Troy Smith probably could have used the break, what with much of his daily routine still being taken up by intravenous treatments.[/i]

This was written today in the baltimore sun.

Sounds like he is still working on getting healthy. The players also noted that he looks a lot better. That he is working on getting some pounds back on. In my opinion he will be ready to suit up next game, but I am not a doctor.

His Tonsil infection was worse than a normal one.
Something like only 100 cases of that kind in the last 50 years?

Here's another article ;

For this type of illness to befall Troy at the time that it did is very unfortunate for not only him but our entire team. It looked like he had the QB job "locked up," for all intents and purposes, and then this infection, now Joe is the QB for the foreseeable future. I really feel for Troy and wish him the best as he recovers and gets back out there for us...

Yea,
The stuff about the blood clots is scary.
Hope he gets his strength back and gets back to the number 2 starter.
Don't want to think about our chances if Flacco gets hurt at this time.

Yeah, people were trying to "guess" as to what was ailing Troy and that was one of their "brilliant" stories. If you watched Dr. Tucker's press conference, you really get a much better idea as to how weird/rare this illness was. As Dr. Tucker puts it, Troy was "unlucky."

yea, I just watched that press conference yesterday. I was just real surprised to hear somebody saying that about troy, the guy had a tonsil infection for goodness sake <_< and we all know how bad troy wanted to win that starting job, obviously he wouldn't do something foolish like getting hungover to risk his chances of winning, lol.

goes to show you should play every play like it's your last cause it very well could be!

no one can predict these freak illnesses/injuries. from what i understood he looked really good and the joe flacco era was probably going to be put on hold atleast temporarily. (this is what i heard and i don't live in the baltimore area) i know flacco is the face of the team now, but i was really pulling for troy so that even if he didn't stick with the ravens, maybe some other team would take notice of his improvements and give him a chance. lord knows plenty of teams need a competent QB!

here's to a safe and speedy recovery! :)
