Yeah, he ran a 4.39 at the combine in 2004. More important, though, is that he plays extremely fast. His speed actually converts into plays. Great pick-up.

Edit: someone else said 4.33. I was going by wikipedia; not sure which number is correct, but both are still sub-4.4.

Could we send them Oniel Cousins too? Just take him for nothing, as a show of appreciation for this great trade.

My phone was dead when I woke up... I plugged it in hoping I had a WNST text saying we traded for him. Sure enough it was the First one that Popped up!

Love the move. Now Analysts can stop saying we are going to miss the playoffs. Time to add some O Line depth and we will be even better off than we were last year!

You also have to factor in that Lee Evans is coming from a constant loser in the Bills to a perennial contender with the Ravens. I'm sure getting a chance to actually win and play in meaningful games and make it into the post season will really be extra motivation to really contribute. Having someone like that as your #2 will really boost the receiving corps and make Evans and Boldin a good compliment at starting WR.

You can't play them the same way like last year with Derrick Mason on the other side because he has a same skillset to Anquan Boldin. But with Evans on the other side his versatility will really open up the passing game and draw that safety to his side opening up stuff for Anquan Boldin and the run game. He adds a good and much need new dimension to the offense.

It probably won't happen by Lee Evans and Johnny Knox would be epic. I think we are done with receivers barring catastrophic injury. Now with Evans speed and route running it opens up the WR3 competiton and I think Doss and Smith both have an equal chance now - leaning towards Doss (faster than Boldin, better routes and hands than Smith)

are the Bears trading Knox? that would be a nice piece

Great post Token; great news!
Here is our WR corps: Boldin, Evans, T. Smith, Doss, D. Reed, and M. Smith.

All those watching while Ozzie slid over onto the hot seat were pleasantly surprised when he pulled off this gem for a 4th round draft choice. We picked up Mason a while back, and now that he is gone we got Evans.

That would be overkill at this point. The young WRs still need to develop. With Evans, the team won't have to rely on them to make plays, but there will be opportunities for both of them.

Lee Evans 40 YARD DASH TIME 4.33 (NFL Combine)

Birth Date March 11, 1981
Birth Place Warrensville Heights, OH
Height 5-10
Weight 197 lbs.

Now, of course, 40 yard time generally means little on the field, but still good to see!
thats awesome but the thing i like about Evans is he has football speed...most WRs can run a 4.3 or 4.4 running a straight line but he can leave corners with his route running...Tory Smith is fast but he looked slow out of his cuts last night...i think the Laquan kid looked more natural than Smith

Based on last night, I'd put LaQuan ahead of him.

This is a very good move for you guys... He brings the speed you guys need and this will allow torrey smith to work in the slot...But here is the thing... Now.... No one can say Flacco doesnt have weapons... You guys are loaded...

Lee Evens is one of the most dynamic WR's when he has a QB

Depending on the formation I really think Smith and Doss are interchangeable and something tells me Doss might emerge from this as the clear front runner by the end of preseason.

Remember, Doss isn't a speed demon but he isn't slow. He is returning punts for god's sakes lol but he is faster than Boldin and has better hands and runs better routes than Smith. He is a 6'3 hybrid of Lee Evans and Boldin when you think about it.

That was due to uncertainty. I saw him get separation on Asomugha on the play Rice caught a swing pass. One he gains confidence, he'll separate from CBs even more.

I agree (hence this - "Now, of course, 40 yard time generally means little on the field, but still good to see!" - in my original post).

I also agree that Williams looked great last night! Wish he had grabbed the one in the EZ that went thru his hands.

Knox said this yesterday

"I'm a Bear, and I want to stay a Bear for life," Knox said. Asked about a Chicago Tribune report that he could push for a trade, Knox responded, "I could see where people were coming from, but it was basically people trying to stir something up."
I am so glad they traded for Evans. I still think we have an incredible youth movement in Torrey and Doss, but hey Evans to start games alongside Boldin, Joe Flacco should be set as should the Ravens!

A deep threat that can go up and get the ball, and more than anything else he comes here with a huge chip on his shoulder! Go Ravens!

I'm all for this trade, and I'm glad we did it.

But per ESPN's fantasy department:

"It's tempting to blame the Bills' quarterback situation for Evans' finishing 55th in fantasy points among wideouts last year. Then you remember Steve Johnson didn't have much of a problem. Evans is uncomfortable with the underneath stuff, so while he'll beat you deep every so often, he's one-dimensional. In '10, he caught only 45 percent of the passes thrown his way, which is unacceptable. We know there's talent here, but it's been far too long since drafting him has paid off."

45%? Yuck. Still, I think he'll do much better once he's here.

what number ya'll think he'll be rocking since Dickson has 83
Looks like the only receiver number left is 85.....

19 is a no-no, and a veteran can't wear a single digit jersey... well, he shouldn't!

I'm pretty sure you put up any rookie against Nnamdi Asumugha and Asante Samuel for a quarter and then a rookie CB, they'd all look terrible.

Perfect compliment to Boldin. He's a stud and hasn't been underwhelming in his career unlike Floyd. I wanted the rookies to get a lot of snaps, but this is to good to be true. Welcome to your new home, Lee Evans!

He was #3 in college. So he likes the number 3. Dickson has 83 and his former teammate Hardy has 13.

So we'll see if he'll go after one of those numbers. Lee doesn't strike me as a guy who's addicted to his number.

He got separation even on the one that Tyrod overthrew...
