Birk is in uniform today, doing some light work at practice

Very good sign for our OL

Reported on twitter

It's amazing how we are going from the "uh-oh" line to, "Hey this line isn't THAT bad". They are really starting to come along and we can't forget that Birk hasn't even been out there yet.

Birk will help the young guys with their assignments pre snap.

yeah, I think our OL will be good, I think they will come together, our offense has more speed this year so Flacco will be able to get the ball out sooner potentially, the run game should be improved, our defense is going to be better...our schedule is supposedly softer but you never know year to year, we have a good team

Good to hear Birk is back, but I have been impressed with Mattison's preseason. Barnes isn't doin that bad either, but he is against the scrubs after all.

I have been too, for him to go from defense to OL is amazing, Bryan has been impressive, I think the coaches like him too

I would like to try moving Yanda over to RT and give Justin Boren a try against better compitition. That's maybe more of a last resort if we don't sign anyone and LeVoir doesn't get the job done.

Mattison can really thank Birk for his absence this off season. Mattison was a bubble player and the fact that he came in and played serviceable at C cements his place on this team.

I'll be very interested to see LeVoir on Thursday night because if he can provide a solid veteran presence, his size and mean streak should really help out. Also, it will allow Yanda to move back inside. I haven't seen or heard how LeVoir handles pass protection but thats what we need the most, time for Joe. He has shown an improved ability to move in the pocket and step up.

Oher, Grubbs, Birk, Yanda, LeVoir

We shall see...

I heard he was doing well in pass protection, knows NFL defenses..so that might be his strong suite

I've heard his pass protection is solid, but I suppose his run blocking is less than satisfactory. Just based on the fact that the patriots didn't think he was worth his $600,000 salary this year and the fact that they reached to draft Nate Solder in the first round instead of addressing their horrendous pass rush makes me wonder if he's able to to even be a solid starting Tackle.

I will not form an oppinion until at least seeing him play on thursday, so I am very excited and confident that he will prove me and the NE staff wrong.

I think drafting Nate pretty much determined his fate, there was no way the Patriots knew who would be on the board, they obviously will take the best player available approach, so its not really an indication of LaVoir's play, I think its more of who was left on the board..and because they got Nate, they no longer needed to sign Mark

BREAKING: Hearing Baltimore Ravens very interested in LT Bryant McKinnie. We'll see if a deal comes to fruition.

Not sure how serious they are but I thought he was extremely out of shape?
