Well I'm happy I'm not looking through the eyes of some of these posters , some of whom have a loose grip on reality. Whatever the case-Dalton outplayed Flacco and thats the bottom line! Put whatever label you want on it.
How does a guy that threw 3 interceptions and had a qb rating of 60 outplay a guy whose rating was over 100? How?

You can't be serious. Flacco had one bad throw, as bone-headed as it was, and was fantastic the rest of the game.

Andy Dalton: 60.69 QB Rating
Joe Flacco: 105.4 QB Rating

Not taking away from Dalton's performance, he looked great out there for a rookie. I'm sure he'll be giving us fits for many years to come. He's definitely got my vote for Rookie Of The Year. However, I believe what everyone is seeing & saying is that -- Dalton may've looked really good on the film, but the numbers don't reflect. Not just his completion to attempt ratio, or his TD to INT ratio, but the numbers on the scoreboard. Dalton looked good, but kept turning it over. Flacco, didn't look stellar, but he looked consistent.

I'll take consistent over stellar any day.

Offense looked good, but still seemed flat. Not to mention, their scoring drives were WAY too fast for my liking. Didn't give our defense a chance to really get a breather. Special Teams, aside from Cundiff, was nonexistent due to all the touchbacks. But no turnovers on S/T this week. HOOZAH!

Because he plays with a fire that Flacco can't even imagine. He has a sense of urgency that Flacco doesn't have. He ran our defense ragged and he had 3 interceptions one of which was because of a sensational catch by Webb.. At least he wasn't afraid to tuck the ball under his arm and run-which he does very well. He made tremendous throws while under extreme pressure. Mark my words he will be rookie of the year. You Flacco Pom Pom wavers really make this blog interesting.

I agree still on the down side of time of posession, Bengals had it for five more minutes, honestly the defense coming up with the three turn overs was huge for us!!!!

Yes, i believe I do. I see Dalton as a rookie who's playing well, but certainly not at an elite, or even top 10 level. And I see Flacco as a qb who has really struggled this year, but somehow has shown the ability to beat the Steelers twice in the same season, something nobody not named Tom Brady has accomplished in the last decade. And all of a sudden you are calling Dalton elite and somehow claiming he's a better quarterback than Flacco. Flacco has gone through one of the worst streaks of his career, yet still owns three wins over last year's AFC Championship teams, led a big comeback against Arizona in which he threw three TDs that were all dropped, led a game-winning drive against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Pittsburgh, and just today shredded a top-10 passing defense. These all occurred in reality. Flacco is inconsistent, and NOT elite, but he is a much better quarterback than Dalton is at this point in their careers.

How do I know you have no grasp of reality? I think you can't be more than 14 years old, and I'll tell you why. The week before the Pittsburgh game you did nothing but trash Flacco and you said you prayed we lost against Pittsburgh so that we could get rid of Flacco. That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard if indeed you are a Ravens fan. What fan hopes their team loses to its arch rival. Then after he beat Pitt you posted a topic entitled "Joe Flacco Our Franchise Quarterback" and said he'd lead us to a Superbowl. Now he just beat up on the historically toughest team for him to play and helped lead us to 1st place in both our division and the ENTIRE AFC, and you're claiming Andy "3 INTS today" Dalton is the man and saying Joe Flacco sucks. Do you even read your previous posts or do you just say whatever you want and forget what you've posted before? I really don't get where you're coming from at all. You sound very childish in all of your ranting posts. I don't mean to be insulting, but I will say that I believe with 100 percent certainty that between the two of us, I have a much firmer grasp on both my own mind and on reality in general.

If I could give you positive rep a thousand times for this post, I would..

now thats not true either, he was very very accurate today except on three throws, he <destroyed> cary williams on very accurate throws in which he had very tight coverage.. hes GOING to be very good, but for wizard to say hes better than flacco and hes elite is also wrong

Ha...and to think, people showed you respect when you were forced (through a bet) to make a positive thread about Flacco. Silly! Complete silliness if you think 52% completion percentage and 3 INTs is better! You're back showing your true colors and looking clueless while doing it! Congrats to you!

Ravens fans catching a lot of heat on the NFL forums for the overturned call toward the end of the fourth quarter.

I personally, saw Gresham have his left foot planted on the turf when he got control of the ball, took one step inbound in the endzone. By this time, Williams was already on his back. Gresham's next step was out of bounds, and he lost control of the ball when he hit the ground.

Now, my understanding of the rules is: a receiver isn't considered a 'runner' until he has taken two-steps. Since Gresham only technically had one, he was still a receiver and he lost control of the ball when he hit the ground.

Am I correct in my thinking?

Considered a receiver, not considered...not of that matters. Its simple really. Must maintain possession thru the entire act of catching the ball. This includes the portion of taking the ball to the ground. He did not maintain control the entire way through. Bogus rule, but called to perfection.

The reason I bring up the 'two-step' part of it is because, if he had caught the ball at say the 20-yard line and dove into the endzone and lost possession, then there wouldn't even be a debate; TD. In this case, he never took two-steps which is why I believe the officials overturned it. If you're considered a runner, the ground cannot cause a fumble. If you're a receiver, you can't use the ground to help maintain control.

As you said, none of it really matters at this point. Just curious.

BTW: To anyone else worried about the horse-collar tackle on Dalton; the horse-collar rule does not apply to QBs unless they are running the ball. As Dalton was looking to pass, the horse-collar rule didn't apply.

Andy Dalton is an eltie QB-he has a fire that great QBs have-he will beat us in Cincinnati. He played better that Flacco and made our defense look like it was playing in sand-He is Rookie of the Year That's a done deal! Better get used to playing Andy Dalton-Can't believe im say this I have cincy!
andy is a good "rookie" QB bruh! that's it! he is playing exceptionally well...along with Cam Newton. it is impressive to see. however, to crown him as an "elite" QB is quite ridiculous. then...for you as a "supposedly" Ravens fan to say that you got Cincy when the Ravens play them again....just go ahead and move your membership from the Ravens to another team! and...to say that he played better than Flacco is typical cause you dislike Flacco...we all get that about you bruh! that's old news now!

I'm still in shock over the fact that Dalton threw for 373 yards against us. That is not good. Luckily we held them back from the last 10 yards he needed.

It was all those deep ball completions and 45 attempts. Cincy has some weapons on offense and a great O-line. Dalton still threw 3 picks and had a pretty bad passer rating.

webb int was also.. Led receiver too far.
Well unless the receiver was late or slow on his cut but i dont remember seeing anything abnormal
Yeah I just couldn't remember because so many guys got int's today. I think Webb would have had a pick six earlier if he had gone for the ball with both hands. Instead he knocked it down with one hand. But dang. I would have thought Webb was a WR before this with those hands.

Actually, just a couple of years ago, the David Garrard-led Jaguars beat Pittsburgh 3 times in a single season. Twice in the reg season, then once in the playoffs. I'm hoping the same happens for us this year.

My bad, it was only twice, but still in the same season (2007).

Once in regular season, once in the playoffs. Just sayin that it has been done before...and hopefully will be done again
