[Blogs] Ravens Trade For WR Evans

539 posts in this topic

The Ravens have traded a 2012 draft pick for wide receiver Lee Evans, the Ravens confirm.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Baltimore gave up a fourth-round pick to the Buffalo Bills.

Evans is regarded as a major vertical veteran presence who will immediately boost the Ravens’ young wide receiver corps. The Ravens were leaning on rookies Torrey Smith and Tandon Doss to fill that role.

While the former 2004 first-round pick recorded a career-low 37 receptions and 578 yards last season, he still averaged 15.6 yards per catch.

His best game last season came at M&T Bank Stadium, when he caught six passes for 105 yards and three touchdowns.

Evans has surpassed 1,000 yards receiving twice in his career, with his best season coming in 2006 when he logged 82 receptions for 1,292 yards and eight touchdowns.

The Ravens will likely get extra compensatory draft picks next year, due to the free agent losses from the team. Thus, a fourth-round pick could be returned.

I really think his drop in receptions has to do with the Bills adding more receivers to the rotation than it does to a drop in skill. Also, Flacco is a much better QB than Trent Edwards or Ryan Fitzpatrick.

YES! This is what I've been waiting for - a deep threat! Its like Christmas morning! Now, lets hope Flacco can familiarize himself with Lee real soon!

WR problem is now hopefully solved. CB hopefully will improve now that J. Smith will play more next week and Fox will be back. Back-up QB I want to wait on because it was Tyrod's 1st ever NFL game so I wanna see what he learned. Sign some OL and we are set!

Not bad. Would rather have our O-line shored up. I think Doss and Pitta were amazing last night. Woulda been even more amazing if our QB's had time to throw the ball. Cousins was a mess. Would rather have traded for a starting LT or starting RT. (Though this isn't a bad trade for us at all.)

I want to find each and every "So-Called" Ravens Fan that had everything negative to say about our team after last nights game and look them straight in the eye and say, "Patience is a vertue." No step aside an let the real RavensNation cheer and root for our team. People, the game was more of an evaluation than anything else. They saw after one game where we were and the changes that needed to be made. Ozzie heard the need and handled it. Great job by the wizard. Keep making moves because I know he's not done yet.

best move we could have made at wr. fast vertical threat, more proven than floyd, much faster than mason, and without the attitude like TJ, TO, and moss

He averaged less than 15 yards per reception only once in seven seasons. If JP Losman could connect on all those deep scores, I have no doubt Joe Cool can do it.

Damn, I did not know he's 210lbs! And we all know Evans has great hands and a major threat for YAC. Only if we had a solid LT......

It's a solid pick, however this isn't Madden, we will need an offensive line with the capability to hold up in pass protection. He will also need to be used wisely or it will be like having Dante Stallworth so get with it Cam. Again, Oher should be moved to RT, sign Ohara for center and get Mckinney in shape to play LT. Im sorry fans but last night only exposed to the whole league were are weakness still remains from last year...THE D#%! OFFENSIVE LINE! BESIDES GRUBBS AND YANDA WE ARE SUSPECT! SO NO, I WILL NOT STOP THE CRITICAL COMMENTS UNTIL REALITY IS RESPECTED.

exactly I've been saying the same...they not going to make major moves like this until seeing what the players we have can do. if torrey had tore up the eagles, we may not have made this trade, but he had zero catches so the deal was struck... same with pass rusher. we wanted to see how our guys would do (and they excelled) mcphee, kindle, and kruger, so now we prolly wont sign a rusher. oline however is different, tackles were horrible so i think that will be our next move
