Would You Consider a Trade For Dennis Dixon?

The Steelers are seeking a trade partner for Dennis Dixon. Dixon has starting experience in the AFC North and has command over the Steelers offense. We need a veteran backup with starting experience, and Dixon seems almost too good to be true given his knowledge of the Steelers.

A trade between the rivals seems unlikely, but would you be willing to make this trade? What would you be willing to give up?

Maybe not too good to be true, but bringing in a QB that has been in Bruce Arians' system for a few years now would certainly be beneficial. This trade is not likely to happen, but it would great having a guy with starting experience against the AFC North backing up Flacco, and on this team in general. He practices against the Steelers everyday and therefore sees their defense's tendencies everyday.

I liked Dixon coming out of Oregon and I've liked what I've seen from him as a backup for Big Ben. Besides the fact that he would bring his knowledge of the Steelers, he isn't worth a draft pick IMO when there are still guys like Jim Sorgi available. A backup QB is not worth a draft pick unless it's a 6th or 7th.

Dixon was a disappointment....... he had terrible pocket awareness

i was hoping he would impress people and then we would have trade bait ala a kevin kolb

but no......no one is going to give us anything for him

but ill tell you what if we find someone to trade for him we should see if they are interested in sweed as well lol

Glad you and I are on the same page about Dennis Dixon (as we usually are about things...except our choice of teams!) lol.

lol i would be a ravens fan if i didnt love the steelers so much

i think the ravens are an outstanding team.....they play great, they draft great, and every offseason they do something very interesting.

for example,

i know alot of you are upset about losing mason and heap. but you got younger and are giving some interesting players chances to perform

now even if this doesnt work out, it took alot of guts.

and thats how greatness happens.........its always a risk

thats the kind of thing that i respect about the ravens

I would make the trade for about a 6th rounder if Tyrod's outlook goes dark for some reason, be it injury of what not. Otherwise the two are about the same when it comes to play style and physical attributes, so why trade?

I don't know if Dixon is any better than what we have, at the moment. If it was Leftwich, I might consider it but Dixon? Nah.

I really do not see a fit here. Im not sure there has been any trades between teams in the AFC North... I wouldnt want to give up any player or draft pick even a 7th. I prefer to have Tyrod Taylor be the backup, he may have little experience but the kid has huge upside from what I have seen and its good to get him the practice and pre season reps.

No, we just need to sign a vet for a 1 year deal until Tyrod has a full off season to prepare. You don't make trades for back ups especially not with that Squeelers.

Sentiment in some Steelers forums seem to suggest that Dixon will be cut. I say wait it out. The Ravens find good value in late round picks.

Nah good idea, but I think we should be fine with Tyrod. If he isn't ready and we REALLY need someone I think we could pickup a veteran stop game for a year for nothing as a free agent.

So we would trade for Dixon as like a secret weapon so we could get all of their plays and beat them at their own game? The fact that we have every game on tape that the steelers played isn't enough? We can't beat the Steelers because we can't finish games. Straight up, thats the reason why. We blew a lead in the season and in the playoffs.

I think things will be different this year. But whats the point of getting dennis dixon aka Troy Smith part 2? If we are going to get somebody to backup Flacco, I want someone who has so much game experience that I can trust them. Dixon doesn't have enough experience for me to want him

Dixon was expected to win the Heisman but got hurt the last few games of his college career. He's got talent without a doubt, but, so far, the NFL has been to big for him. With the right QB coach, he could be a lot better.

Thought the stillers were happy with him? But, no, this deal doesn't make much since for the Ravens. I'd prefer a seasoned veteran at QB behind Joe and if we can't get that, I'd just as soon go with Taylor.

i'm not even going to think about the possibilities of a trade, because the steelers and ravens will NEVER tradewith each other

I wouldn't want a QB who probably wouldn't play much better than Tyrod if he came in. I certainly wouldn't trade for him and I don't think it would make much sense to pick him up if he's cut unless its to get him to tell us about the Steelers offense.
