Predict The Score - Ravens @ Texans

22 posts in this topic

I guess we need an official thread to predict the score since we all love being psychics.

I am going with:

Ravens 13
Texans 6

With a little more challenging defense we will score less than we did against the bengals. But still get a TD, Flacco's first passing TD (I hope). Houston will move the ball, but Schaub will make some errors, and settle for a couple of field goals. They will also face a few third and longs.

Let's see who can get it right!

A little to a little.

Not going to predict the score but I will wager that it will be a very low scoring game on both sides.

ill disagree with you their , our offence can acually do somthing now. Cam is doing an exelent job with the play calling, flacco is doing great! he lit the stage on fire with his first start of the NFL!, and now we have mcgahee starting i dont think it gets anybetter than that.

and on the defensive side...well...its simple we have ALL of our DEFENSIVE WEAPONS!= TURN OVER's

i wouldnt be surprised if this game would be a blow out. :)

ravens - 21

texans - 10 (im being nice :P )

(GL to the O-line keep up the good work)

Defense
I think our DL will harass the Texans OL. We will probably get to the QBs head within the 2nd quarter. Then Schaub will probably throw atleast 2 INTs with 2 being the least amount thrown. This is also depending on how good our teams stops the run. If they keep stopping it for negative yards then this will probably be a stat game for INTs for our D.

Offense
Our interior 3 are beasts. They will man handle whatever comes their way. As for our tackles Im gonna wait till game day to see what they do. If they keep Super Mario in check and give Flacco time to pass itll open up the running game. Not that the running game needs to be open but if Flacco gets passes off here and there the Texans might back off whichll give way to our backs gettin more yards. We could see a 15+ yrd run on a carry here or there.

Ravens - 24

Texans - 7

hopefully McGahee is at full strength. If he is he will have a field day against the texans run d. If he does that will open up the passing game. Im looking forward to cam's dynamic play calling... its so much better than the vanilla stuff we saw with Billick

24-10, Ravens victory... Flacco gets his first TD pass, McClain or Rice gets one and Willis gets one. Our D shuts them down again, as is usually the case ;) .

McGahee wants to come back so bad for this game. After watching Willie Parker run all over the Texans. He wants to come back and have a huge game so that he can claim his stakes, and negate any doubts about his knee.

All I know is:

The Texans delenda est!

That's Latin for: The Texans must be destroyed!

McGahee was good enough to go in the last game but the Ravens wanted to be cautious. We have a long season ahead of us. From what I heard, Willis was very "antsy" to get into the game against Cincy. Almost begging coaches for some playing time. He saw what McClain and Rice were doing and wanted to be part of that.

It should be fun to see what he will do in this game.

There seems to be an "energy" right now that wasn't there at all last season.

Oddssmakers have Houston taking this one by 4 1/2 points. My money says Houston will not be focused on this game ( hurricane Ike ) and homefield advantage will be nullified by low attendance. This will be a sloppy low scoring game of field position and field goals. Houston will not break the Ravens' D and Flacco will make rookie mistakes:

Ravens: 12

Houston: 9

Im going to have to take a gander at this, i feel the Ravens will continue to get better, taking last week in stride and at full strength, building off the momentum that was gained in the week prior. I feel content in saying that the Offensive Line will continue its dominance with the way they've played last week, i feel as though our front men will continue to get better, and continue to display a stellar contest of pure strength and a high degree of physicality, in which i can only see us continuing to get better and better as the game wears on. You look at the way the front men up front just were able to contain the defensive players last week and you just saw a degree of phyiscal football displayed that is usually only seen in/around a veteran group of players. To have a Young group of guys in the trenches protecting you and preventing any further advancement of the football, and do it in such a dominant fashion, thats something that you dont usually see unless its from the older, veterans or unless its a group of young guys whom truly understand whats going on around them, truly understand where everyone is and then understand their job and prevent the defensive players from entering the back field as well as Opening holes for the running game.

