So excited for the game... it makes it so much better that it's televised over here as well.

We'd better get the W though, it's going to be a rough season for people who get touchy about Flacco criticism if we don't.

Cannot wait for the Ravens to demolish the Steelers!

If you're first, you have to make some sort of pool reference. Even the mods do it. Peer Pressure.

Just want to say this now, the Steelers are returning all their starters I do believe...maybe 1 or two will be new...the Ravens have 20 new guys on the 53 man roster and quite a few new starters...because of the lockout its going to be tougher for us to look good early than it will be for the Steelers.

I think the team will get better as the season goes on, I'm not giving up..I still think the Ravens can win, I just want to bring some perspective to things

That all makes sense it's almost as though the winner will be the one who the football gods (so to speak) shine on the most.

It's good they have the same squad because we know what they bring to the table... the Steelers have no idea how we're going to use Evans, Leach, and the new pieces on D. I think we have an advantage in that regard.

According to Ashley Fox at ESPN, the Steelers have 21 out of 22 starters on both sides of the ball returning from last season, and only 1 new guy.

I would also counter-argue the possibility that the Steelers having the same lineup and coordinators/staff as last season could be a disadvantage for them because there is so much film to study and the Ravens have a lot of experience against them, so they can prepare, knowing what to expect. The Steelers on the other hand are facing a team with a wholly reorganized offensive line, new receiving corps, new cornerbacks, new players at many positions across both sides of the ball, and a new defensive coordinator and a new approach to offense with Jim Zorn no longer coaching Flacco and Harbaugh and Cam putting more time in with Flacco themselves. They don't have as much film to study of what our current team is going to be playing like. So from a pre-game preparation standpoint, they are at a disadvantage.

I'm not taking this game as seriously as a lot of fans seem to at the moment. Obviously I'm extremely excited, but I don't see anything even resembling a must win.

I actually think we lose this game. I mean think about it. Our o-line will need some time to gel, and we have a lot of new faces on both sides of the ball. Teams just don't automatically get chemistry from week 1. Pittsburgh on other hand, has almost no turnover in terms of the core team.

Thats not to say that I expect us to lose the division. I think we end up with 11 or 12 wins. The rest just depends on how the Steelers play, and our SNF @Pittsburgh game. Now thats a game, I'd consider a must win.

If we do lose this Sunday, I expect armageddon on this board, and that just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

That's exactly how I feel too. We are asking a lot of the new players to gel immediately. It's hard for that to happen. As it stands the Steelers have more consistency than we do simply because they have more of the same players as last years. I see this team making its impact later in the year and against teams they should beat.

I'm emotionally prepared for a loss, and because it's expected, it certainly helps keep me cool. Thankfully I won't be anywhere near a computer during the game.

If I see a 3-man rush this week (or ever again), I just might lose it lol.
[/quote]
I'm more worried about the offense.

The D seems to be in good hands imo.

If we do lose, I am mentally prepared to shoot down crazy talk. Because there will be a whole lot of it.

I can't believe this game isn't being nationally televised. I've got the option to watch Bills at Chiefs or Falcons at Bears, and needless to say I'm quite angry about this.
