Few things I believe must be addressed immediately:

RT - Cousins is brutal, unless we have Harewood or Reid step up and play as an NFL starting caliber T we need some serious help. Signing Gaither is no longer an option so where do we go from here???

#2 WR - It may be premature to say this but not ready to put this season in the hands of Torrey Smith. With that said Tandon Doss looks great but an NFL #2 WR right now? I think not. Marcus Smith looked terrible and have yet to see much from Reed. In the interim we need to fill this gaping hole or we will be facing 8 in the box all year. Trade for Lee Evans??? We stood by while the WR free agent market dried up but tonight was a pretty good indicator that we need to make a move.

Other than that I was very impressed by our secondary (other than Carr). Pollard is going to be a stud in our schemes and Cary Williams (if he gets a chance come WK 1) will be a stud. I love the idea of Foxworth, Smith and Williams playing corner and Webb and Carr playing nickel and dime.

Mt Cody looked like a stud and Krueger, Kindle look great. Gotta say I hope things get better for Mclain and Burgess, we are in no position to have mediocrity from them this season.

All in all I was pretty impressed with how the team has progressed other than the aforementioned WR and RT holes that we need to get filled. Lombardi in 2012?

You have valid points in your post, but IMO it is way premature to go overboard and lose any faith as of right now (not saying you're losing faith) but I'm sure there are fans out there ready to hang themselves after the first post lockout pre season game.

There are alot of things that need to be looked at, but to cast any body off from this as of right now is crazy. O-line held ground in some aspect and looked like trash in others instances. We just need to let them take this game in, make tweaks and adjustments and see what happens next week against the Chiefs.

Remember its only week 1 into the preseason. We still got another month till it matters. People are overreacting. Carr this year will be be better then how he played. Plus our WRs faced best trio of CBs. Our young WRs got shutdown. I think it may help them in the long run. The missed tackles I know will improve. I mean they just started. And after tonight theyre gonna be practicing tackleing alot more. Polland looked good. I really didnt know how fast he was. Pitta finally showed signs of potential. Hopefully we can have our TEs like the Patiots. (Grownkowski/Herandez) Dickson/Pitta. Kruger looked alot stronger and a little faster which is very good, looks like hes trying to step it up finally. Kindle looked big! Everytime he tackled someone though I got nervous. Taylor is the only thing that really scared me. I think back up QB is our biggest problem. Overall we did good for playing with so many young players IMO.

This was an excellent team to face for preseason Game 1 imo. Although the glaring holes and weaknesses were indeed painful to watch, we have some great receivers and corners to study from. That right there will help our team immensely.

No doubt about Pollard!! I'm all aboard the Reed/Pollard train, that will be a sick dynamic duo floating around back there..

The defense was basically without Reed, Lewis, Suggs, or Ngata. Yes, I know Reed was on the field, but from what I saw (not a ton) he didn't seem to be going 100%. I think it's unfair to evaluate the defense based on a performance that was without its stars.

Offensively you have the same problem. You're looking at how good the offense is when they played most of the game without Boldin, Flacco, Rice, Leach, or Birk, some of the team's best players. Without Flacco throwing it's tougher for our WRs to stand out. Torrey Smith had a good route deep, but Taylor overthrew it. Had that play gone through we would be saying what a great burner he is. And had Flacco made the throw it probably would have gone through.

I gotta say, I love your use of the word stud.

I echo what everyone else has been saying. I hear you on the issues and concerns, but it is only the preseason. I'd feel more comfortable without Cousins, with another veteran WR, and a veteran second-string QB, but I don't think we need to jump to any immediate and possibly rash decisions.

Personally, I'm more concerned with how our starting line played rather than how our backup lineman (namely Cousins) played. I expected Cousins to suck, but Oher and Grubbs played below expectations for me (but to be fair, they were both going up against sack specialists). Reid did about what I expected, but still needs work.

But one of the commentators made a great point (the Eagles announcers). The Defensive Line is a simpler concept, strictly pass rush, more of a defend the run on the way to quaterback system. The offense has to deal with stunts, slants, blitzes, other protenction schemes, and defensive adjustments so considering the shortened practice time the OL is at a disadvantage.

Well I didn't want to be over critical in the first Preseason game. Tandon Doss looks great... McClain and other Defenders have to wrap up on tackles.

Art Jones and Kruger both got some pressure early in the game, but on a few plays they didn't set the edge, to maintain run stopping ability.

Carr looked silly, and Ed reed got Mossed by Riley Cooper wow , all in 1 play..

I recall on one play, Torrey had the Great Nnamdi Asomugha beat big time. You have to give him time which our O Line wasnt really able to. Its preseason week 1. Its about learning, developing, and weeding out. Thats all it is for..

Cousins looked absolutely terrible... I really hope that Reid and Harewood can get more playing time and step up because Cousins was getting beat on both sides of line, false starting, falling down.

I did not pay attention to the center position like I wanted can anyone tell me who played Center the most in the first half??

Also I don't remember seeing James Hardy, and I wanted to see how well he could play, to see what the WR dept actualy is...

I believe for Torrey Smith to have a successful rookie season he needs to be moved around on the field ( in motion, in the slot) to create mismatches to exploit his deep speed.

T. Doss and T.Smith give me the eery feeling of ( T.Ginn and D.Bess for the Dolphins) Ginn was the higher pick because of his Speed, much like T.Smith, while Bess and Doss both were solid route runners, with possession WR skills.
-- I'm not saying Smith with end up playing like Ginn, but I do believe Doss will be more solid contributor early on this year--

Well it is the PreSeason generally speaking the #1 units of both teams will respectfully play a series or 2 to begin the game. No one wanted Ray or Ed out there til halftime, but regardless of who is on the field, consistency is expected for both units.
Although with the limited practice time there is a bit of a learning curve to work themselves into.

Did rookie CB C.Brown play any? I didn't notice him if he did play...

I saw Kindle on a few snaps and I noticed McPhee rushing as well as dropping into coverage some.
