Ravens Lover

This Defense Vs. Last Years

I agreem completely we will have to wait and see but all early signs look promising. I also believe it will be helped by our offense because while we may not score that many points still i definitely believe we're built better this year to sustain drives. We have some quicker guys in the slot now and evans will open up those short first down routes underneath or hell even but evans on a slant as he proved he can do vs the chiefs. With Vonta look for our 3rd and short to be power runs rather then stupid sweeps or quick throws and we will convert more. While we might still not score as much as fans want our ability to sustain drives and keep our pretty deep defense on the sideline will only help them stay fresh and play 100% every play theyre out there.

Anybody think Zibby still has a chance to start over Pollard??

yeah he has a chance, he's playing with the 1s in practice the other day, lets see what he does in the Redskins game...I think Pollard has the inside track tho

Pagano is a package guy, depending on the package is who will play, zibby an ruki will ge ample playing time this year, which leads to fresher legs in december

Pagano will be a head coach one day. The way our D looks compared to last year in terms of play calling I think is better, more aggresive like how RAVENS are supposed to be. I think Smith,McPhee,Williams,Jones,Cody,Kindle,Kruger all have a good year

lol, with Ray in the middle it wouldn't surprise me just ask the 10 other head coaches/former head coaches that coached Ray as assistance hes got his own tree of coaches starting with him.

The defense has definitely been more aggressive. I can't wait to see how it looks during the regular season when starters play the whole game.

I think you are leaving out a very huge factor in all of this. Billy the Kid. Cundiff has shown the ability to connect from 50+ all camp and preseason long. If he can continue to do that on a regular basis, it'd be huge. Like you mentioned fans won't like it as much because it's not a TD, but a made FG will still probably result in offense starting their next possession at the 20.

There won't be many teams who will be able to drive 80 yards consistently on our defense and if the defense forces 3 and outs, the field position game will greatly benefit our offense.

Also, those quicker guys you mentioned on offense. Don't forget the impact they'll have on guys like Pitta, Doss, Rice, Dickson and Q underneath the defense. With Evans, Reed, Smith and Dickson pushing the defense back, the underneath and middle of the field will be open for other guys.

This will allow our drives to continue as well. So things are coming together nicely as of right now. We'll see how it is when the live bullets start to fly.

Does anyone else feel kinda bad for the OCs that will have to gameplan for this defense? lol just kidding, I think this could be a defense that challenges the 2000 defense, Not kidding we'll see around week 6 or 7.
