My brother and I were just laughing at how Maybin vs Oneill Cousins would be the most pathetic matchup ever....a pass rusher who cant pass rush verse a OT who cant block.Moral of the story is Maybin sucks.
Man, that made me think of the South Park episode where Jimmy and Timmy fight...

I'm tempted to put money on Rex kicking Maybin's tires. The Jets have no pass rushers and Rex'll think that he can turn him into a monster off the edge.

If we sign him Rex or the Redskins will want him even more, could be a great opportunity for Ozzie to fleece 'em! ;) Serously the O line is where the real need lies.

Does anybody think the ravens will or should go after the former Buffalo Bill, Aaron Maybin. He is an OLB/DE.
No he, had ample opportunity in Buffalo, better to develop the talent we have here.

Aaron Maybin has never produced and hasn't lived up to his high draft status at all. If we could pick him up for the bare minimum and perhaps Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and Terrell Suggs can get his career on track; because I am pretty he uses performance-enhancing drugs.

yeah dude was a BUST, this is a guy Rex Ryan would go after tho, he thinks he could help Gholston

If we could that would be cool. We could tell him to forget everything the bills taught him and remake him

What's the harm in signing him and letting him compete for the rest of camp? I can say pretty confidently that if he fell to the Ravens in that draft, they would have picked him. He has a lot of potential and is still very young. People jump to conclusions too quickly. Some people here are all for keeping certain receivers on the practice squad for 4 years, but won't take a flyer on a college star who was a top 15 pick only 2 years ago? He's not a trouble maker or anything like that, it just never clicked in Buffalo. I always thought that some players' careers and development are determined by where they are drafted. Jimmy Smith comes here, he can be a star. He goes to the Bengals, his bust potential goes way up. Maybin had the misfortune of being drafted by an anemic bills defense. Why not give him a shot here?

He weighs 225 pounds now. What position would you propose he play? Just curious...

I believe he will join a team like the colts that use both "pass rush specialist regardless of size or lack there of" or he would fit there smaller lb core. For the Tampa 2 scheme.

Eagles have unproven lbs he may sign there.

This will be his 3rd yr in league. I wouldn't label him a complete bust because the bills have never had any coaches worth respecting.

No, he was 228 about three weeks ago. They didn't say they cut him because he couldn't get his weight up in training camp. For all we know, he could be 235-240 now. Either way, let him compete as a pass rush specialist. He can do special teams stuff until he gets his weight up and fixes whatever issues he had. He likely won't see time on the defense anyways. Just keep him around for a year and let him compete next year when he has an offseason to add weight and the coaches give him a plan on how much to add for what position they envision him at.

Blitzing Safety.

He and Pollard coming flying down from the secondary at Quarterbacks. That's how we improve our pass rush!

(This is a joke, by the way. I think Maybin sucks and will be working in White Castle soon enough.)

I heard we're going to sign Aaron Maybin & Chuck Pagano is going to convert him from OLB to WB.

We'll see if he pans out, though.

I dont care how sorry the BUF defense was, never getting a single sack his entire career, as a pass rusher, is just all that needs to be said about his potential. You cant polish a turd.

def not a need for us at all bt how can you loose so much weight...
He was never all that big to begin with, always had more of a basketball player's build - very lean. He was ~245 lbs for the combine and that was probably the biggest he ever was by far.

Yes I completely agree with you and the big fact is that this would only be Maybin's 3rd year in the league so he's still very young and inexperienced. IMO I just think it's worth a shot because there was obviously a reason why this guy was a consensus top pick at the time he was drafted. Clearly he had the skills that teams thought would translate to the NFL level and if Chuck Pagano is as great a Defensive Co-ordinator as we all think he is then maybe he can put him in a better position to succeed or work with him in order to get better potential out of him. This guy was on a poor Bills D and their coaching likely wasn't as good as ours. If he does manage to find his game again and reach his potential, we would have a very talented player.

I think the Staff would rather spend the valuable roster spots and playing time to Paul Kruger, Sergio Kindle, and Albert McClellan. These guys are showing some great flashes and might solve our pass rushing woes. Imagine if we got three players with 10+ sacks.

No. for youthful project kindle gets to take snaps.
Maybin has trouble sustaining weight which likely means an inability to maintain strength.

He can learn on someone elses dime. Only person to come in and take away from.what baltimore already has should be a proven vet.

Why would anyone consider maybin or any other unfulfilled potential to replace the unfullfilled potential we already have.

Think of it like adding evans at wr. You only add proving guys to help our youth. You wouldnt get heyward bey because you felt tandon or torrey werent quite ready

If we sign Maybin and Jamarcus Russel, we can then focus on O-line.
If we sign jamarcus we are focusing on the line.
Oh lets also sign jared lorenzen too

I dont care either way if we do sign him at a minimum who knows where we could place him the problems i have read is that he is just a quick athletic player he doesnt offer any physical strong assets that the Ravens love to have. Once he engaged with a lineman he is done and he is horrible agaisnt the run he cant shed a blocker so basically unless he improves those thing he wont be on this team but its worth a shot the guy was a 1st rounder there has to be something he can be used for. I mean at a minimum he can do special teams as far as im concerned.
