MERGED: Lee Evans Traded to the Ravens

i opened this and was waiting for th OP to say only messing after a few replies.

I think this is a great move. it takes the pressure of our rookies, gives them more time to learn and grow as nfl recievers. torrey has a legite speedster to learn from, doss has an almost idenctical player to learn from in boldin. We dont need them to be great immediatly now, just for the next 6 7 8 years... They can come in and play in situations that suit them now, rather than every play, eg weve ran all over a team and they re stacking the box, so we bring them in one on one coverage, get a few grabs and build up there confidence, which will help them in times we need them to preform to win us a game. it just makes life so much easier on our rookies to learn, to settle in and grow as recievers without being completely thrown in the deep end.. they will do there share, 30 40 grabs top, but now they dont need to come in and light it up as much.

But more importantly, this is a great move for joe. we saw atlanta go out and get there man to help ryan grow and try and take that next step to be elite. I think this could be the move that tips flacco over the top. Defenses can no longer just blanket boldin and say to a rookie show us what you got, and stuff the box with only one established threat. We now have two players on the outside that have to be greatly respected be defenses. two different players that offer a different threat and different weapon for flacco. it will also mean we could get great mis macthes with doss and smith in the 3/4 reciever set, there isnt that many good nickle backs that could keep up with smith or match doss' toughness and great hands. They could blossom as a 3/4 rather than a 2/3 receiver.

It means flacco has legit threats and weapons to go out and take a game and make it his own, you Flacco can now go out and be that very very good player you said you are and all us baltimore fans know you are., You may not put up brady numbers, but this move will give you a CHANCE to do that kind of damage. Show the world what you made off..

Great move, just a little disspointted he wasnt cut, just means we lose some trade bait in the draft which i was hoping we could use to move up and grab manti Teo or that other animal of a mlb.. (forget his name)

But great move for us to make, even better value, strengthen the depth at o line, a tackle than can play left or right incase of injuries and were set to make a good run this season..

what number ya'll think he'll be rocking since Dickson has 83
I think he'll get #84 or #85.

I'm all for this trade, and I'm glad we did it.

But per ESPN's fantasy department:

"It's tempting to blame the Bills' quarterback situation for Evans' finishing 55th in fantasy points among wideouts last year. Then you remember Steve Johnson didn't have much of a problem. Evans is uncomfortable with the underneath stuff, so while he'll beat you deep every so often, he's one-dimensional. In '10, he caught only 45 percent of the passes thrown his way, which is unacceptable. We know there's talent here, but it's been far too long since drafting him has paid off."

45%? Yuck. Still, I think he'll do much better once he's here.
That's okay. The team already has underneath weapons in Q, Rice, and to a lesser extent, Pitta and Doss.

Evans is in his prime also..isnt he younger than Boldin?? they might be the same age if im not mistaken...i watched the NFL network replay and that Laquan Williams kid is pretty talented
Evans is not in his prime. He is rather quickly declining, his speed included.

This is just a stopgap move, and he gives us our first legitimate and established deep threat since.....I don't even know

Just don't expect him to be the savior of this offense.

He got separation even on the one that Tyrod overthrew...
Agreed.

i cant wait to play with this team on madden this year :D we have a solid defense again this year, and it looks like the offense is finally starting to come together, we just need to fix some holes in the o-line *cough* cousins *cough*

I was more worried about him catching less than half of the passes thrown his way. I don't know if that means drops or what, but it's not a good stat.

hes not declining what makes you think that?...he just played for a bad team with a average QB and no running game last year...he obviously didnt want to be in Buffalo this year

I think he put up some good numbers when you think of the QBs he has played with, now with Joe Flacco throwing to him I'm sure he'll have a breakout year.

I was sure the Ravens would acquire a WR through trade because the free agent market was weak.

Now if we only had a decent OL

More like all his career.

And please, even delusional Bills fans say that he's lost a step, and they are blindly homerific.

He's a one dimensional deep threat that has declining speed. He can still contribute, but I don't think he'll be a terror to opposing defenses

His catch ratio was so low because of his role. He was a deep threat, and bombs simply aren't high-percentage plays. His QB not having a rifle arm didn't help either.

Drops weren't an issue.

Its not Lee Evans who declined...the QBs in Buffalo were horrible...Lee Evans will prove all doubters wrong, so glad to see this move

He gives us that proven, established player that we needed opposite Boldin, and he has more speed than we did last year. Good pickup. Let's get Ngata signed now and sort the O-line.

Now Ozzie needs to get the OL some help, the OL is in trouble with Oher at LT and whoever at RT and depth is a concern.

Not worried about the defense, the secondary will get better and the pass rush is back.

If our OL can stay healthy, and Cousins doesnt play,Our offense can be dangerous. Leach>McClain. Evans>Mason. I think we improved all around from last year. Excited.

Fitzpatrick was the best QB he's had in his career (Losman and Edwards are both terribad), and he didn't put up that good of numbers this year

thats because Fitzpatrick and Stevie Johnson had chemistry together...idk why Evans wasnt used as much last year I dont follow Buffalo unless we play them.

This is a good move and out offense just got better, not we need to fix the OL

How about you let him suit up with us before dismissing the guy. Good idea, no?

We definitely do. I'd say we're a better team on the surface than last year, but maybe not as deep as we'd like in one or two positions.

People saying his QB was terrible last year: that's not really true. Steve Johnson did well with Fitzpatrick, who actually had pretty good numbers. He wasn't afraid to sling it, either. Granted, the team stunk and it was not a winning atmosphere, but it wasn't all the QB play at fault.

I think Evans will have a great year, actually I think he may have numbers better than Boldin!
Evans has been putting up solid numbers throughout his career on a terrible team with terrible QBs, Floyd has put up decent numbers with one amazing QB in Rivers, I'll take Evans!

Bills fans were pretty mad about the whole thing, They were waiting for information to see what they got in return.

Schefter reported 4th, and the forum exploded.

I hope that doesn't happen. I love the trade, but Q should still be the primary receiving target.
