23 posts in this topic

Anyone feel lucky this year as I do that we will finally be able to finish inside the 10 this year with McGahee etc.. and be efficient in the red zone? for once. Comments please :)

Our Red-Zone Offense was dreadful last year (28th in the league)

Our Defense, on the other hand, was the best in the league, haha

But yes,

I think we should improve on our 42.3 % Red-Zone TD percentage

McGahee should be able to get the tough just as well if not better than Jamal

and his presence in the passing game opens up more opportunities for McNair

I also expect McNairs TDs to increase, possibly into the 20s.

i might sounds strange but McGahee is a much better redzone runner then Jamal. Willis has the paitence and vision to find some creases. U can expect to see more 4 wide in the redzone to spread the defense out. McNair has another year in the system and his timing and knowledge of his weapons should help plenty. McGahee's receiving abilities will help also Le'Ron McClain is an excellent pass catcher. The Ravens have many different opitions they can turn to in the redzone this season, it's just up to them to deliver

well actually its just that hes used to running in buffalo with that line

and still he converted 80% of 3rd and 3 or less so he can pound through

and now our line is better so it should be pretty good.

Definately, The FGs against Oakland last year were driving me nuts.

I think we all can't wait to see our offense blast out from the past. Would'nt it be great not to B) worry about getting lucky enough to score a TD!!!!!!????

That's exactly why the first drive against TB got me so hyped last year. WE drove for 80 yards with ease and scored the TD. Lil did I know that would just be a tease and I'd have to wait til this year to see the offense finally become a big time scoring offense.

For most of the 2nd half I was worried about how one big play puts Oakland right back in the game. I never thought they had the talent to do it but I never discount the luck factor.

What game was on last night? Ravens and Raiders? and if so was it on NFL network? I seem to always miss the stuff on the Ravens on the NFL network but I watch it all the time

Our 2007 line should be more agile than the 2006 line, but it remains to be seen if this line will be as good for 3rd & 3's for pounding the ball. Mulitalo and Pashos had provided a lot of beef.

In 2007, rather than pound the ball on short yardage, I expect to see a higher % of short passes.

Maybe, maybe not I hope they go for letting McGahee pound the ball for the short yardage rather then passing it =/

Ya, that's what we need to do against Cinci, right from the start, with a whole new look. CAN"T WAIT!!

agreed, i think that now (with McNair having a Full year as a Raven under his belt and a full OTA Workout with his teammates) and McGahee in the backfield gettin those yards for us, we most certianly cannot move backward haha, we can only move forward from last year and from this point on....this season is no exception....i feel that some GREAT things are gonna happen for us (the Ravens) this year...you know it, i know it, all Raven fans know it...... :):P:P:):)

Ah yes, the redzone offense. :D We weren't so great at that last year, but I think McGahee is going to be a huge improvement to this problem, and we will score a lot more within the 20.

Look for Figurs to be a big weapon in the redzone as well. Inside the 20s u don't have much room to opperate so speed helps plenty. Look for him to run reverses and quick tosses, he will also be able to run wr screens and pick plays to allow him to cross the field. Most defenses will pay much attention to Heap in the redzone, which will free up underneath stuff. I wouldn't even be suprised to see a jumbo package of J. Green(251 pounds) and L. McClain(260 pounds). Both guys were used often in their offenses in college and are used to having the ball in their hands. Thats a combine 511 pounds coming head on at u with your back to the goaline. Also with those 2 big backs in the game who would expect a pass, so the playaction would be a weapon also. I'm sure as much as we are thinking of ways to improve the redzone offense, Billick and his staff is working even harder to correct the problem.

agreed...Figurs explosiveness will be a weapon for us inside the red zone

We should def and I mean def do ALOT of reverse's this season with Figur's. With his speed I can see us getting icleast 20+ yd's fo shoo.

If we can do that against Cinci in Cinci right from the start WOW WOW that would be great especially on a freaking Monday night football game that everyone will be watching.

We usually never win a Monday night game *knocks on wood* and we end up embarrassing ourselves(I think the players get nervous or something I don't get it). But may the FORCE be with us, One quick strike on the first drive will boost the team's confidence threw the roof!!, & get the monkey off our back for Monday night showing's, and we will have that game wrapped up like we did in TB last year on game 1.

I haven't heard to much about Figurs yet, but we will see.

speaking of red zone offense, in the denver game, who thought that throwing the jump ball to clarence moore was completely illogical and stupid. Throw a jump ball to our 4th receiver against champ bailey one of the, if not the most athletic player, and best corner in the league (besides C-mac). I always think that if we had made a smarter call at that point we could have won the game.
