Lee Evans Looking Good So Far

46 posts in this topic

I noticed that Boldin was sent deep on several routes, and all of those balls were out of his reach. Why didn't we try sending Evans on some of those routes? It's still early but it seems like Flacco loves his speed with his huge arm. Has Cam learned nothing, or are we just not showing our hand?

Flacco's accuracy was so bad with everyone else but I'm really hoping his trash play was a Cincy-type anomaly.

Flacco is generally quite accurate. I believe tonight was more of an anomaly and I think (hope) Lee not being sent deep was mainly due to us having Pitt week 1. Maybe Im just being optimistic :)

I think Cam just wanted to try some different things under game conditions. My whole section was questioning sending Boldin long. They probably just wanted to see how well it would work.

flacco was off today. im just happy evans can clearly be a force in this offense, and taking the safety to his side should leave boldin open, so i definitely agree with sending q deep. today was just bad connection between the two.

flacco couldn't have handed it to Evans any better on that bomb pass. great play. Evans almost hit stride after catching it

Q got behind the safety on the first one.....its a shame. That one connects, not only does it helps Joes stats and overall play, but it gets Q a TD, the first team O a TD and the entire face of tonights game changes!

You saw Flacco's gestures after some of these inaccurate throws. You saw when he knew he missed a throw or when he threw one inaccurate.

Yeah, he knew he played poorly...off to DC!

I don't know if we can take down the mighty in DC (I've thrown in the towel). But speaking of which, Beck looked sharp. I was impressed watching the replays.

I was worried after the big play down the sideline... that tackle looked worse than it ended up being, thankfully.

Yeah, I cringed and then kind of delayed opening my eyes....thank god it ended the way it did!

I think cam wasn't showing his hand. We all kno the steelers r watching our games. We can't show them everthing. Lee Evans is the real deal.

That touch pass by Flacco on the streak by Evans was something we've been missing in Baltimore for a long time, and certainly what this team needs. It was a thing of beauty. Thankful to have him on board. Him and Flacco are going to develop quite a rapport over the next couple of years.

I think flacco played horrible but luckily for my sanity, I know that is not the regular Flacco. I am excited about Lee evans and what he can bring to the table for us. Why is it though it looks like Flacco has better chemistry with Evans than Boldin. Or is it that Boldin is being misused again. I have had a few beers and am a little calmer about the situation, but if Cam keeps this up and is not fired I am going to be at a loss for words.

Ofcourse. The Steelers will base their gameplan around what they see in our four preseason games and our game against them last year. Just like we'll do the same for them. Ofcourse they already know how to gameplan for certain pieces. Looking forward to playing the Steelers game 1 because the lack of sufficient game film (Recent) will make for some surprises.

The plays to Q were fine. Joe flat out missed both times despite Boldin being open...

Maybe it's just PRE SEASON, so all in all this is when you work out kinks, get your timing down and get into a a good groove with someone that you have only been working with all of only a few days. It's pre season for one, they haven't had any OTAs are coming off an off season lock out, do you honestly expect them to look immortal in their second pre season game with a few weeks of only training camp?? Yeah Joe had some timing issues, or was he throwing to WRs that weren't there in time?? All in all they have a good feew weeks plus a couple pre season games left to get in sync and start gelling as a first team offense. I'll start to panic once the 11th gets here and I don't see any progress.

Its great that Joe was in-sync with Evans, but it looks like alot of his passes were based on his speed. (like Flacco spent most the week working with Evans) For he overthrew several receivers by just a step. No worries though, its just going to take some more time to get adjusted to every receivers speed as some come out of the break faster then others. Its still the preseason and should only improve with time as everyone grows into their new roles.

Flacco looked good on that long pass to Evans; flicked his wrist and shot the ball 35 yards downfield and right into Evans' arms. GIT was a good job by the corner to save the TD.

I didn't get to watch the game, but highlights on Evans looked pretty good. Hopefully he can develop into something like the receiver the Bills thought they would get when they drafted him.

Evans looked really, really good in my opinion. His first catch wasn't a well thrown ball but he came up with it anyway. Probably the highlight of the offense last night.

DANG, we showed too much to the Steelers of what we can do with Lee Evans. That's out blitz beater by just making Lee Evans, Ed Reed, and Ed Dickson to do three verticals and make Ryan Clark guess which one is getting the ball.

Max Protections with 3 vertical threats.

I was very impressed with how Evans seemed to slide in and seemed to be the receiver with whom Joe was actually most comfortable throwing it to. I think Ozzie's pulled another rabbit out of a hat in getting this guy.

It was just a shame that Flacco was quite inaccurate this week, otherwise we'd have seen some really long plays.

Evans showed a lot of speed, which we need considering how much Boldin is slowing down. He looked like he was running through mud.

I'm not sure how much was Joe overthrowing or Boldin just not getting there. I would hope once the season begins we will be using Evans for those type of routes and Boldin will be more the possession receiver that he actually is. Joe was off tonight in terms of accuracy but I was impressed with his poise, pocket awareness and keeping his eye downfield while scrambling. It is all about timing and it will come. Remember that Flacco has lost the 2 targets he had the most chemistry with so it is an adjustment.

I was very very impressed with this young wideout... The Buffalo Bills Wide Receiver came to Baltimore and really played well.. Steve B made a good move pulling the strings on this player. i know it is only a pre-season game but Cam Cameron's offense is really coming through for the city....Black&Purple...

People say Joe's timing with Lee was great, I don't really think that was the case. The one long touch pass was a thing of beauty, but much like Dickson, Boldin and Smith; Joe was inaccurate throwing the ball to Evans.

I think this is why Evans played so well imo because he bailed Joe out a could of times. But that will only build confidence in Joe that, if he just gets the ball in Lee's area it'll be a completely.

I've always liked Evans since coming out of college, but never really watched him with Buffalo. After the trade I heard some people say how his hands were inconsistent. I sure didn't see it last night. But I guess that's what inconsistent is, one game your good the next your not. So we'll see.

All in all, I think it was a really strong night for the offense and although things weren't crisp, we should have gotten a lot of good film from it.

And for anybody that says Cam used people wrong last night, it's just wrong imo.

I loved the bunch formations we ran to take advantage of Boldin and Evans. I loved him getting Torrey Smith on a crossing pattern, that allowed him to use his speed, and not really worry about the route. That play might have gone for a TD if Flacco hits it.

I like how he used David Reed in the second half.

The only thing that could have been questioned was the 3rd and 2 pitch to Ricky Williams, but that was one of those things of, hey lets see how we execute this. I bet in the regular season, we ran behind Leach.

Lee Evans played really well. I'm looking forward to seeing him this season. Can't imagine what numbers they would have put up if they would have played the entirety of the game.
