Since I see there isn't one, now there is one.

As a Penn Stater, I am highly interested in the new look Big Ten: will Ohio State miss a few steps in light of all that has happened (quite frankly I would be perfectly happy if they just fell down the whole flight)? How will Nebraska and the new Michigan do? Will Brady Hoke be able to finally beat Ohio State? Will Joe Pa keep from getting run over on the sidelines for a third time???? Yes I went there. Lulz.

Also wanted to hear thoughts on what's going on with Texas A&M. Sounds like they have a lot of beef with Texas, just like Nebraska did. To me, how it all plays out will be interesting.

I want to see what Weis can do with John Brantley at Florida.

If he can make Cassel look like a top 15 Quarterback then he should be able to make Brantley look like a top 5 pick and possible Heisman candidate.

Let's see what Edsall can do with the Terps. Hopefully restore the football team back to glory!

Edsall grew up near my hometown. We were all overjoyed when he got the UConn job...and now UMD? We got a lil county pride going on between Edsall on the college level and John Kuhn in the pros. :D

Yeah it's definitely a step up, but he literally built that program from scratch. I'm really optimistic about him, but that certainly doesn't speak for all Terp fans haha.

I am looking forward to the college season, especially in regard to the Big Ten. Just to see how Nebraska will do in this conference, as well as seeing the "new and improved" Michigan side, and most certainly Wisconsin.

In regard to the other sides, I suppose the Mountain West will have to contend with Boise State, and when their conference see that they cannot legislate Boise from winning regardless of uniform colors, then there will be quite a situation.

Finally, the Pac-12 should be good, and in particular regarding Oregon State. I'll have to admit that Oregon rather rubs me the wrong way, and with Southern Cal on serious NCAA sanction, the Beavers are my fave-rave for the season.

Randy Edsall is a good defensive minded coach so it will be good to see the Terps make stride on the defensive sides and shut down potent offenses they meet. I've always liked Miami so it should be fun to see them play in person on opening day (with a Terps W to kick of the Edsall era!).

Really, Miami?

What do you think the NCAA will do about the Miami allegations?
Apparently, if theseclaims get verified, the football program(maybe other sports too) could get the "death penalty".

I don't see how the rediculously corrupt NCAA can punish a school because of a few corrupt former players. If they give Miami's programs the death penalty then surely the NCAA has to do the same to itself, since it's more corrupt than Miami and any of the players who took improper benefits, no?

72 current/former players from that program is more than a few. It is disappointing that the NCAA repeatedly let's this happen, though, that's for sure.

This just brings out the hypocrisy of college football.
Paul Dee is a former NCAA infractions committee chairman, the sheriff in charge of sentencing NCAA wrongdoers. He's the guy who sat in judgment of USC when the program was burned to the ground, then scolded the school for letting it happen.

"High profile players demand high-profile compliance," Dee said 14 months ago in reference to Reggie Bush.

There have been few more hypocritical words spoken in the history of NCAA enforcement.

Now it's Dee's former football program that resembles a five-alarm blaze. It looks for all the world like Miami's former AD fiddled while Coral Gables burned. Shapiro, a booster, detailed to Yahoo! an eight-year run of lavish payoffs that would make SMU, circa 1987, blush.

If the infractions committee chairman's school is committing some of most heinous crimes in NCAA history, the system is not only broken, it is beyond repair. CBSSports.com found that, counting Dee, three of the last six infractions committee chairpersons have been allowed to operate within the system despite having their records stained by wrongdoing or embarrassing court dealings.
http://sports.yahoo.com/investigations/news?slug=cr-renegade_miami_booster_details_illicit_benefits_081611

The NCAA is openly one of the most corrupt organizations I have seen. If Dee nearly gave USC the death penalty for their violations--what will happen to the school he formerly was in charge of which has allegations worse than even compared to SMU?

Why is it wrong that players are vilified when they receive compensation for their play, yet the coaches--like Pete Caroll and Jim Tressell--can get away scott free plus leave with millions?

The whole system has to be torn down because it's clear the NCAA is terribly inefficient and hypocritical. They don't want players to receive compensation for their play--yet are happy to deal with TV contracts that create hundreds of millions in revenue that goes to the administrations? The definition of "amateurism" that the NCAA keeps trotting out is a farce--the term needs to be updated so the obvious exposure of cheating and corruption can end.

Precisely.

And it is. I think the fallout from this is going to be far-reaching in a lot of directions.

Why has Donna Shalala not resigned or been fired yet? Or is she is still staring at that $50,000 that Shapiro gave her?

If you think The U is the only program doing this kind of stuff, you're sorely mistaken... this is only the beginning.

Ok...don't know if there's a thread on this and I'm too tired to go looking and see:

Your opinion on the Pryor situation?

He's in the supplemental draft (which I happen to think is a righteous joke on the NFL's part) but if a team [s]picks him up[/s] is willing to touch him with a ten foot pole, he'll be suspended the first five games of the season for failing to cooperate with NCAA investigators and hiring an agent against NCAA rules (per Sportscenter).

Would anyone be willing to take a chance on this guy knowing of his character issues....

Something has occurred to me concerning this impending college football campaign - the ruling of the Mountain West that Boise State cannot wear their all-blue uniforms at home. Their claim is that it would prove to be an unfair advantage for the Broncos, as their field is already blue.

How do any of you feel concerning this little ruling by the Mountain West? I welcome your responses and comments.

Stupid ruling , what about the teams that wear green jerseys playing on a green field. I guess Michigan State, Marshall and Hawai'i should change their colors??

I've always been a fan of The U, so it's hard to watch what's going on with the program right now... I also like the Terps but don't see us making much noise this year.
