Greg McElroy

You know, at the U of A, I really loved McElroy's talent. he looks like a potential Brady to me. Coming out of the draft, the big knock on Brady was his arm strength, which he improved. McElroy is the same way with the only real major weakness being his arm strength. He could do wonders in the Jets system of run first, conservative pass offense. Ryan has thought about benching 'Sanchize' before, so it wouldn't be a major surprise for him to actually do it, and put McElroy in. I think we could be witnessing the next Brady, but I'm not 100% sure yet. Just potential.

Whats your thoughts?

It is just the pre-season, but he's looked better than most rookie QBs that I've seen. I was high on him coming out of college because he's a really smart player, and I'm hoping he is the next Brady. I predicted McElroy would be the best QB of this draft class, so I'd like to see him succeed, even though he's from 'Bama.

I see a couple people share my opinion, I also think Greg is the next Tom Brady, but the problem is that he is on the Jets and most likely won't have a chance to take Sanchez's spot, so the Jets could pull a Belicheck, McElroy plays well and they trade him down the line for a high draft pick to a QB needy team.

Unless Sanchez does flop than maybe McElroy will be the savior for the Jets, not Sanchez.

I actually could see Sanchez being benched in favor of McElroy if Sanchez continues his poor regular season crap. He was almost benched last year for Mark Brunell. This year, Rex has a much better Qb in McElroy staring at him IMO. Plus, if he did get the starting job there, he would be a good fit, as it would be basically the same things he did at Bama.

And don't put Bama down people; the great Ozz came from there!

Any QB with solid decision making would do well in the Jets system, but that being said I don't think the Jets run a good offense. They rely on the run far too much, and it's probably the reason they won't get to the Super Bowl.

And I wasn't knocking 'Bama as a school or as a team, I dislike them because of my own college football allegiances.

Who do you like in college football? I live in UT (Tennessee) country, so thats all I hear about lol. I love the ACC though in all collegiate sports. Terps and Canes are my 2 faves.

I follow the Huskers and Gators. I'm still a little sore over 'Bama knocking Florida out of the National Championship a few years ago, even though garbage Tebow was the QB.

What was McElroy doing on that last play? That was absolutely terrible.

I like what I see from McElroy but my problem with him is why didn't the Ravens draft him when we chose Tyrod Taylor? Ozzie being from 'Bama I figure if both players were equal he would pull from his alma mater.

Taylor has a lot more upside than McElroy.

Honestly, he did ok - as good as anyone could hope for a rookie QB playing their first NFL action. He did fumble three times, though, and had a few passes get away from him. Still, that will happen with a rookie QB, not a bad start.

EDIT: Forgot about his horrendous INT that was called back. Didn't count, but it made an impression.

he looked worse than tyrod taylor

I have to agree. The QB who looked the best was Jake Locker who surprised me, he might very well be the best. I'm starting to think that he will have a better career than Cam Newton. It's just one game though. Christian got the job done and Blane did fine. The worst by far was Andy Dalton. Based off one game, we should all have the feeling that he sucks.

He threw a couple of great deep balls that were dropped. His pump fake didnt look great but it was surely effective. I think he has more skill than Sanchize IMO and has the football IQ edge. I wouldnt be surprised if Sanchez has already reached his ceiling and McElroy uproots him within the next 2 seasons.

Dude McElroy throws the worst " deep " ball ive ever seen. I mean he threw some straight up ducks out there. He made one good pass that shouldve been caught at the end of the game but thats it.
