Josh Wilson Comments On Ravens/Redskins

59 posts in this topic

This is pretty much a non-story. I respect the fact that he chose a team closest to his childhood home. He likely chose it over money and he sure chose it over winning games/Superbowls. His comments are more to generate positive PR about the Redskins than they are to slam our franchise.

maybe he didnt want to come back, maybe he chose the Redskins...crazy thought

Certainly sounds like he was really wanting to be a Redskin. Pretty sure if any of us made it to that level (NFL), we'd take the first legit offer from the Ravens immediately. Kind of the same scenario here.

What a very thought out and educated comment based on what you read....

You guys are giving Ravens fans a bad name. He never said what fan base was better he said TRADITION is better in D.C.

I agree. Wilson was talking about Tradition. And I agree. The Redskins are one of the most storied franchises in the league. If the Colts never left Baltimore, we'd be held in that same regard as well. We are still a young franchise.

But I don't see anything Wilson said as being disrespectful.

We're football fans, we wanna see someone get smacked, simple as that. Some of us are giving the Ravens a bad name, but hey, you'll get over it.

I do have immense respect for Redskins fans though, amidst all that losing and they still stick with em? Much respect.

Nothing wrong about Wilson's remark, but when any 2 teams are about to play each other, of course there are some smack talks. I think it's not about what he said, it's about he chose the Redskins over us which made some of us abit of sour.

It's only the preseason game anyways, but we need to win regardless...P

It may be a non story as some of you have said, but in the media its making the rounds on ESPN, and even on BR.com in the Late For Work article

I agree with what someone else said, it's like is one of us played professionally and the Ravens offered us a deal we'd probably take it over another team who offered a similar deal..because we grew up as Baltimore football fans

We all kind of have a good idea on who is coming on top of this competition against the skins...
"Let the battle of Beltways begin." you will see me cruise up the I-95 one day to see these guys go head to head... The only difference here is the Ravens should be carrying the bow and arrow..... God Bless Raven Football!!!!!!

The night before he became a Redskin he tweeted something to the effect of 'God is great' to which I responded with 'does that mean you are a Raven' - I didn't get a response from him (which I didn't expect anyway). However, it just goes to show that he was very excited about becoming a Redskin - perhaps he thought that was a dream job for him given his roots. No harm no foul but we will still beat you on the football field and pretty much for ever!

It's funny because there is a thread on the Steelers message board saying the same thing. They're trying to dump William Gay. He is pretty bad though. Foxworth is a lot better player.

The title of the article was a bit more polarizing than the words by Wilson himself. He still praised the Ravens fans, but said they have a way to go because we are still a young (in terms of years in league) team. Still, I'll take playoffs over no playoffs all day. Same goes to Chester and Le'Ron

How could anyone that is able to read and comprehend the English language, find something negative in what Josh Wilson said? The Redskins were Est. in 1932 and the Ravens were Est. in 1996, if someone said the same about the steelers they would not be lying.

Mr. Wilson said nothing incorrectly, I take no exception to his assessment. I do however work in the DC suburbs all the time and will say without blinking, Redskins fans tend to have split loyalties. I watch them feel great after winning the Pre Season superbowl, then watch the fan base implode over the next 16 weeks. The fan base has lost all momentum, the company I wor for has box seats and on varying weeks CANNOT GIVE THEM AWAY. If that is the great tradition of the Redskins, Give me my Ravens any day.

Of course the Redskins have more tradition than the Ravens, but tradition doesn't mean jack when it comes to winning/losing games

I think Josh needs to get ready for a lot of phone calls, and some people grieving over losses, haha

The Ravens are newer so they don't have the history but Ravens fans are just as much in love with their team as Redskins' fans.
[/quote]

Well said, the Ravens may be newer, but Baltimore has a great history of amazing football fans with the Colts and Ravens

Now that was just a low-blow. So uncalled for.

Tradition doesn't matter when you have garbage owners like Peter Angelos and Dan Snyder.

10 years from today when the Ravens have at least 3 more Lombardi trophies in their display case and the statues of Reed and Lewis are standing tall and shining, all the Redskin lovers will all be clamouring for some Raven love all through DC and Virginia... the exodus has already begun and will reach a crescendo in the next 10 yrs!

he didnt say anything wrong, because it's the truth. That being said, if you take the past 16 years and compare, it's not even close.

I agree with h8er, who cares? We all know who the FAR superior team/organization is

Josh says he expects to be cheered tonight in Bmore

Whats everyone else think? I think he can expect some boos, thats just the nature of the business, if he was with the team longer than a year then maybe the fans would cheer...idk
