RT @skjensen: BREAKING: Hearing Baltimore Ravens very interested in LT Bryant McKinnie. We'll see if a deal comes to fruition.
It appears the Ravens may have interest in bringing in McKinnie, also read on twitter that he's in shape now...so who knows

I didnt see another Bryant McKinnie thread

I would welcome a tryout for any player regardless of their situation and let management decide what to do with them. I don't know much about McKinnie but I remember Favre getting beat up quite a bit that last year but not sure if McKinnie's side of the line was to blame for most of that or not. I will be interested to see what comes out of all of this though.

Depth at LT, moving him to RT, or putting Oher at RT?
Oher isn't moving. They're very adamant about him playing the left side, and the only way that's going to happen is by giving him reps there. Switching him back to the right would only counter what the team is obviously trying to do with the man.

I had a witty response, but an earthquake hit my house. Lost it.

If this is true I have to say I'm a bit surprised. Especially after we just signed two veteran o-lineman. I guess you can never have enough tackles though.

I am only hoping the first earthquake I felt in my lifetime wasn't in response to Bryant McKinney landing in MD!!! I honestly crapped my pants because I didn't know what was happening. I live where we have a lot of wind and I initially thought it was gail force winds, but then peeped outside the window and saw the trees were still! Then it hit me ... EARTHQUAKE!

Believe it or not I had the same exact response without even looking at your post first. So in the interest of true journalism, I have to laud you for coming up with the same response first!

This is the type of signing I thought we would make: someone who is probably going to be more effective at RT, but can move to LT if we needed. Decent pickup if it comes through.

is he REALLY in shape???
If by 'in shape' they mean, not chowing down double cheeseburgers on a consistent basis, then probably yea.

I can't see the Ravens signing him if he hasn't got himself in shape by now. If he's in shape and willing to put some work in I'll be happy if we pick him up! Providing we get him pretty cheap and/or incentive based.

If we bring him in, then we will have to put him in the same workout program we put Cody in.

Is anybody else sweating the Center position on this team? As for McKinnie, I'll just wait for the physical results if it even gets to that point.

I'm worried about the line as a whole.

I'm actually ok with it. Mattison has played pretty darn well in the preseason so far and it looks like Birk should be back for week 1. The next preseason game against the skins should tell us a lot though since they run a 3-4. We'll see how Mattison plays with a guy lining up right in front of him.

Umm, I'd say McKinnnie MIGHT be an upgrade over Oher if he's in football shape ( for a starting O-lineman).

If we were looking for an OT with weight problems and a lack of work ethic, why didn't we just keep Gaither? I think this would be a bad move, even with an incentive laden contract, the guy was overrated even when he was "good" just ask Steve Hutchinson and our own Matt Birk. I would much rather see Reid and LeVoir competing for the job, at least I already know they both want it and will work hard for it.

if he comes in he'll be RT most likely not LT
He will mentor Reid, but he better not teach Reid how to sccrew himself up.

Not sure I want someone like that mentoring the young guys.
