He's played well most of the time. Yeah, he allowed some sacks tonight but Joe - and I'm not downing him for this for the sake of downing him - held onto the ball way too long. That's what happens when you're looking to make big plays happen so you can dig yourself out of a terrible hole your defense dug you into. I mean, their secondary knew that our only chance was to pass it in order to come back on them and they did exactly what they needed to do. Our receivers barely got any separation, and Joe held onto the ball too long hoping one of them would make a play. They didn't, and the blitz was coming. THAT is what happened....it's not just "Bryant McKinney is garbage". I'm proud he is on this team. He has been great during the run, and usually that opens up our passing game. Unfortunately, just like the other games we lost, we began passing too early. In fact, as soon as we began passing as much as we did early in the first my first thought was "Crap, we're going to lose tonight." I never thought it would be more on our defense than our offense, though.

I agree totally. Joe just takes too long to get rid of the ball.

Joe is who he is. He is what he is going to be. He is will be a solid QB. He won't be elite.
He still takes too long to make decisions. The elite QBs can read the defense at the line and attack the defense. Joe sits and looks like he didn't anticipate what the defense is doing. That's why he gets sacked all the time. No offensive line can hold that long. Joe needs to learn how to make quicker reads and if things aren't open than either run or throw the ball away. It's like he doesn't feel or see the pocket closing in on him.

He is a franchise QB. Not an elite QB. What we saw today is the same old thing. If the defense is playing well then we win. If the defense struggles then we will lose. Joe will rarely win the game himself. He needs a lot of help.
I totally agree about him holding the ball too long. As one poster was complaining about earlier: "Bryan McKinnie is garbage". I get tired of this when the man has made giant holes, followed by devastating blocks from leach, followed by big runs from rice. What happens after this? It opens up the passing game, and Joe can find an open man. What happens when begin passing it too early is that the D begins to expect and and adjusts to cover the receivers, and Joe won't make a quick decision. He holds it too long.

Flacco is now ranked(in all statiscal category) in the same category with the worst QBs in NFL this season. Half of them already kicked out or replaced with another 3rd stringers.

Sometimes, I think Rice is holding Flacco back. A lot of people are going to disagree to this but i just wish a game or two with ray rice resting. The reason is everytime flacco is in trouble, he looks for ray which is a smart thing to do in tight games. But he is not spreading the ball around and doing this a lot. For examples, there were too many dump offs during this game. If we don't get the first or second seed, I would limit rice, so flacco learns how to be a better qb without rice (dumping off).
If Flacco can't figure out how to spread the ball around by now then that's on him and the coaching.

Actually, his been in below average category since week 4. Now there is consistency Flacco can attain at least!

@the U, I agree with you. But this game is different. Chargers score on EVERY drive untill the last 5 mins. how are you going to expect a qb who is not a veteran and bunch of young wrs who can't get a sepration to do that every drive. This is all defense's fault. But Cundiff, -______-, can you guys agree with me now, get a another kicker.

@ratedr, I understand what you are saying, but flacco is not taking any risks which is not making him better. Our wr's are not the best at getting sepration. SO, MR. CONSERVATIVE flacco has to go out with the much safer option, I am not saying just throw that thing all over the place, but sometimes you got to hang around and make the play which he is doing a lot of the times. I just don't like dumping off too much.

Dude, Flacco is a veteran QB. He has been in league for 4 years now! Plus, we have one starting WR that is a rookie. The others are veterans themselves (Boldin, Evans). Ed Dickson is in his second year as a TE as well. So, yes, we expect them to get some separation. We expect them to play to their potential. Besides that, they're ALL professional athletes now and while we don't expect them to consistently make plays while they're rookies they certainly should be able to make a few plays as they are PROFESSIONALS. So, while the defense had a big part to play in this lose so did our offense.

Really? And we are going to the Superbowl with that Defense? Even if Flacco wakes up, doesnt fix the problems in that 2ndary.
Seriusly? The delay of Flacco in the pass, is not a reason? Obviously , thought that the return of Lewis, the defense would be more strong. We can't make mistakes like today.

The defense is obviously a big problem, this is the second game we have faced a team who used a west coast offensive approach to attacking our defense, the first being Tennessee. But we have to give credit where credit is due, the San Diego coaching staff did a great job identifying the weakness of our defense (the secondary, specifically the corners) and using three step drops to target them.

Becuase the corners had such a hard time keeping contain on their man, the pass rush became a non factor, its near impossible to effectively pass rush a Qb who throws the ball in under three seconds. Additionally, they did a great job chipping Suggs off the line, which definitely impacted his rush pace.

But, as you pointed out this is not something we can blame solely on the defense, for as badly as they did play the offense wasn't much better. Joe has to start getting rid of the ball, the guy leads the NFL in fumbles that says something. And this game cannot be blamed on the Oline they played great in run blocking, and gave Joe more than ample time to throw. The special teams also played pretty badly, just an all around bad performance.

I am angry. I am disgusted. Way to hand first seed to the Steelers, guys. *rage* Guess we all have to pray heavily that the Niners have enough power to beat the Steelers tonight...

And give credit where credit is due, the Chargers' gameplan was spot on.

Right. This game was the worst game i saw ever. We didn't had speed en offense, or force in defense. Obviously we will not win all the games, but for my tonight have received a shower of yards, and this is not a good way for the SuperBowl.

Makes one wonder: are we probably the easiest team to prepare for in the NFL? Other coaches must actually
look forward to playing us because Cam is so predictable. Now our D stinks as well.

Is Cam Cameron BLIND? I don't think he can see when it is time to call plays that call for the very QUICK pasess and less predictable running. The "O" line is the Ravens greatest weakness and having Joe hold the ball too long to set up a pass play is just asking for it. All season long it has been the same. I just don't understand why Cam is still calling the plays or why coaching doesn't allow for the changes in a game plan to accommodate and overcome the defense. Joe needs time to throw and the recievers need time to get open...can't the coaches see that the time isn't there? Time for a leadership change in Baltimore for sure.

Where was the shovel pass? Where were the screens? Flea flickers? End arounds? Half back pass? Draw play? Blocking? Deep ball? Fade route? Slant (except the final Torrey Smith catch)? Where was the sweep? Where is ANYTHING offensively? Guys, the defense is good, but if you make the defense play 45 mins of a 60 minute game...they ain't gonna get it done!

Please get rid of Cam Cameron!!!

Ravens loss as they need to win these next two games. In hopes of getting a first or second round bye. As well as hopefully, homefield advantage.
Yeah Joe stunk it up but I can give him a little slack only because the poor defensive performance put the offense behind the 8 ball. He was trying to force things. The D just was ....wow. Of course, there is something to be said for the playcalling too. Why are we doing screens and checkdowns and short across the middle to Rice? Why didn't we throw anything downfield? Cam sucks too.
Seriously???? Was the pick to Takeo Spikes forced or did he un-cloak and snatch it? Let's not make excuses he stank it up just like the defense.

We should all be down on our hands and knees right now with our eyes lifted high up to heaven praising God, because the 49ers are saving our butts right now. Merry Christmas to you too, Jim Harbaugh.

Well my record of posting first without a loss has been squashed (don't know if its because FF messed with it). Since I believe in superstitions I am going to concede my seeking of posting first this week.
