There Was Deff Just A Tremor In Fenwick Island

14 posts in this topic

I live right on the border to Ocean city and fenwick island, right on the Maryland Line. At 12:57 this afternoon my home shook for 2 whole seconds along with a really loud noise that almost sounded like an explosion. The dogs were going nuts and I went outside. everything was fine, nothing fell on the roof, nothing, I checked everything. My neighbor was like what the hell was that.

None of my friends around felt anything, and i see nothing on facebook or the news.

East Coast Earthquake?

It happens. I remember when I was very young and living briefly in the Rochester, NY area we experienced a big, jolting tremor one morning.

We've had small earthquakes here in York County (PA) so it's possible. You'd just have to do a little digging into the geological history of the area....don't know how many fault lines run under the state of Delaware though.

Found out what it was from some people that live near me.

The golf course I live on is having construction done to houses being built. They were digging foundations with a big digger, and since we got so much rain the last few days, they had to lay down these 4" thick 15 foot Massive steel plates so the diggers could drive ontop of them.

One of the massive plates fell from a crane, and fell straight down flat onto another steel plate and it made this incredibly load SMACK. that explains the explosion sound and the shaking. its Amazing that people 5-6 miles away could feel and hear that. I got it the worst so it felt like a earthquake. glad no one got hurt

Glad to hear it was nothing, especially since I saw nothing about it on Twitter and saw nothing in the local papers' websites. Worried me that something like that would go unnoticed by so many people if it were actually an earthquake or any sort of seismic activity.

That is just a normal day out here..we get 1.2 and the 2.1 on a daily basis. We are just waiting for the San Andreas to go off the charts.
