too much

Bear in mind, he's much, much better as a nickel corner, but he's also played well at times on the outside. Again, his consistency has just come from being in the nickel slot, which is a specialized skill.

Please don't tell me you're going to base his performance off of a few drives in the first preseason game...

so he's pretty much blanketing the opposing TE. Carr can tackle if the opposing team decide to run at him.

Carr looks ugly when he's placed in the #2CB.

Philli game, he looked like rookie to me. He's better getting his game together even though he's just a nickle back.

Honestly im not, but i want to know who got more money Josh Wilson or Chris Carr. Ive been saying the whole time id rather have Wilson over Carr and was pissed before but now im pissed and shocked at what we chose over the two.

Like i said, i just want to know who got paid more. And im hoping Wilson did so ill feel a little better. Redskins know they got a deal.

Wont matter, when Foxworth is back JSmith is going to be on the outside with him. Webb is a better blitzer and tackler in the run game, so dont be surprised if the Carr signing was just to have some veteran insurance in the backfield.

Too much. He was whipped hard by a 2nd roster of WR(backup). Im hoping this isnt the 2009 carr that we seen before. He got his fat paycheck, now he needs to step up!

Man, can't even ask about a player's salary anymore without people flipping out on you for being a doubter. Surprised nobody has slipped in an "IN OZ WE TRUST" yet.

So, we signed him for veteran presence, paid him nicely to play the nickel? He got burned, end of story. It's preseason, its okay to lose

I here you man I wanted to know the same thing you arn't going to get an ancer even if someone knows it because these people are blind and drinking to much purple Kool-Aid.Know one wants to see Ozzie made mistakes this year people think he is God and he never screws up. I know Ozzie has been good in the past but everyone makes mistakes looks like he made a few this year. We should of kept Wilson over Carr we should have not let Mason go until we knew we could replace him and we should have kept Chester.None of these guys got big contracts we could have kept them.

From what I heard on ESPN... the Ravens signed him for more than they wanted to because they panicked when all the other free-agent corners started signing elsewhere. They probably didn't expect Wilson to sign for such a reasonable deal so fast. He must have WANTED to play for the Redskins, because he didn't wait very long for other teams to bid on him. I have no idea the reason behind why he wanted to play for them, but they didn't give him some outrageous contract, and we know they're not going anywhere... so maybe Wilson has a girl in the area he wants to be close to? I really can't explain that, but the Ravens failed to re-sign their BEST corner from last year.

Not too long ago, I was the only person here who knew Chris Carr was not good. Seems like some others are finally coming around.

If this year doesn't start out well, I have a feeling there's another bandwagon of mine people might be trying to jump on!

What are you talking about? Nobody liked him, including myself, 2 seasons ago because he played terrible and got beat play after play. This past season he was the most reliable CB we had regardless if he was at the nickle or on the outside. I just wish our guys didn't play so far off of the receivers sometimes, but I guess that's what CB's that aren't in the business of shutting receivers down do. He isn't going to lock anybody down but he will make some plays and give up others so we can only hope our pass rush will be improved. Either way he will be reliable again this year but again he won't do anything special.

Carr certainly looked out of place and lethargic on just about every sigle back pedal. It's the first preseason game. He has time to improve, though I agree I don't see him as a consistent outside CB. Carr was abused pretty badly but lets hope this stuff gets cleaned up. I heard his contract was in the 12-13 million range.

That was what Wilson's was over 3 years. Carr's was near $20 mil. for 4 years.

"When the Baltimore Ravens signed cornerback Chris Carr to a four-year, $15 million contract, they didn't guarantee him a starting job."

Hopefully its not all guaranteed money and the team wouldnt take a several cap hit if released.

Lets just hope, it was offseason rust <cross fingers>

I know this thread is just a way to hate on your own player. Good job. You turned your back on him because of two passes in freaking preseason. You guys are disgusting.

It's not because of just two passes in preseason. Technically he only had like 1/2 to 3/4's of a decent season last year, but he started the year pretty rough. And he was awful for most of 09, including on returns where he was supposed to be a stud. No one is turning their back on Carr; we're just stating his obvious limitations. He has a role on this team, but probably not as a starting CB, and that's just what people are pointing out here. I like the fact he wanted to stay in Baltimore and was so enthusiastic about being re-signed, but it doesn't change the fact he got abused last night when the Eagles didn't even have their 2 best receivers on the field.

Funny how a year changes perceptions.... exactly a year ago we were all calling for this guys head, and rightfully so. He has progressed. If he takes the same leaps and bounds in his playmaking ability as he did last year, upside is through the roof for this kid.

Right now Foxworth is the #1 CB on our team and is definetly gonna start. We expect Jimmy Smith to start and eventually be the #1 CB. So Carr will be playing as the nickel which hes better at. Then a growing, improving Webb will be next.
I think we are fine with CB. We should focus on bringing in a passrusher,QB,OL.

No, he was great all year. And yes, already a number of fans are saying we should have gotten rid of Carr and kept Wilson. The OP is putting nicely the question "How much did we waste on re-signing this guy?" and that's BS.

I was the person defending him, saying he wasn't in his natural position because he wanted to try for starter. I said it several times in the gameday thread and several times since.

So what? The Ravens weren't organized in the backfield because it's preseason. DB's don't study the receiver's routes, or watch game film. They don't pair up with the WR they match best with. They're just thrown out on the field.

You think that letting Chester go and replacing Mason with Evans were mistakes? I dont see it that way.
I'd also say that Carr is a better value than Wilson considering their contracts. Ozzie has done a great job this offseason, as usual. But I don't think it's unfair to criticize him, I do it myself. I just wait and see what he does before I jump down his throat, that's all.

Got it
Pass Rusher. Antwan Odom
QB Jim Sorgi ( if you play backup to the Manning brothers you can learn something)
OL Nick Kaczur
Give each the veteran minimum
Go get em OZ
