Lee Evans flew under the Radar because not much is talked about in Buffalo...
I believe he is good replacement for Derrick Mason..
yeah he never had a good QB to throw to him, so him putting up the numbers he did is quite an accomplishment, I expect him to have a career year with Joe throwing to him

....as long as our OL can pass protect

I'd go as far to say he's a major upgrade over Derrick Mason. I know stats don't suggest that. However Evans can bring something to this offense that Mason would not have and that's explosive plays.

Mason would have needed other guys to create space for him. Evans will allow other to benefit from what he does.

By my count I've said this at least 3 times tonight, but I don't wanna put to much into the Evans signing, however, he has the potential to improve this entire offense, Oline included. It won't just be Flacco who benefits from Lee Evans and Boldin.

I was thinking the same thing, but a career year for Evans would mean at least 83 catches, 1,293 yards, 9TDs and 15.9.

If we get that type of production from out #2 WR, we will definitely be top 5 in the NFL in offense.

Man I wish this trade would have happened a week ago. It's gonna be a long week for me in anticipation for our next game.

I don't even care if he catches a pass or not, I just want to see Evans, Boldin, Dikson, Pitta, and Rice on the field at the same time at least once.

The minute I heard we got Evans, I got excited for the next PS game too. In a blink of an eye, it'll be Ravens-Steelers.

Yea, and that secondary will be in for a long long day.

Even though I said I wish we would've gotten him earlier. I still like the timing of the trade.

Evans has 4 weeks to work himself into this offense.

Ed Dickson didn't play last night. So are you saying Pitta's preseason performance was more impressive then anything Dickson did in the regular season last year?
Not at all, what im saying is im a fan of Pitta now. I really didnt get to see him play before. And yes i know Dickerson wasn't playing last night, i did watch it.

I've always been a bigger Pitta fan. Don't get me wrong, I like Dickson too, but I see something special in Pitta.

Oh ok. I'm a fan of Pitta as well as Dickson. What seems like commonplace on this board is to like one or the other, or to think one will be better then the other.

I think both of those young TEs will be huge this year and for years to come.

I think they will work so well together.

Most teams don't use a lot of 2TE sets, I think the Ravens will. I expect them to be used much like the Pats 2 TEs last year.

This offense is gonna be so dymanic, especially with 2 proven guys on the outside, who can attack the entire field. We'll be able to attack defenses in many different ways.

Its entirely possible that Evans puts up those kinds of numbers, he may turn out to be a true #1 and Boldin fits in better as a #2 guy. Dont get me wrong that no disrespect to Boldin he'll still get his too but Evans is a deep threat where Boldin does better work across the middle

Now with the pressure off torrey, he can relax and just play ball. Boldin and Evans are going to be a great tandem.

I think we need to lower the expectations a bit. I love the trade and am so excited for Lee Evans but I think around 60 catches for around 800 or so yards is most reasonable.

I can see it now! Week 1 first drive goes like this...
Ravens start off at the 20 yard line. 1st down and Flacco in shotgun. Drops back...throws a 7 yard pass to Boldin. 2nd and 3. Flacco under center hands it off to Rice who follow Leach through a hole created by Yanda and Reid. 10 yard run for a RAVENS first down! Ravens at the 37. Flacco drops back, he looks across the middle but Dickson is covered. Meanwhile Evans does a double move on bryant mcfadden. Flacco looks deep and sees Evans running down field! Flacco bombs it down the field and gets hit by Harrison right afterwards. The ball soars through the air right over Ryan Clark and lands in Evans hands! He catches it at the 20 and scampers into the endzone for a RAVENS 63 YARD TOUCHDOWN! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!? Flacco gets off the ground and does a tiger woods fist pump! I just fired myself up typing this. I hope you fellow Ravens fans like it!

Hes a good player and he should be happy too since I dont think hes ever been to the playoffs since joining the league. I live in Rochester NY and they air all the Bills games, Evans has speed, great hands and is a great locker room guy. I really like this pickup, he can really help us.

I love this move. It may get teams to finally stop cover 2-ing us to death. With Evans on one side, you're gonna need help over the top, and without help on the other side, Boldin can have a field day with most CBs. I don't know that Evans numbers are going to be anything super, they may, but I think that more importantly, he will open up defenses and make it easier for guys like Pitta, Dickson, or whoever our slot receiver ends up being.

