It has been reported that McKinnie wanted 2.5M plus incentives. If the Ravens signed him anywhere close to his asking price, they will be over the cap. I know if you go over the cap after a signing, you have 24 hours to get to or back under the cap. With that being said, who is set to be cut or traded? Carr or Foxworth to the Giants? What do you guys think? All in all another move will be made in the next 24 hours.
obviously the Ravens didnt spend themselves over the cap

Ozzie and the front office wouldnt be in business very long....i'm sure we have to cut someone else to make him fit on the roster..i mean like waive a rookie free agent, not cut someone on the team already

Signing Ngata long term will give us more cap space. Deal is probably close to being done. That or we lowballed McKinnie enough to squeeze him in under the cap.

It's a gamble. Oz is rolling the dice on this one. But I think they've seen enough and believe that the Steelers are going to feast on us if we go out there with Reid or Cousins out of the gate.

Hopefully this guy is done taking his career for granted after being kicked to the curb. Seeing money go down the drain.

Agreed. This is a chance for McKinnie to revive his career, and I think that he will play well for us, on either side of the o-line.

I'm fine with the move as long as Ozzie okay with it, we'll be waiving someone to make room for McKinnie....maybe James Hardy since he's always injured....even tho he did just come back from injury today

Ozzie is one of, if not the best evaluator of talent in the league and theres no way he would sign a guy at 400 pounds. Also the ravens locker room is one of the strongest in the league and if theres a guy in the locker room who isnt fully committed to the team he will be rooted out immediately. This is a terrific signing based on talent and if theres one team that can motivate players its the ravens. I would love to move Oher back to RT and hope the ravens arent just following hollywood and keeping Oher on the "blindside" but they have a plan for him at LT and i trust that plan. Let Jah Reid learn for a year as again i dont understand the notion that rookies have to start. If this guy works out and that Mcadoo guy works out the ravens may have all of a sudden become the deepest team at both the defensive and offensive line in the NFL. We sign some verterans, Reid looks good and improving, Oher is improving, Yanda and Grubbs may be a top 3 guard tandem in the league, cousins looks more suited at guard...im very optimistic

Saw the tweet by JLC about looking at McKinnie on either Left Tackle or Right Tackle. So maybe Michael Oher being our LT of the future isn't so concrete like we all think. Maybe Oher will move back to RT afterall.

If McKinnie starts at LT and Oher moves back to RT... this all fits into what I said in the Draft Thread, we could trade up for a Top LT next year to be our future LT while Oher stays on the Right side.

I wouldn't mind seeing Oher back on the right if McKinney is actually in shape.
It sounds like something they might be willing to toy with if McKinnie learns the offense and is ready to play.

The guy is only 31 so he still has gas left. And if he wants to, he can be good.

McKinnie-Grubbs-Birk-Yanda-Oher is sick in theory.

McKinnie also reunites with his long time teammate, Birk. I'm sure the Ravens org talked to Birk about this acquisition. And I bet they believe that Birk knows him well enough to help get him up to speed.

Great point. Let's hope Birk is ready by 9/11!

Looking at what Vikings fans have been saying, they very much dislike this guy. Complete opposite reaction of Bills fans with Evans. Apparently this guy was the Vikings version of Cousins aka EZ Pass last season.

After a 2009 loss against the Arizona Cardinals, it was reported by Tony Boselli on the Dan Patrick show that McKinnie accidentally tipped off the Vikings offensive game plan to the Cardinals. He said that the Cardinals knew when the Vikings were going to pass because of his leg. "He would have one of his legs back a little bit further" when getting in stance before the play.[sup][2][/sup] In 2010, McKinnie allowed a sack that injured Brett Favre and stopped his consecutive regular season start streak at 297 games.[sup][3

This guy has baggage no doubt. Hence the risk. Oz is gambling like I said. But Cousins is no where near McKinnie's talent.

Also this guy played at miami with Ed Reed in 2000 and 2001 so theres another guy who will help Mckinnie stay in line and stay motivated. If a legitamte super bowl title isnt enough motivation...i dont really know what is

We'll have to make a cut to make up for the roster spot. Since it is a bigger deal, it should be interesting if the name on the depth chart is a bit higher this time around.

Theres a reason McKinnie was a top 10 pick and Cousins was a 3rd round pick who has 2 career starts.

Well Ozzie was listening, OL depth through the roof now! If this guy can get back to form he is a high-caliber LT, I read what ATD said above about us adamant in keeping Oher at LT but if McKinnie can outperform him at that position, and we can move Oher back to RT, that stirs up some good 09 memories

I know that. All I'm saying is who will be let go. Maybe a trade happens or even Ngata deal gets done. Something has to happen soon is the point I was trying to make.

Maybe McKinnie just didn't like his career prospects this offseason after he realized he'd be protecting Christian Ponder for the rest of his time. Then when he found out about McNabb, it was too late. He was cut two days after the trade.

Lets just hope this isnt another Rabach where everyone gets excited and then he fails his physical, if he passes and succeeds this could be one of our biggest offseason aquisitons...our rub blocking is already very good and with a mauler at right tackle, this guy at left, grubbs and yanda at guads...all of a sudden we look very scary with possibilities of Oher, Reid, Lavior, Mattison (assuming Birk is back) off the bench...thats almost scary to think about
