i think we all know that the doo doo's defense is not intimidating at all. we need to establish the run early and score on every possesion.

it will be up to our d to shut down mr one year wonder and jlew. we win 21-7
haha ya i agree i think we will have plenty of turnovers by the D to get us nice feild position...

we have all seen what the browns can do against a tuff defence (steelers, dallas LOL! :P ) i have good confidents about this game :)

For the Browns I think it's pretty simple of what we have to do. Defensively, Shut down Braylon Edwards. Jam him and play him physical and your already in his head. He's Anderson's favorite target and seems to be the base of their offense. Limit Winslow to underneath routes and take him out of the game early cuz he always seems to have a monster game against us especially if he's catching deep passes. Shut down the run. Check. Pressure Anderson. Check. hit em the mouth and hit em often. Check.

Offensively, run outside, wear down Rodgers early, and run hard. Browns had a physical game vs the Steelers and it showed that once you start to hit em in the mouth like only rivals can then you start to get in their heads and eventually they will collapse cuz they seem to lack discipline. Last night they we're jawing at their teammates, showing frustration, questioning themselves and they simply lost focus. Utilize heap cuz he's a huge mismatch vs their LB's and target mason cuz they can't stop the pass.

Simple. Obvious. That's it.

That's what impressed me.
Our time of possession in the second half was over 24 minutes.
Not to be Johnny Raincloud, but consider this:

1. Without Flacco's 38 yard rush and Clayton's 42 yard rush, the Ravens ran for 149 yards on 44 rushes. This is 3.4 yards per carry, which would be 27th in the league. It also would have been 31st in the NFL last year.

2. In the passing game, the Ravens averaged 4.45 yards/attempt last week, 31st in the NFL. That would have been 32nd in the league last year.

3. This was against one of the worst defenses in the NFL.

The Ravens need to pick it up on offense...
And it all added up to a win, that's all that matters to me. I like the pretty ones, but I'll take em ugly...kinda like my college days :o

The browns looked horrible in both games so far this year, that said, we havent really been tested either. We will know come week 4 when we face pittsburgh where we stand. I think we should beat the browns, but we played one of the worst teams in the league (so far) in our first game. I cant waut to see what happens this week and next week, we had a horrible division record last year, id be extatic if we could go 3-0 in the first 3 games lol. We will see. my prediction is 24-10

I like our odds for this game and think we should win. The players are probably disapointed, they didn't get to play the Texans when they were so ready to extend our record to 2-0. Now I think they'll turn that energy on a frustrated Cleveland team that's eager to get a win. Hopefully we can go into the game with the right mindset and make the most of our preperation. I don't under estimate the Browns though they are a great team and should put up for a good game, but I'll start rooting for them after their 0-3 start (especially when they play the steelers).

Exactly, the key to this game will be ball control, and if we continue to run the ball like in Week 1, which we should, considering we have the 3-headed monster of McGahee, Rice, and McClain (kind of sounds like a law firm doesn't it?) carrying the rock.

you forgot about someone on there. He may not be part of the head but hes very important too.

Lorenzo Neal...

I mean we gotta find a way to put him in there... Something like the three headed monster with/on/and (????) any suggestions anyone?

anyway you can come up with a name that sounds cool and goes with 3 headed monster.

Heres a try... It doesnt sound too good but you get the idea. Anyway itll sound cool. Just an example

3-headed monster on tank tracks???? :P

How about a three-headed monster with a Spike Collar and jail tat. Lorenzo Neal being the Spike Collar and tat. A hardcore accessory.

We have so many options in the backfield. Two unique runningbacks, two unique fullbacks. Mix and Match I say. McGahee should be our feature back, In my opinion if we incorporate McClain as well as Rice and Neal our running game will be so versatile. They could stack 8 men in the box against our double backs, and not know what to expect. Keep them defensive boys on their heels.

Once we have the defenses biting down on the run, play action will open our game up. It's text book smashmouth football.

^ makes people go stupid if we did that. Itd make me wonder what our team would be doing.

edit - I was too lazy to click on quote and I just so happened to post my comment at the wrong time with it being put on the next page.

I have a theory that i could probably run the football if Lorenzo Neal is lead blocking.
If your gonna consider factors consider this one as well...The play calling was based off of how the game was playing out. If we were down the play calling would have called for more passes and we would have had more passing yards resulting in better stats per attempt but we were up so we ran as much as possible to control the clock. And in doing so we had more rushing attempts which will always diminish yrs per carry. Play calling is based off of what game situation we're in at that particular time. Clayton gets stopped on the reverse whose to say that we wouldnt have rushed it 10 more times that series and scored regardless? Flacco connects with Clayton on the deep route instead of overthrowing him by a matter of inches stats go up.

The job of the offense is to win, keep our defense off the field, score and pick up 1st downs. And if you grade our offense off of that...then we dominated. they did their job. Stats are for WR's, RB's, and fans. Ask Payton Manning about their rushing yrd p/attempt yesterday and see if he cares. Betcha that W made him sleep good last night.
Good point.

Originally, I was comparing the Ravens' first game to last season. In '07, the Yards/Attempt was 5.7, 30th in the league. I think this was primarily because of an overemphasis on short dumpoff passes, 5 yard curls... The problem is, it draws the defense in, which also hurts the running game. With no one (except for D. Williams) to stretch the field - as a deep threat - defenses can cheat up and require the Ravens to convert 6-8 first downs in a row to get in the Red Zone.

Like I said, the first game against the Bengals, the Ravens averaged 4.5 Yards/Pass Attempt. I realize this was Flacco's first pro game ever - and he did great, considering - but I wonder if Harbaugh will open up the O, not just throw 5-7 yard dumpoff passes. If he doesn't, then the running game - despite the 229 yard, NFL leading rushing attack of week one - will suffer. Like I said earlier, we can't count on 42 yard rushes by Clayton and 38 yard rushes by Flacco. With those two carries aside, the Ravens averaged 3.4 yards a carry. And I wonder if that was because of Harbaugh's unwillingness to throw deep - like Billick.

But honestly, neither Harbaugh or Flacco can be criticized for a convincing WIN in week one. An ugly win is better than a pretty loss - and it wasn't ugly, unless you're a Bengals fan. I'm just wondering aloud whether the Ravens will repeat the same play-calling errors of last year...

I am very confident in Coach Cam's ability to call plays. He proved to me in Week 1 that he is going to stick with his game-plan and at the same time read the defense and really attack their weaknesses, as we saw during our final drive of the game where we ran it what seemed like 8-10 straight times as the Bungles were gasping for air..
The banged-up Browns will practice Wednesday afternoon without five key injured players.

Romeo Crennel said five players will stay inside and work with trainers when the Browns take to the practice field to begin on-field preparations for Sunday's game in Baltimore. Those five are...

**WR/KR Joshua Cribbs (shoulder and hamstring)

**LB Willie McGinest (hamstring)

**WR Donte' Stallworth (quad)

**LG Eric Steinbach (shoulder strain)

**LB Kris Griffin (calf strain)
our coverage teams are much improved from last year... i expect nothing less than special teams dominance and a run stuffing effort from the Dline and LB's

Unfortunately Cribbs injuries so far are really affecting his return ability. You can just tell he isn't 100% when he starts those returns which really sucks; he is a big part of our team.

yah i remember how the commentators last year all were saying that there is no way you should kick to josh cribbs. he not only has speed but vision. i see more speed and less vision in Yamon, but the vision will come.
