7 posts in this topic

I love football but for some reason have never tried fantasy football...dont ask why I have no idea lol. Anyways I just completed my first draft and this is what I got. Let me know what you think and maybe if I should try to replace someone or whatnot. Its just a ten team league the one on yahoo(head to head).

QB-Flacco(was planning on drafting him just because I think he will have an awesome year and I got him in like the 7th round),Matt Cassell

RB(my weakest position,imo)-Matt Forte,Knowshon Moreno,Pierre Thomas,Felix Jones

WR-Andre Johnson,Larry Fitz,Mike Williams(TB), Braylon Edwards,Danny Amendola

TE-Vernon Davis,Kellen Winslow

K-Stephen Gostkowski(NE)

Def-NE

Usually when post fantasy drafts, you list a round by round listing of your picks, that way people can see what players you got good value out of, or reached for.

Just by looking at your roster, it's pretty good. Running back is pretty weak for you, but it looks more like a high risk/high reward selection for you. Forte scored a lot of points for me last year, so if he can do that again this year, you have a solid number one. Moreno is risky, he's been disappointing so far, and Willis is there to potentially steal away the starting spot. However, Knowshon's apparently shown up at camp in the best shape of his career, so he could have a great year. Thomas is plagued by the injury bug, and Ingram is in the backfield now, so that could hurt his stock. Although if Thomas stays healthy, he'll be good depth for you. Jones is the starter in Dallas, so you have someone who could potentially crack your starting two running backs. I've frequently drafted him last season, but he's been terribly inconsistent. Luckily, him landing the starting gig might fix that issue.

You have a great tight end group and receiver group though. So just by looking at your roster, I'd say it was pretty solid.

Lol...i had no idea I could go back and see who I drafted where. I had the 8th pick out of ten and my full intention was to grab a stub RB but all 7 picks before me were RBs. When it came to my turn I decided to change my strat up a bit and get stacked at WR instead(hoping it pays off).

1st round-Andre Johnson

2nd-Larry Fitz

3rd-Matt Forte(had to grab a RB sometime but in hindsight believe i reached here)

4th-Mike Williams(TB)

5th-Knowshon Moreno(was just hoping the reports were true about him being in great shape!)

6th-Vernon Davis(TEs started coming off the board around here, well Gates anyways and I really wanted Davis)

7th-Flacco(loved this pick in the 7th :))

8th-Felix Jones(Got to looking at my RBs so far and figured I might take a shot on Jones as he could be a high reward player, but the risk is there to)

9th-Stephen Gostkowski(Kickers started coming off the board the round before this so I decided to grab the NE kicker as I expect them to score a lot and at least ill get the PAT every game, lol.)

10th-NE defense(This one I really wasn't to sure about as it seemed some people were just planning on picking up a different D every week, maybe a little insight on that strat?)

11th-Kellen Winslow(decent value I thought here in the 11th)

12th-Braylon Edwards(kind of hoping he has an ok season, not really a huge fan but he could be a decent value)

13th-Matt Cassell(just needed a backup QB for the bye weeks and possibly the steelers games depending who the chiefs are playing)

14th-Danny Amendola(I will be honest here I just like this kid for some reason :))

15th- Pierre Thomas(werent too many good players left so I just took a shot on this one as RB is my weakest position)

Sorry I didnt post the round I drafted in earlier I had forgot who I got where and didnt know Icould go back and look(damn fantasy noob!)

P.S-Season 3 starts september 9th I believe and SoA is the only show besides football I watch on TV on a consistent basis :).

Pretty good draft. Jones in the eighth is a great low risk/high reward pick. Amendola is a quality pick, Bradford likes him and he'll get a lot of looks. Great depth.

I normally wait until the later rounds to draft a kicker and defense, but you still did well even after going early for them. Just don't let other players dictate when you draft a position, especially kickers and defenses. Even if elite kickers are being taken early, you can still snag a quality, low profile player in later rounds.

Flacco & Cassel is good I got them both but my league is different. Cassel is a big sleeper. Had good year last year and Cheifs added more weapons this offseason. RBs do look pore. WRs look stacked. Maybe you can trade Fitz and Moreno for a better back. Like Rice,Mccoy, mendenhall, turner or gore. IMO I would try to trade for a better RB to go with Forte. Trade Fitz cuz Andre is the best. and Williams has potential

Hmmm yea I might try to do that. Instead of reaching for a 2nd tier RB since all the elites were gone I just decided to try to get stacked and trade something. I really want to try and get Rice on my team as I think he will be awesome this year. Thanks!

In other news I have done quite a few drafts today and I feel like if you are going for Flacco/cassell you can wait quite a while. In one draft I waited till the 12th/13th round and got both of them back to back and that was after having a stacked rest of my squad.

I am doing the real draft for my second team now and I will let you know how it turns out, seems good so far :).

P.S.-If a mod could merge this with the thread that is already around about fantsy drafts that would be appreciated(was in a hurry making the thread and didnt even look for one already made :()

no problemo, but yea im really high on rice(not because hes a raven) just cuz hes a monster, addition of leach, yanda back to guard, more expierence, and in contract year. I think he could be top 3 so I would try my best to get him. Hes undervalued to alot of people
