Josh Wilson Comments On Ravens/Redskins
“One thing about it, they have nowhere near the tradition of Redskins fans,” Wilson told the Washington Postwith a grin. “...My uncle is 50-so years old and all they know are Redskins and you’d almost think somebody’s died when the Redskins have lost. And now I’m getting all these phone calls asking, ‘What do you think about this?’ and they think I’m going to give them all the insight, and I’m like, ‘Get out of here!’ But the Ravens have a strong fanbase up there. They’re growing and getting kind of that establishment that the Redskins already have.”

I think Josh needs to get ready for a lot of phone calls, and some people grieving over losses, haha

The Ravens are newer so they don't have the history but Ravens fans are just as much in love with their team as Redskins' fans.

But have the Redskins won anything... ever? In our short existence we have produced a Super bowl and 3 hall of fame players. Hows that for tradition?
uh, check your history there. The Redskins have been in 5 superbowls and won 3. Im a full blood ravens fan, and the deadskins have been abysmal for the past 20 or so years, but give them their due at least.

Redskins are a trash organization with Daniel Snyder as the owner. Go give some fat boy DT thats never started a full season another 100 million so he can ride the bench for a year. Hey. Redskins do a nice job at sucking. John Beck is their starter, and if I recall correctly (which i do) john beck was OUR 3rd string qb. So yeah. Have fun goin 3-13 this year Washington. and Josh Wilson can go to hell. The Ravens would murder the Redskins if we played eachother. Yeah, Redskins have a traditon of winning, but a more recent tradition of paying former-backups A LOT of money. Redskins are just pathetic now.

Haha I think Josh Wilson growing up in DC has more allegiance to the Redskins organization, I mean they do have more history but they aren't anything special and haven't been for some time

I understand some franchises have more history but I don't think that means anything when it comes to the fans, thats the only thing that got me...its his preference I suppose and he's allowed that

I think it comes down to the owners of the organization. If the Redskins have the owner like us, they won't be called Dreadskins. We're lucky to have Bisciotti and Ozzie at the helm. Great organization always start from the top.

The only things that can change the Redskin from a losing team to a winning team is a new owner who knows how to find a good GM and importantly let GM and coaches run the football team.

PS: If we have Daniel Snyder over here, we are ****.........

what did he say that was wrong?
Ya easy with the personal attacks. The guy was a born a bred redskins fan who was traded to us last offseason. He didn't say anything about them having better fans or anything, all he said was that they are really nuts about their team (typical PR thing for players to say) and that compared to us they had great traditions. They are about 4 times older so obviously they are going to have better and more traditions than us.

Easy boys, no reason to attack him. He didn't critisize us at all.

This probably reveals that it wasn't Ozzie decision to not resign Josh Wilson this offseason. Likely he told Oz that he wouldn't be returning. That was my only critisism of Oz this offseason (other than O-line, but I don't think he's done) and all this article does for me in make Oz seem even greater.

I thought the same thing, when the Redskins offer came Josh probably already decided that was the team he wanted to go to, especially if his father and family are Redskins fans

He didn't, it was honest. The Redskins do have the "tradition", the Ravens are building theirs. Baltimore is a small market, sandwiched between D.C. and Philly but we're getting ours. Just keep winning and they'll come.

Wilson grew up as a Redskin fan, might've been a big incentive for him to go there.

Some of you are really talking out of your rear ends.

This is a non-story. The guy grew up a redskins fan. It's true they have a better history than the Ravens. It's fact. They celebrated their 75th anniversary a couple of seasons ago. They actually have vintage stuff. We have been around for what 16 years? And yeah JO, Ray and Ed are going to the HoF but they already have some guys in there....

Don't go blabbing off at the mouth about a franchise you are ignorant about because it makes us as a fan base look uneducated and ignorant of the history as well.

Would love to see how many of you "Die Hard Fans" would stick around if we had that many losing seasons....

Josh Wilson is excited to play for his home team and I'm happy for him. I wish them the best of luck. Same to John Beck and a lot of the young guys over there.

Again, this is a non-story and if you have a problem with Josh Wilson for it just let me know so I can add you to the ignore list because I doubt you will be contributing anything positive for discussion in the future.

Sports media coverage is out of control right now, there is a website that covers the Ravens that has a article titled "Josh Wilson Slams Ravens Fans". After reading the article I wondered if the person that wrote the article was the same person that titled the article. Josh says that the Ravens have nowhere near the tradition of the Redskins fans and we do not. The Redskins have been in the NFL since 1932 and the Ravens since 1996, so we do not even come close at all to that. Josh also says that the Ravens a strong fan base that is growing, so were did he slam Ravens fans? I hate when people write articles and give it a racy titles just to get web traffic!

Wilson would have been better of not saying anything. At the same time he didn't say anything that was totally out of line. The Redskins have been around for a long time, and the Ravens are still a baby franchise. Did the Ravens do something that would make him say that?

Still upset we couldn't bring him back, not like we had to pay him much, I mean he only signed for 3 Years & 13 Million.
