I like Bazooka Joe too, but since the crowd was chanting "Let's Go Flacco!" at the first game, which was a nod to the movie The Replacements ("Let's Go Falco!"), well then... his nickname Fabulous Flacco might be better. ;)

Ok, let's wait to see how "fabulous" he really will be, or how on target his "bazooka" is. The season is new, and while I - like many, many Ravens fans - want a QB (finally), we'll just have to wait and see.

But it would be nice to hear John Madden on a Sunday night game say "the Fabulous Flacco..." :)

Let's Go Flacco!

Go Ravens!
I heard someone on 105.7 today call him "Natty Joe Flacco" by far my favorite
Sadly he would never understand.

It is great though, you are right.
he doesnt have to have 40+ yds for TDs to be called bazooka joe. How about his fast passes that get to the reciever quick? The ball was thrown pretty fast. Faster then some other QBs weve seen.
Word. That pass that he threw from the left side of the field to the right that Mason caught, that was almost picked off in the Cowboys game was like a rocket! Flacco has to have the strongest arm in football. Oh, yeah as far as nicknames goes Bazooka Joe sounds good to me.
I was scouring ESPN reading the game previews and I stumbled upon this little tidbit. I think it's pretty funny and would make an interesting topic.

From Bill Simmons - ESPN
[i]You know, I enjoyed Joe Flacco's work last week -- his teammates responded to him and so did the fans. But he needs a nickname. Joe Flacco makes him sound too much like a chef. Couldn't you see him starring in "Cooking with Joe Flacco" or "Joe Flacco's Barbecue Extravaganza" on the Food Network? So that got me thinking
The best one I heard so far was BIG BIRD!

The guys on the Sirius Afternoon Blitz said he looked like Big Bird when he was running for that touchdown.
Lol... I hearring that on the same show and thought it was pretty funny. Especially with the announcers cracking up and throwing in lines.

(Bad Kermit impression)...."This is the number 5."

LOL.

One announcer referred to him as "Joe The Quaterback" in the midst of the Joe The Plumber nonsense. I always kinda liked that one.

Hello all

I am a first time poster, thought I would chime in on this one. Thinking of something symbolic in nature, how about "The Quill" . Poe more than likely wrote The Raven using a quill pen. A quill by definition is the main root/shaft of a feather that holds the feather on the bird. Joe being the quarterback, he is the main "root" holding the offense together.

Joe "The Quill" Flacco

I don't know whether I read it on this site or scout.com but I like bazoka Joe. Ya know like the gum? That and Flacc Attack but honestly I don't really think he needs a nickname Flacco is cool by itself

Actually, I'm not sure you can "plan" a nickname. The ones that stick are usually something said without planning that just happen to stick.

I like the little accent Rich Eisen puts on "Flacco" when they show the Ravens highlights on NFL Network. It's not a nickname but I like it.

I posted this earlier in the year. When Joe was asked about some proposed nicknames made by the fans, he liked Bazooka Joe. So I think that seals the deal! We should claim the nickname - Bazooka Joe!

End of thread.
Unless that's some as yet unintelligible version of "Bazooka Joe"... no. Thread continues.
