Hard Reset Of A Ps3

Thats probably not even the right verbiage. I'm not a gamer, let me put that out there first.

My buddy moved to Ireland so I bought his PS3 from him to help him out. Im planning on using it as a bluray/netflix player. (FLAME ON!)

My issue is that his and his wifes settings are still on it. Its doing a SLOOOOWWWW system update now.

I figured the younger ones here could help me reset it to factory settings so I can make it my own.

Help me. Im not a total moron but please....laymans terms. Thanks.

I stayed up until 5am wiping the hard drive and setting up my account. Didn't have a chance to really dive into it but I will when I get off of work. It does seem pretty damn slick though.

Anything I should get into first? Game demos, shopping, web browsing, etc?

Go to Gamestop and pick up a bunch of cheap used games. You can grab older ones for $15-20. Even some new copies of recent games have been marked down to $20-30 because they've been out for awhile or had lackluster sales. There's a game for everyone, even if you're not a gamer.

What sort of internet connection are you using? That seems too slow.

Wifi. I have pretty fast Internet actually. Define hardcore, I just browsed around looking for a red dead redemption demo but it's not available. Resistance was right there, sounded cool. What do I know, lol. The demo is 800+ mbs

Fast pace with heavy gun action. I've never played it myself, not my type. I am a casual gamer and will play games like Drake or God of War. Slower pace, puzzles, etc.

What type of game do you envision liking? Here are a few recommendations from somebody who will plays very scarcely (me).

[b]God of War III[/b] was a very fun game for a casual gamer. It wasn't repetitive. You could take your time, not struggle with bosses, etc. It's a dark game.

But you'll like [b]Red Dead Redemption[/b]. You play the game at your pace, you can play the story or do side things like play cards or shoot animals.

[b]Assassins Creed (Brotherhood)[/b]. Much like Red Dead as it is an open world. You play at your own pace. Instead of being chased down by zombies/warlocks/etc your usually the one doing the sneaking and killing, quietly.

[b]Uncharted[/b] is one of the PS3's patented games. Shooting is very frequent. But the story is great with great graphics.

I just got finished playing [b]Heavy Rain[/b]. Its's very story orientated. Not much action from a gamer perspective. But its a one of a type game.

You can probably get all of these games on the cheap since they've been out for a while.

Because your wifi signal is weak. If you can, run a Ethernet cable to the ps3 from your router and your speeds will jump.

Yeah, that did the trick. Now it's only 233 minutes to get the God of War demo instead of 500+. Said the connection was 2.x Mbps.

I use Netflix more than anything else on PS3. But I've found myself exhausting their selection of quality movies. Mostly what I have in my que nowadays is a ton of tv shows.

I am looking forward to the new edition of Madden.
