I love this story. I work with an American Samoa gal. We get along very well until she mentions the Steelers and Troy, whose parents happens to be very good friends with her family back in Samoa.

This is when I have to defend my Ravens and voice my hatred against the Steelers. :D

As for samoan players, I bet your friends are also USC fans like my coworker and her family.
Hah. Dont you know it. Right when you say "Whats your favorite college......" 2 things happen here...

1. You either finish your sentence and then they reply

OR

2. You get cut off and then they say USC along with Ray Maualugas name.

I'm probably the newest Raven fan on this board . I'm from Europe so watching NFL here is very bizarre . Though, I first started to relate to the NFL when I bought a football and started to play with my friends . The things became a little more serious when I decided to learn the rules and the positions .
Looking for clips on the Youtube , I found one with Ray Lewis and oh boy , I was really impressed with those highlights , the big hits , the nasty talk , the stadium and the purple uniforms . From that day Baltimore became my team and I learned more about them , about our awesome D (my favourite side of the ball) and then when I saw Ed Reed I've fallen in love with him . He is my favourite player and he will always be ...I play Safety so I try to follow Ed and his game as much as I can .

Now , my dream is to buy a sweet jersey with #20 on its back and hopefully in 2-3 years when I'm older and I have my OWN money , to come and see a LIVE GAME ( Can I at least dream about this ? )

My other favourite players are : Ray(of course) , Heap , Flacco , C-Mac , Rice , Brown and the kids Nakamura and Zbikowski

PS : sorry for my bad english..I try to improve it :)

First off you English and grammer are better than most native Ravens fans on here. That is awesome that our team was able to come out of the blue to be your favorite. Where in Europe do you live?

You can't dismiss the power of Ray Lewis. And I have an authentic #20 Ed Reed Jersey, and I can't live without it. You should stick around our message boards, it is great to see our fans in other countries.

Thanks , I'm from Romania (Hagi , Nadia , Ceausescu , Dracula ) :)) . Here we have a small but very passionate community of football fans and with the help of TYT and a private Romanian channel we can watch the games in a very good quality .
Also , in Romania there are already 3-4 Football teams(we still don't have a championship) but we already started to play some friendly games . In 5 years we hope to have an official championship with Tv broadcast:))

PS: I have 2 friends who are also huge Ravens fans and don't miss a game :)

When I was young my dad got a job in Eastern Europe (Warsaw) and I ended up living there a few years, I went to Bucharest a few times for some basketball tournaments against their American Schools. It's a pretty cool place. I am amazed that there are some Ravens fans there though.

Being a Ravens fan - you are part of one of the best fan bases.

My family's from the Chicago side of Michigan so I was raised a Bear's fan. Every Sunday afternoon I would watch football with my dad. He was Army so we ended up here and from day one, I didn't like the Redskins. Even at the age of five I hated the colors and called them "that ketchup and mustard team". I remember the night the Colts snuck out of town. I was in elementary school and as corny as it sounds, it really damaged my belief that adults did the right thing. It was my earliest memory of realizing some people were jerks. I had no clue who the Colts were, only that they were the Bad Guys.

Fast forward many years, I was really happy for Baltimore when I heard they were getting a team. My father had passed away in November of 2004 and that following fall, I heard the intro for MNF. I don't even remember who played, but it reminded me of afternoons with my dad. I wasn't working retail any longer and with my Sundays free, I started watching regularly. The Ravens won me over with their passion, drive, and superior team colors.

My girls watch with me now, sometimes anyway.

My daughter worked with some students from Romania this summer in Ocean City.
She took them on a tour of Wash. DC a couple weeks ago.
I think she's going to visit them this winter.

Myself,
I was born and raised in Baltimore and grew up with the Colts,Orioles,Bullets,Clippers in the good old '60s 70's.
I'm a homer, always root for Baltimore teams and no one else :D

Your english is good dont worry about it man.... The day I choose my new favorite player is when Ray Lewis retires. Well he probably wont be new but someone whos been with the team and doing good along with consistency. Until Ray Lewis retires hes my favorite hands down.

Another question to throw out to you guys:

How does the outcome of the Ravens game affect your day/week? For me, while I am disappointed in a loss, I won't dwell on it too long because I know we have a chance to make up for it the next week. Now, when we win, well that kind of speaks for itself...

A win does speak for itself. A loss is just horrible. It gives me a bad week. An even worst week if it was from the Steelers. After its from the Steelers I just want to break something then and there.

Oh, I know how that feels, ESPECIALLY if you know Steelers fans at school or work, etc. Last year was just awful, but the year before was VERY nice :D

I've been a big football fan for aslong as I could remember. I had just graduated high school when the Ravens came to be and was going to college in Fullerton, Ca. Being the only person in my family born and raised on the west coast, having family that lived in Laurel, MD and a father who has always hated the Redskins made the Ravens a good choice. Giving that I wasn't currenlty following any one team I just took the signs and said it was time to settle down with my football following and opted to follow the Ravens. Didn't own any NFL jerseys so I went out and bought an Eric Turner jersey to sport the new team colors. Never looked back from there...

Heres a weird little known fact, a football player of Samoan descent are statistically 40 times more likely to make the NFL over a non-Samoan player.

I've followed football since I was a kid, My dad was a Baltimore Colt fan, and then a Redskins fan when The Colts left. I Am a Maryland Fan by heart, Terps, Orioles, and when Heard the Browns was moving there team here I Thought thats going to be my team. But the first thing I thought was if they was going to bring the "Browns" name and colors here there was no way I was going to like them. I was Hyped when I seen our new name and colors. I accually like Black and white , or all white or all black better tho.
