Jah Reid At Lt?

One issue that bother's me is that for some reason our coordinators think Oher is better at LT than RT? He is below average at LT, and maybe the best in the league at RT! Its soooo frustrating :34853_brickwall:

No one's said that. Coaches think oher is our best lineman, which he is,and therefor he plays LT. He's the best player at every position at the line apart from LT.

Are they really serviceable? Oher took alot of penalties last season, Flacco was sacked 40 times, and the Ravens running backs combined for one of the lowest ypr in the league. Then there was Thursday...

The answer is NO... they were out of position and this should've been addressed EARLY in free agency... What LT is projected to be dumped into the free agency market, or who is trade bait??

Ok fair enough, so we can just sit back and hope that the same lineup we had last year (giving up 40 sacks) will do better, or that a serviceable LT or RT becomes available through trade or cuts...

Right tackles can be found, although I still think Jah reid can play. But left tackles are incredibly hard to come by.

Michael Oher needs technique, experience and coaching. Left Tackle is hard to play, and michael needs to work on it. But it's rare to find Left Teckles. And there are definitely lesser LT's in the league.

Thank you! This board is full of new "Chicken Little's", and after a loss in the first preseason game no less. Boy, I just can't wait until our first regular season loss!

No way to jah at RT... Oher is going to get it, and he'll be that franchise tackle we drafted him to be. Give him some time to grow.

Lol, speaking for myself I can honestly say that even though Oher gave up TWO sacks in less than a quarter, this exhibition game is not why I think he is better suited at RT...

Im not saying he cannot improve, im just saying we are a better offensive line with him @ RT... but like I said before, I hope Oher proves everyone wrong and becomes a pro bowl LT like he is a pro bowl caliber RT!

Well, one of those sacks was definitely not his fault. Cousins got beat, and the LE forced Flacco to step up, and get sacked. The other sack, I don't really remember, but I'll assume it's partially due to the inability of the WRs to get open, and due to the OL in general collapsing.

Personally, I can't see how we'd be a "better" OL with him at RT, who would be the LT? All the good ones have teams. Remember, Oher has shut down some of the best pass rushers in the game. Jared Allen, Dwight Freeney, James Harrison, the list goes on. Sure, he needs to be more consistent, but that will come with experience. Mike is the closest thing we have to a Franchise LT, and it's time some of you realized that. The steelers [s]probably[/s] definitely wish they had a LT as good as Oher. I'm not saying he's a pro bowl LT (at least right now) but we're making judgements a little too soon. LT is a hard position to learn, and it doesn't take one season to learn.

Thank you..took the words out of my mouth, oher is going to be fine. People are forgetting he shut down james harrison the first two games last year and was doing fine until he messed up his ankle in the bengals game. I think that injury bothered him more than we thought.

Minus a couple plays on thursday he did fine. He actually has work ethic and he is going to get better and work on his technique. He is our best tackle and he is going to get better as time goes on.

Jah reid needs to man the RT spot and learn how to play that position. Cousins is not the answer at RT.

Thank you! Oher needs some time. Who would be better at LT? Cousins? Anybody else on the roster? The front office knows what is going on and will give us the best chance to win!

Come on guys! Jah Reid hasn't played LT for Central Florida and you want him to replace Michael Oher at LT for the Ravens?

Michael Oher is going to be a great LT in this league. Just have some patience. Last year he wasn't terrible as it is made out to be. Jon Ogden has spoiled us all bad! Oher is going to be just fine and so will Joe's blind side. If there is any worry at all it should be at RT and the Center position since Birk is still recuperating from arthoscopic knee surgery...

I think our line would be best with Jon Ogden playing LT, and I refuse to get over the fact that since he's retired the team cannot possibly find anyone who could play that position as well as he did.

This is what I hear every time I see strong criticism of Michael Oher. He's not one of the league's best LTs, but he is above average at the position. And he would be All-Pro if he were a RT, but he's the best T on the roster. Unless we bring in someone really good, he stays at LT. Moving Jah Reid over is a terrible idea. Anyone who thinks we'd be better off with Joe Flacco's blind side protection even more compromised than it is now clearly hasn't been paying attention.

michael Oher has longer arms than Joe Thomas and Jake Long. Long arms aren't as important as long legs. You want quick feet and long movement, long arms are a complete myth.
[/quote]

Long arms aren't a myth, Bo Jackson running a 4.1 second 40 is a myth.
