Preseason 2 - Baltimore Ravens Vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Offense is getting better, Flacco just need a little bit better timing and we will have a offense to be feared. But our season is soooo over because we had a slow star, right?

I love the hysteria during game day (night) threads! Now I know why so many of the regulars don't show for these things!

I dunno, I think way too much is made of the very few and vocal hysterical people that pop in, yell something, and then disappear.

Flacco continues to prove that he can't grow as an NFL quarterback after three long suffering years depending on the "D" to win the games. Tonight he needed to stay in the entire game and work on his basic Pro-Quarterback play. As for Cam his play calling was typical, predictable, ineffective, worthless, etc... at best! We are back in the Billick/Boller, gonna hang on until the fairy tale comes true days, which will never ever occur! Good luck ravens maybe after failing in the first eight games Harbaugh will make an impressive and needed coaching/player decision!

Well here's the thing. It may be the preseason but as a fan (and coach for that matter) you want to see SOMETHING, some glimpse of improvement, and most definitely a sliver of sustainable offense. So far we haven't seen that. And what seems to be worrying most fans (and me too) is that the contending teams seem to be doing just that, and the up-and-comers seem to be doing just that. We are just as stagnant as we were for the better part of last season. Defense is looking good but the depth is definitely worrying as well

Some people need to relax. I said it last week... and I'll say it again - that the Lions, 3 years ago, went 4-0 in the preseason, and 0-16 in the regular season.
This. People are freaking out over nothing. We improved leaps and bounds from last week. Are there still problems? Of course. Will we work them out? Of course, Ozzie is our GM.

So let's look at the stats - the Ravens have 196 yds, the Chiefs - a playoff team last year - has 240. We're losing by 3. NOT a disaster...
Alright first, I never said anything about it being a "disaster", secondly, you completely missed my point. Nobody cares about win-loss records. Nobody cares about ANY specific stat because it doesn't tell you anything about matchups and who's responsible for what play. That's why we're talking about how the players are PLAYING, and not talking about the stats.

I agree, it is normally some "pop ins" (Seinfeld anyone?) that stir the pot, but its still hilarious!

why dont they try t. smith or doss at returner? both have experience in college and both are very good. Smith is an absolute burner

Those would be useful stats if we were actually worried about our pre-season win-loss record. We're watching to see how the players actually PLAY, not what the score is.

well obviously the lions played well enough that preseason to beat the other teams players. if you actually think the preseason is any indicator on how these teams wills play in the regular season than you are really mistaken. the ravens always look like sh.t in the preseason and yet always make the playoffs.

Im sorry but i do not want to see anymore Flacco threads about him being Elite, he isnt.

He is playing scared, and like usual same old , same old play calling. Its getting old, Doesnt Cam know Boldin is not a deep threat player but yet you still see him running down the field.

On a good note. im loving Lee Evans and Cary Williams.

I thought the biggest problem last week was pass protection. This week it's MUCH improved, much less pressure, less sacks. What I don't like is 14 rushing attempts, 28 passing attempts. Yes, it's preseason, but you can bring the OLine together by establishing the run.

you watch because its football. you watch to see the new guys. and considering this team went to the divisional round of the playoffs last year i dont see how our offense "ruined us". in fact it was our offense that bailed us out of a lot of games last year and should have won us the steeler game. give me a break. you know why you watch the preseason. its not to see a finished polished product.
When did our offense bail us out of any games last year? The only time that was ALMOST the case was the Falcons game, but it ended up being too little, too late. This offense turned the ball over THREE times in our own half of the field against Pittsburgh and failed to put up a single point in that playoff game. The offense held this team back last year.

1st team defense is amazing, but we have absolutely no depth there.

The offense as a whole is garbage. They couldn't even get anything going against KC's backups.

So this team is a SB contender how?

What are you talking about? We've seen plenty from our backups. Kruger, McPhee, Jones, Doss... and the O-line has been vastly improved compared to last game. We've seen what a threat Evans can be, and how Leach can open big holes for Ray Rice. These guys on the field now are not even gonna make the team.

The first team D was amazing this evening. Aside from Flacco being in some sort of funk (haters will say it was his typical showing and that he sucks) we have not looked "horrible" as some have put it.

Newcomers, Leach and Evans, looked great. Rice played well. Koch is playing (kicking) well. Billy nailed a deep one!

Did Dickson play tonight? I missed the 1st Qtr.

Yep, and he had one catch for 4 yds

"To beat the other teams players" is deliberately vague. You know you're still talking about the team records, and I've said that I don't care about wins and losses, but you keep harping on it.

We need to get Birk back in there. His quarterbacking the line is huge. At least Steve thinks he'll be ready for Game 1.

KC is looking better than us, Philli looked better than us and we'll see what Wash does to us.
Reedidy said it right!...
