Has Joe Be Given More Authority?

14 posts in this topic

I know joe has only played about 5 snaps in one game, but i dont really think much has changed since last season in resepct of letting joe take more control.

Im watching nfln and its showing some of the atlanta game, ryan has a wrist band with plays, hes calling audibles and hes been in 9 snaps i think.

I didnt notice much of this last night with flacco.

My question is, has cam gave him more control, input in plays, call audibles etc etc or is it, cam picks a play and we run it no matter what?

Also this is not a flacco ryan debate, i just noticed ryan having authority and cant remember flacco having much last night.

Probably not this preseason. He's only in there one or two drives, and since we have so many young WR/TE, Cam probably draws up plays specifically to them so we get a better idea of our young guys' skill sets.

If he ever goes no-huddle it'll probably be in the third game like it was last year.

Joe actually did audible some last year. Not enough to my liking though. I want some good ol' backyard anarchy this year. Send Flacco out to the huddle with a stick and let him draw some plays in the ground. Cam who?

I think what people fail to realize is that Flacco is self admittedly a guy that doesn't like to call audibles. If you watched the game closely last nigh, Tyrod Taylor was changing in and out of plays alot.

Why would our rookie backup QB have freedom to audible but our 4th year QB doesn't?

Another thing is, the whole Cam has too much control thing is getting old. The guy allow his WR to call plays last year, a freaking WR. That doesn't sound like a guy that has too much control.

Flacco as a QB has to take that next step and be able to run the offense from the LOS if that's what you wanna see.

Also another thing, lets stop looking at other QBs and comparing their completely different situations to what ours is. Why point out Matt Ryan having a wrist band on? That ATL offense is completely different from ours. Guys like Drew Brees and Phillips Rivers don't wear wrist bands, and both of their Head Coaches called 90% of their plays. Those are 2 of the game's best and they don't call their own plays often. Yet fans always want to compare Joe to a QB that audibles a lot more and suggest that is what Flacco needs to do in order to be success.

There is more then one way to be an Elite QB in the NFL. The ability to change the plays is there for Flacco, if he wants to use it he will, if not he won't.

Ummm, I've heard Joe and Cam say he audibles a lot, its just that none of you guys know the signals

And Tyrod was yelling stuff out, that could be like what Manning does, 90% of it is nothing and 10% means something..so what

Its 1 preseason game, no good team is going to show their hand in the preseason, its going to be simple and vanilla

The mean point of the 6 plays Flacco played in was to see how the rookies execute the play that was called. Not to see if he can audible out of a play to see if he can beat the defense. Q wasn't even target last night. That game was about the rookies and seeing how well they execute the plays that was call. Besides its way to early to even be talking about this anyway.

Of course you're not getting smart with me, you basically agreed with everything I said. That was the reason for my reply.

You're reply seemed like you were telling me to relax it's just preseason, and my post was saying how people need to relax with the whole Cam Cameron thing.

in answer to my own question it appears flacco is getting more authority as harbaugh said he is calling half the plays in practice, this can only be goood for joe and this offense, lets hope they take the next step together as a unit and compete with the best offenses in the league

4th year and the training wheels come off. If our tackle situation wasn't so bad right now I would say he has an AMAZING supporting cast with Boldin (NOT BOULDIN) and Evans leading off at WR followed by 3 talented young guys as depth, 2 Pro Bowl Caliber Guards, a Pro Bowl FB , 2 Pro Bowl Running Backs, and 2 Fast TEs with amazing hands.

The Ngata deal needs to get done and we need to get some depth and competition on this OL or signing the other guys was really all for nothing. You need an Offensive Line to run and pass. Let's make the most out of the Evans, Leach and Williams signing and get Joe some help.
