Preseason 3 - Baltimore Ravens Ravens Vs. Washington Redskins

I forgot to post in here instead of the other ones sorry. I loved the game. Flacco lit it up. But I agree with Stix. I think Reid did a good job. He held his own for the most part, but handling Kerrigan is tough. And the one safety/corner blitz they brought on the blind side we didnt pick up. And I also think Jimmy will be good given more time. The lockout really hurt. Too bad he didnt have a pair of hands in the end zone. Almost intercepted it. And I wish we could have seen Kindle or Kruger opposite of Suggs. I felt so bad from Kindle. He almost had that one sack. And had I been the Redskins QB at the end of the game seeing McPhee getting loud and amped, I probably would have needed a change of pants.

That was the most exciting preseason game I've ever seen lol.

I agree, I have never had so much fun at a preseason game.

I went to the game last night and re-watched it this morning... Flacco was getting a lot of praise, and it was well-deserved. If he had any sort of professional O-line, he would have been lights out.

My biggest concern is our end-of-half defense and how we seem to have the propensity to give up TDs or FGs with less than 3 minutes left.

I still say that a lot of plays against us in those drives the last two weeks would not have happened during the regular season. Our vets on defense aren't going to be lights out in the pre-season, it's too big of a risk.

Yeah, but going back to the regular season last year (Falcons, Buffalo, Pitt, Texans, etc.) that's a disturbing trend.

While our defensive collapses from last season are disturbing, I think we improved as a unit this year, especially in the secondary. A lot of the problems we had stemmed from the secondary and a passive defensive scheme. We have a better CB group this year and our defensive coordinator seems to understand the concept of blitzing, so I think some of those issues will go away. If McKinnie can play LT sufficiently, our drives will be longer which will give the defense more time to rest, which was an issue last season. A lot of the problems that caused those collapses have been addressed, and I don't think that will be a frequent occurrence this season.

No it was one Reed. It was a "Cover" scheme and Reed was gambling instead of being topside blanket. Smith thought he had help over the top thats why he was eyeing the underneath receiver.
[/quote]
That was completely on Smith. How exactly did Reed gamble? He backpedaled towards the end zone to cover the middle, as he was supposed to, until the ball was thrown. Even the announcers called it. Smith was assigned the deep 3rd, and he blew it. Not exactly the best idea to jump inside to double a 3 yard out route on 3rd and 15 and allow to Santana Moss streak by you.
