it leaves a bad taste in your mouth that the 2 guys we got rid of had the biggest impact for the chargers

Remember the Seattle game in which Hauschka played well and the Indy game last year in which Stover kicked five field goals? This might be a trend.

We have 2 more conference/division games on our schedule. The only way to be #1 seed is to win both games, Houston losing one of their 2, and New England losing both of their games.

How you gonna expect Flacco to have a great night when they are dropping 8 guys for coverage. 4wrs-8cover guys. Other than the first int, it was not his fault. Boldin has to do better getting sepration.

You got it, man. I was seeing multiple pass defenders on our WR all night. Torrey made some nice grabs in spite of it, though.

McKinnie needs to get more abuse. Barnes had FOUR sacks and they got home on 3 man rushes twice, thanks to big Bryant.

The guy is GARBAGE.

If Baltimore beats Cleveland at home, they can automically clinch the AFC North depsite what Pittsburgh does. That's as far I know
You sure about that? Because if Pitt wins out they have a better record than us, period

Here is what I am thinking, @ammaj, boldin should still be in our starting line up next year but let evans go. He isn't a factor. Draft a TALLLLLL, FAST like torrey and make him our third guy. Then Q2, Doss, Reed can rotate as the 4th receiver. I am not worried or confident in flacco yet. I know he can make every throw he wants. It comes down on his decision-making and playcalling.

that's only if the steelers lose one game. right now they have the better record and would be the division leader. if we end up with the same record by the end of the season then we win bc we hold the tie breaker

Sometimes, I think Rice is holding Flacco back. A lot of people are going to disagree to this but i just wish a game or two with ray rice resting. The reason is everytime flacco is in trouble, he looks for ray which is a smart thing to do in tight games. But he is not spreading the ball around and doing this a lot. For examples, there were too many dump offs during this game. If we don't get the first or second seed, I would limit rice, so flacco learns how to be a better qb without rice (dumping off).

@raven5286 IF both teams win out then Steelers have better record and win the division. If the Stools, I mean Squeeler lose tomorrow and both teams win out on all subsequent games then we win the division, and probably are looking at a #2 seed unless New England loses again.

John Harbaugh, please upload every game film and game plan immediately to the 49ers servers. I would have started that in the 4th quarter. I think a 1 day detour to Jim's facilities by the entire coaching staff may be the best bet.

@chilloutpeople- yea that's plausible, i mean we never really had a big go-to WR who could really complement torrey's game. but yea, i have stuck with flacco throughout cause i know he is a good QB, not elite though. but its the decision making that he has sometimes, like today on the two picks, the first one was terrible, omg he did the same thing in the jacksonville game! i really want to see us take more downfield shots with torrey, there isnt anybody who can match his speed

don't forget about this scenario:

@chilloutpeople- no, man, i'm right there with u. flacco looks for rice toooo often!! i mean, this could be on the WRs and TEs for not getting separation and u know flacco wants to get the ball downfield but it almost seems as if rice is his first or second option

When did all the people from the News section find the Gameday section? All these "@"s have me terrified.

He's played well most of the time. Yeah, he allowed some sacks tonight but Joe - and I'm not downing him for this for the sake of downing him - held onto the ball way too long. That's what happens when you're looking to make big plays happen so you can dig yourself out of a terrible hole your defense dug you into. I mean, their secondary knew that our only chance was to pass it in order to come back on them and they did exactly what they needed to do. Our receivers barely got any separation, and Joe held onto the ball too long hoping one of them would make a play. They didn't, and the blitz was coming. THAT is what happened....it's not just "Bryant McKinney is garbage". I'm proud he is on this team. He has been great during the run, and usually that opens up our passing game. Unfortunately, just like the other games we lost, we began passing too early. In fact, as soon as we began passing as much as we did early in the first my first thought was "Crap, we're going to lose tonight." I never thought it would be more on our defense than our offense, though.

We clinched tonight, if the Steelers do win tomorrow, they have the Rams and the Browns left. Should we rest our starters for the playoffs since we will probably be on the road as a wildcard? Why take chance for injuries and get healthy for the playoffs. Just a thought, because the way the Rams played today they are not beating Pittsburgh and the Browns are a long shot.

Joe is who he is. He is what he is going to be. He is will be a solid QB. He won't be elite.
He still takes too long to make decisions. The elite QBs can read the defense at the line and attack the defense. Joe sits and looks like he didn't anticipate what the defense is doing. That's why he gets sacked all the time. No offensive line can hold that long. Joe needs to learn how to make quicker reads and if things aren't open than either run or throw the ball away. It's like he doesn't feel or see the pocket closing in on him.

He is a franchise QB. Not an elite QB. What we saw today is the same old thing. If the defense is playing well then we win. If the defense struggles then we will lose. Joe will rarely win the game himself. He needs a lot of help.
