Chykie Brown

23 posts in this topic

I can't recall him being mentioned at all since the lockout ended so I was just wondering if anybody knows how he is doing so far. With all of our other rookies, including UNFA rookies, having so much sucess and creating such a buzz for us fans I am really curious to see how he is progressing. This was another kid who had a lot of promise and might have been as high a 3rd round pick if he hadn't broken his arm while playing for Texas. If anybody has any info on him I would be glad to hear about it.

Ya I haven't been able to see him play yet so I was wondering how he has been looking coming back from his broken arm. You should probably tell that to the guy who is proclaiming that Torrey Smith is a bust after less than 60 minutes of preseason action. I'm not sure why you're saying that to me.

I agree. I was wondering where he was during the game last night. We give all this playing time to Gorrer and other guys who have no chance of making this team but I don't recall Brown getting many reps. Maybe he was injured.

Yeah I too was wondering this. I think I saw him in the first preseason game and he was having a pretty good training camp, but I dunno.

I'd like to see more of him, but I have a feeling his impact this season will be minimal. He'll have a bigger impact next year.

Apparently in college he was considered the starter over Aaron Williams before an injury. (I feel like someone on this board may have mentioned this fact so props to whoever haha)

I read he had a few interceptions at practice before. I haven't seen him in games, I may have just missed him.

I remember reading something like this before also, but it wasn't him staring over Aaron Williams. It was him starting over Curtis Brown and him being the leader of young secondary that includes himself Aaron Williams , Earl Thomas , and Curtis Brown. ( I think he was like a year older than them because of redshirt, but I'm not sure. ).

Not entirely true. When Aaron Williams

He played in the first game, but only saw Special Teams action in game 2.

He may have played and we just didn't see it. I know I completely missed it when Foxworth was in the game. I learned from highlights and interviews later that he played. So we could have just missed him.

Trust me, I've watched the game 3 times. I've watched it Live, then I replayed it to focus on the Oline/Dline and the secondary play.

Brown didn't get one single defensive snap in the Chiefs game. He played on punt coverage and I don't know if he was hurt or not, but he didn't get a single snap on defense.

Williams and Smith played well into the 3rd quarter, with Foxworth and Webb sprinkled in. After that, Gorrer, Victorian, and Jackson closed out the game at CB, with Silva, Nate Williams, and Nakamura, handling the Safety position.

Maybe Chykie has been playing SO AMAZING that Pagano is hiding him during preseason so he can be our secret weapon week one against the Steelers!

Just kidding.

Seriously though, Gorrer? I was pretty excited about Chykie coming out of the draft and now he's not getting any snaps at all, disappointing. Hopefully we'll see him in the next 2 games.

Brown got hurt in the Cheifs game. At the 5:35 mark in the second quarter, after a punt he walked off the field holding his back and never returned.

He played a lot in the first game, so I wouldn't worry about him getting snaps. If he can get back on the field, and the injury didn't seem bad, then he should see plenty of action. Especially in the 4th and final preseason game.

Coming out of the draft all I heard was how much this guy would struggle at this level

Maybe he's just not good enough to get any playing time, I heard he was doing okay in camp but maybe other guys passed him

If not that then maybe he has some tweak or injury, and no one asked about him during press conferences because he's buried on the depth chart

He doesn't have the quickness to recover when he misses his jam, he'll need to learn to play smarter to make up for his lack of speed.

I was really excited to see this guy play. He looked like a good CB & everything I read I liked. Who knows, maybe his season will be over from a mysterious injury so he doesn't count towards the roster so another team can't get him. I see black helicopters right now haha.

Seriously, though, I remember reading he was doing well in camp. Maybe it's just difficult for him to get some PT because of our depth at the position. If we don't see more of him in the next two games I'll be worried. I'll reserve my concerns until then.

Probably is a little sore and we are taking it carefully. He hasn't practiced either since the Chiefs game so I doubt it's because of his talent, hes probably dinged up. I'm not concerned with this at all.

Guys chill out, Brown tweaked his back in the 2nd quarter of the Chiefs game and that's why he didn't play on defense. Cary, Jimmy, and Foxy pretty much played the entire first half.

Brown would have gotten time in the 2nd half, but he hurt himself in the 2nd quarter. He was back to practice today so it wasn't anything serious.
