Minus the stupid pitch to Ricky Williams, I agree

Saw a few surprising criticisms of this playcall, but this isn't on Cam this is on Joe. Watch the Chiefs' line on this play - they knew EXACTLY what was coming and adjusted. The DL shifted right, the linebackers sat behind them, and they were all pointing at Ricky. Joe needed to recognize that and use his newly minted audible ability to change the play. That's not Cam, that's Joe's responsibility.

As far as the Boldin play, I'm sorry but if the receiver is open and the QB misses him, that's not the coordinator's fault. I dislike Cam as much as the next guy, but he knows how to beat the Chiefs and he did very well Friday night.

People getting down on the Boldin deep route need to watch the play and see how open he was.

I'll have to watch that play again, but from what I recall, Boldin only had maybe a step on his defender, and the safety was charging hard. Again, from my reaction at the time, I was thinking it would've taken an absolutely perfect throw to hit Boldin in stride (like it needed to be). Pretty low percentage throw from 60 yards, especially when the receiver didn't have much separation (again, from what I remember). If the safety hadn't been there, Flacco could've probably underthrown that ball a bit and just let Boldin out-muscle the corner for it.

I do know what you're saying though. I think Boldin was marginally successful last year on some deep routes (I believe one of his TDs came on a similar play to last night, or maybe it was Heap, or both). But I'd still like to see Evans running those kinds of routes instead of Boldin; at the very least it gives Flacco a marginally bigger window to try to make that pass. And that slant that Evans caught was nice, but that's the kind of stuff I'd like to see Boldin doing more of. I think Cameron tries to get too cute sometimes with the playcalling, and I just wish he'd line everyone up and say, "Here's what we're doing; here's who we have; now try to stop us." That's what all good offenses seem to be able to do. Moss/Welker, Colston/Henderson/Meachem, Jennings/Driver, heck even VJ/Gates: there was no secret who was doing what on those teams. Defenses just couldn't stop them from doing it most of the time.
