Lee Evans Looking Good So Far

46 posts in this topic

Evans' hands looked very fluid last night, which doesn't surprise me. Although he did manage just under 40 receptions last season, he only had 3 drops, 2 of which came on consecutive plays. Don't recall it being a significant problem when I watched him during his stint with Buffalo. Converting 2 3rd downs in front of Brandon Flowers is sure to garnish attention as well. Good start. Very anxious to see what he does against more single coverage looks if (when) we achieve success in the running game. Has definitely been interesting for Baltimore to bring in 2 players I've followed somewhat closely in as many seasons. Quite satisfying, really.

DANG, we showed too much to the Steelers of what we can do with Lee Evans. That's out blitz beater by just making Lee Evans, Ed Reed, and Ed Dickson to do three verticals and make Ryan Clark guess which one is getting the ball.

Max Protections with 3 vertical threats.

I think you mean David Reed.

Flacco looked good on that long pass to Evans; flicked his wrist and shot the ball 35 yards downfield and right into Evans' arms. GIT was a good job by the corner to save the TD.

I didn't get to watch the game, but highlights on Evans looked pretty good. Hopefully he can develop into something like the receiver the Bills thought they would get when they drafted him.

Evans has always been this good, poor QB play though has stopped him from putting up big numbers.

pretty sure that the Steeler's already knew Lee Evans was a down field threat.

Evans looks great. Flacco seems to love him. I tell ya, he's gonna be Mason ver2.0 in the clutch...just faster.

I think the Steelers have a hard time covering us down the field... Clark is good but the speed of Evans and the toughness of Boldin after the carry is going to blow right by him..

One big reception to Evans was nice but hopefully we don't end up using him like we did with Stallworth. I still think we need someone who can work underneath the Steelers D like Mase used to.

I think Doss could step into that role personally. By all accounts he has impressed so far and he was handpicked by Joe as the receiver that he wanted us to draft. We all know that he has impressive hands and good route running skills. He might take time, like all rookies do, but he seems primed to develop into that role.

That is an area of weakness for them. And it sucked last year because we were just using a ton of possession guys. Steelers could play a lot more aggressive at the line. Plus a reason why they rush Polamalu so much against us. Make them stay more honest with Evans/Smith this year.

Evans looked really, really good in my opinion. His first catch wasn't a well thrown ball but he came up with it anyway. Probably the highlight of the offense last night.

Gotta say, looks like Boldin could have easily made that one deep ball. Either he gave up on the route, did not know where it was, or didn't think he was targeted. That ball fell within a few feet of him. Joe's accuracy was nothing short of horrid, but that pass, and the one to Evans were beautiful IMO.

I'm so happy we picked up Lee Evans, I knew they'd make a move for a WR through trade or some other way

This dude is talented, his stats dropped off because the Bills are so inconsistent at QB and as a team

I'm so ready to see some more action of Evans and T. Smith against the Redskins.

I am thinking Evans could be the "hidden jewel" for Flacco this year...great move on Ozzie's part.

Evans was pretty good. Him and Flacco were definitely connecting. I hope it continues to be like this the whole season, and this way against the Steelers. If Flacco gets more accurate and better under pressure, we should find ourselves with a very good offense.