The silent display of poise and leadership, displayed by the young Rookie in Joe Flacco has alot of people ranting on and on about this kids possibilities and for good reason, the way he was able to be a Silent commander of that offense when Leadership was needed, the way he was able to calmly step up and embrace this role and lead this offense down the field, i think, has alot of people in Baltimore... hopeful with the fact that he might be our guy under center that we've been searching for since this franchise came to be. The calm composure that we saw from the entire offense, really has to speak for itself in terms of this teams overall growth as compared from last season to this year, you can just see the progression this team has made.
I also think that, if our recieving core can stay healthy throughout the course of the season, then i would only expect this passing attack, installed by offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, to really have a good or even great year this season. Flacco is seemingly very comfortable with the way Mason runs his routes and catches the football, you just saw the chemistry and dedication those two have been putting in, to try to better this offense from last season. If Flacco can develop as good of a relationship with our other recievers out there on the football field, then you can surely bet that This passing attack will be effective....it might not be this high explosive tandem, breaking those big gains and whatever, but for starters to have a good base structuring of the recieving core and their quarterback to build and work off of later ondown the road, that type of chemistry is something that will not go un-noticed.

Now to the Defense, to the Defensive front men, pressure is key to disrupt ant type of offensive chemistry and so our big men up front have to maintain a steady flow of constant pressure on whomever is the ball carrier. Our Front men efforts in last weeks game really is what spelled out the Bengals fate in that game last week, and so fast forward to this week if our front men can apply that same constant pressure this week as we had last week, then i feel a high comfort zone developing between the big men upfront on the defensive side of the football, Our big guys were able to break through the bengals front 7 and break into the back field numerous times throughout the course of that game...so naturally coming into this week...the opponent is different but the expectations and defensive schemes still remain the same. The job for our defensive front men isnt necessarily to get those sacks and those big big numbers as fans all hope to see every game, every week, every year, but to get/apply just enough pressure onto the opposition in order to force them into the quick decision making mode, forcin them to get un-comfortable, and force them into trying to force plays when there really is nothing there to begin with in the first place. So if you really think about it, the defensive line might have all of those fancy sacks and fumlbes and whatever BUT i think alot of teams would love for their team to be as pressureative on the oppositon, and just foce him into those situations in which they arent comfortable with doing. History has shown time and time again that an effective defensive effort just needs to fore those unwanted situations for the offense to get into and then let things play themselves out. thats all they really need to do.

Lastly, the Texans really only have but one offensive playmaker as of right now in Andre Johnson, so our secondary will be looking to shut-down johnson and force the opposition into trying to look elsewhere for offensive production. That's not taking anything away from the other recievers have out there on the football field, Our secondary still needs to have a game-plan in shutting them down as well, but the main job for our guys in this situation is making sure that their playmakers are in fact....shut down, that means a steady flow of double coveraging on johnson at times more so than others, meanwhile having a combination effect of our Linebackers dropping back into coverage in order to help out in covering the other potential play makers for the Texans, IF NEED Be and it come to that point. Buti also feel as though Our Corners (Rolle or whomever is not on Andre Johnson's side) really have the upper hand in this sitaution and they certainly have the experience to know exactly what to do and at what time to do it, Breaking up passes, not allowing the recivers to get open, and (hopefully and eventually) those vital and ever Crucial..... turnover opportunities.

All of this and then some, that IF everything comes together right and everone does their job correctly, then you could be looking at as dominant of an effort, if not better than...the week before.

none the less... Ravens win 24-7

why does everyone think rice did so good...he had a sub 3 yards per carry average
mcclain did good but clayton and flaccos runs were a big reason for our 229 yards rushing

TBH I was much more disappointed in his fumble than his YPC. That TD killed a good drive that would've put the game out of reach, and instead it opened the door for the Bungles to make it a game. They didn't, obviously, but credit our D for that.

Plus, that FR TD goes against our D, and cost me 4 points in my FF

Hold onto the ball, rookie.

Why do you think McLain closed out the game?