BUT, for all this to work, as has been said, out O-line is certainly going to need help. And yeah, we're looking lost at RT atm. At the right price, I wouldn't mind Flozell Adams i guess. I've never been a fan of his, but he might fit if he brings his price down. I know he's the false start/tripping king, but most of that came from his days in Dallas when he was playing in left tackle. And I don't know how many of you know this, but he is deaf in his right ear, so has trouble with snap counts at left tackle, particularly on the road in a load venue. If he were willing to play RT, at typical so-so RT money, that could work.

I think the Ravens want to keep Yanda at guard because they want to get back to power football with the run game. And for that you need some good road blocking guards. Having another Chris Chester speed/finesse type guard wont help us pound the rock. So my guess on that is that they want to stay strong between the tackles.

I know this sentiment has been expressed before, but it's important to note that this trade probably won't result in an earth-shattering season from Lee Evans.

That said, this is a low-risk, moderate-reward move. The worst that can happen is Lee Evans has an average season and a rookie has to step up. Otherwise, this provides a buffer for the rookies, as Evans will presumably assume the #2 slot behind Boldin and allow for the rookies and younger players to continue their development without the pressure of being an immediate starter.

For only a 4th-round pick, that piece of mind is immensely helpful and a great value beyond what most GMs would be able to negotiate.

Great observation! Even if Evans posts mediocre numbers, he is the legitimate downfield threat that will give others room underneath. Some have mentioned "a great replacement for Mason"; Evans does not replace Mason. Boldin will be getting the passes that came Mason's way. Evans gives us what we have not had since Clayton. And I have to say, he is a huge upgrade over Mark Clayton!

Of course it is, Evans could put up those numbers, and Dickson could follow the foot steps of Heap and lead the team in receiving in his first year as starter.

At this point anything is possible. I actually hope that Evans put up those numbers, because if he does, there is no way Boldin doesn't put up similar numbers.

All offseason people have been saying, Cam needs to use Boldin like he was used in ARI. My response has been, give us a WR like Fitz and Boldin will be able to be used that way much more often.

While Evans isn't a Fitz, he makes the defense respect him deep, and that'll open things up for Boldin.

Now as a result, with people watching Boldin and Evans so much. Doss and Reed will be allowed to catch and run. Torrey will be able to run and hopefully take advantage of a 3rd 4th or 5th DB and get behind the defense.

Dickson and Pitta will have much more space to work.

Rice will have way more space, because the defense won't be able to just sit down in that 10-15 yard range.

Everyone loved to pile on Cam last year and during the offense. With the offensive potential we have now, my prediction is that by the end of the season, bashing Cam will be viewed as being just as foolish as bashing Ozzie for "Sitting on his hands" during the offseason.

Remember Cam was viewed as one of the best OCs in the NFL just a few short years ago. Fans in Baltimore think it was a result of the talent he had around him. Well guess what, Cam now has that type of talent again, and probably even better.

Ravens offense will be top 10 in the NFL this year. I said it before the lockout ended, and Leach, Williams, Evans and the rest of the guys only makes me feel stronger about that prediction right now.

I know some will say not with our Oline, but stick with them, I think they will show and prove this year. Ozzie will get a vet at RT to help Reid and a OC/OG for depth. We'll be just fine.

Well all of this talk about reception totals will be meaningless until we improve the O - line .

If Cousins ends up starting , expect 10 points or less every game .

I think this is the most exciting thing is that we have guys who can collectively do it all now. We can attack defenses all over the field, which we couldn't last year.

My only concern, like you said, is the O-line but I would be shocked if Ozzie didn't address our need for a T (who can cover LT because Oher's pretty much all we have there) and a C/G in case Birk isn't fit for the regular season. We sort that then we're as set as we could be for the season.

Come on man, lets be real, this Oline can't be any worse then last year.

Last year we had 3 guys catch 60+ ball, 1 with 40+ and another with 30+. So lets not act as if we won't be able to pass the ball at all.

We just want the Oline to impove so we can be much better then last year.

I tend to agree with your statement. I remember watching the 2009 combine where Pitta really excelled. He was extremely fluid in his route running with exceptional hands. I wanted this guy then not knowing we will actually land him!

Where Dickson is concerned I think he is an awesome player too. He has more speed than Pitta but seriously we are set at TE between these two!
