I might be more excited by this trade if Flacco looked to throw to the receivers more. From what I saw against the Eagles it looks like we can expect more of the same. Flacco falling in love throwing to his tight end and hitting Rice out of the back field. What's the purpose of getting Boldin, Evans or anyone else if Flacco is hardly going to use them?

I don't think you can make any pre-judgements based on the limited time (was it 4 plays?) that Flacco was actually on the field.

Dude, they hardly played any snaps, The OL played horribly bad so Joe was under pressure, he had Boldin and Pitta and rookies to throw to..and in case you didnt hear the Eagles have 3 Pro Bowl shutdown corners

So yeah he threw a nice pass to Pitta and I think 1 check down to Rice which turned into a 21 yard gain.

Its the preseason..and you saw a limited amount of plays, the team isnt going to show their hand in the preseason anyway

Picking up Evans might have a greater significance if Flacco actually used his receivers more. From what I see, we can expect more of the same. Flacco throwing a ton to his tight end and Rice out of the back field or as a slot receiver. What is the purpose of having Boldin, Evans or whoever if he is going to hardly use them?

You don't know what the offense will look like, it depends on how the OL plays, you dont draft guys like Torrey Smith and bring in Lee Evans and not use them. Joe usually makes the smart play, last year our WRs couldnt get separation and the only options were Heap because he usually had a mismatch or the dump off to Ray Rice.

Your judging how we are going to use Evans, and Torrey by 1 drive in the first preseason game? ....okay

You have a good point. It was preseason and the regular starters were not out there very long. I am just hoping they use the receivers more as the season moves along. It looked like Bolding was getting a little irritated last season when he was not getting the ball very much.

considering the pressure the eagles were getting, and the fact Cousins started at RT, there was no time for Joe to wait for routes to develop from his outside recievers, plus you could tell cam was trying to get a deep ball in on that first series.

We are gonna have a damn good team this year, I say we move cousins into RG, and yanda at RT until Reid can step in at RT.

got Leach to pave the way for Rice, Ricky backing up Rice... Evans stretching the field, and still have smith, doss, Reed who could contribute in teh passing game. Pitta looked good the other night, and Dickson will bring even more to the passing game than pitta, then we got kruger picking up the pace, kindle looks beastly, pollard is gonna be a stud in our Defense, and have jimmy smith in the back end, along with Cary Williams who could see more playing time this year (hes got some skills.... constitantly).

Look at it this way

Leach= upgrade over mcclain
Evans=upgrade over mason considering what he can bring to us and what he can do for Q
Ricky=Willis
Pollard=upgrade over landry

This is not entirely Flacco's fault. The checkdowns and TE mismatch targets were often the correct play. Our WR corps had a lot of trouble getting separation and our Oline was bad, Flacco has to throw it somewhere, better to them then try to force it to someone whose being covered.

And a new OC
Yeah, give us McDaniels and we'd be a top 5 offense in the league IMO, heck we'd be top 7 if we got rid of Cam and got just about anyone else out there lol. Its that bad. Of course, we do need a solid LT/RT, but no offense is perfect.

Yea not to mention that both Art Jones and McPhee looked really quick from the DE position and got some good pressure on the QB. Everybody isn't Vick and Young so some of those will be sacks.

I think those two guys paired together is an upgrade over Pryce and Reeding. But they'll have to continue to play well. I wouldn't be surprised to see Redding suffer the same fate as Pryce did last year.

Ellerbe looked like his demotion last year really sparked something inside of him, because he looked very explosive the other night. Missed a few tackles but that's not a major concern imo.

I really think this team is improved this year and Evans only help cement that.

It makes sense, but I didn't know this. Lee Evans has never played a playoff game in his career. I think this factoid will be additional motivation to have him help us get there again. I just hope we can give him a good taste of the playoffs and more.

Yeah, when I heard that I was kinda stunned. Felt bad for him. I wanted to give him a bro-hug.

now there is no excuse not to use them and if the passing game doesn't improve with this trade, then cam needs to go!

The Eagles have 1 shutdown corner.

Asante isn't elite in coverage. He plays off and is a ball hawk. DRC also gets burned once in a while. Gave up most passying yards in the league in his rookie year, I think.

Philly may have a bigger problem on it's hands, chemistry. Everybody's playing nice now but if they don't bust out fast, those fan's will be out for blood. Then the finger pointing starts, on Twitter, as that seems to be the method of choice now. Then the that's not what I meant post conference and so on, and so on. Seen it before, might just see it again.

He took #85? Really?

That hurts.
He said thats all they had available so he took it but he probably will change it, thats what he said, he used to be 83 so maybe he tries to get it from ed dickson...or he just keeps 85...which I dont really mind, I mean I respect what Mason did for us and helped Joe become a better QB but he's no Ray Lewis or Ed Reed...there will never be another player wearing 52 in baltimore

I'm terminally ecstatic about Lee Evans signing; just what the doctor ordered, I think. He's a valid deep threat and
you can't double team Evans and Boldin.

Foolishly optimistic perhaps, but I think this is gonna work out quite well for the Ravens.
