I don't know if it's just me, but he seems pretty excited to be on the Ravens. It could just be the fact that he's getting paid some good money, but he still seems excited.

Basically he gets to go to a Super Bowl contending team with a bunch of his buddies from the U and to a team full of his Miami brethren, a place where he gets a new start and where guys like the ultimate Miami Hurricane, Ray Lewis, can serve as his influence on and off the field. Whats not to be happy about?

If this means Oher is moving back to RT, I suddenly like this much more.
That's what McKinnie said...it kind of sucks though, that means in two years we are going to be looking for a LT....and a good LT is pretty rare, its the hardest thing next to playing QB.

Oh I agree completely. I just found it kind off odd since reports are that he doesn't really care about football as much as the money. Again, I don't know if that's true. Just what I've heard. I'm liking the fact that he's excited.

On another note, a lot of players seem to be really excited when they come to the Ravens. I'm just glad we have a first-class organization that can make players feel like that year after year.

That's both an old man joke and a fat joke.

I don't know how well McKinnie can perform at LT at this stage in his career. He's been known to tip off what the play is based on his stance, allowed the Favre killing sack, and has some injury and character concerns. We'll see though, I'm hopeful he can be better than Oher has been, since Oher has just been average at LT. At least with Oher on the right side, we know we'll be able to run the ball again.

doesn't mean we can't resign Mckinnie after 2 years. if he truly comes back to pro bowl form we can still use him for 3 or 4 more years

According to what McKinnie told ESPN, he will be playing Left Tackle which means Oher is going back to Right Tackle.
McKinnie told ESPN that he was told he will play left tackle in Baltimore. That will put Michael Oher back at right tackle, instead of the blind side position which made him famous in high school and college.
I smell smoke coming that we need to draft a LT next year.....

I think 2 year of McKinnie service is good enough though cuz he'll be 33 i guess. We need a young LT and I think Ozzie will find it.

I'm not sure how I feel about him (apparently) being our LT. Yes, he has a massive experience edge over Oher but I've also heard from Vikings fans and media sources that he's a bit of a liability in pass pro nowadays.

McKinnie is kind of older...he'll be 34? or something...his knees and body wont hold up most likely, he wont be playing at Pro Bowl levels

even if he played at average levels it'd be an upgrade than wasting Oher's talent at LT

I would be happier if Oher could establish himself at the LT position and McKinnie took over the RT spot...its just too bad Oher wasnt more consistent

Finding a LT is definitely something we should be looking for in the draft next year...we can draft one and groom him

For the record, he's only 31.

If Mckinnie is the LT and he's ready to go, the O-line will be vastly improved. Oher at RT makes the most sense ( he could be an all-pro there) Yanda at RG is his best and natural position ( another potential all-pro) Birk back at canter ( if he's healthy) and Mt.McKinnie at LT.

I think we got a great pickup here. We needed a tackle and we got one. Hes experienced and i think he still has a couple good years left. That being said i dont expect him to be a pro bowler or anything but i do expect him to be a solid starter.

McKinnie has never played RT. His skill set is LT, his footwork is for LT. He's been playing that position for so long. It would be a lot harder transition for him to go to a new position than it would be for Oher to go back to RT.

Well, I was one of the guys pulling for Oher to stick in at LT, but if this means Superbowl, I'm for it. Whatever makes the team better. But what does this mean for the long term LT/RT situation? I'd assume, after his contract is up, Oher - LT, Reid - RT, but who knows at this point. Ozzie sure has been busy this offseason!

If we move Oher over to RT for the next 2+ years, Im not sure I ever want him back at LT. Put him where he works and keep him there. I also think if McKinnie can work out at LT, our run game is really strong this year.

ummm i was talking about when his contract is up dude...he'll be 33, 34..older

and a guy who played LT can easily play RT if needed...come on, its an easier position to play..

Well you get your wish, cause thats what I'm saying...now we need to start looking for a LT to groom so when McKinnie is gone in two years..we have someone ready to go, Oher is now a RT

My question is, why didn't we even attempt to resign Gaither (who signed cheaply with the Chiefs) and then stick Oher at RT

That would've solved everything, and our line would've returned to 09 (or 08, w/e it is) form

because Gaither has back issues or something, he hasnt been practicing with the Chiefs and missed game time already i think

something is not quite right with him, i wanted him back too but now something aint right with him

Also, IDK maybe the Vikings fans are bitter or maybe McKinnie isnt that great of a LT, they all say he gets beat a lot at LT

I said but he was a Pro Bowler in 2009...they said his play really fell off and he got beat a lot...so whatever happens I hope he elevates his game, we cant have Joe get beat up

You mean the guy that said he was 100% healthy, got signed, then immediately started missing practices?
