one short note I understand it was Smiths 1st game but if in fact he is Nr 2 he will need to get it togther fast he will see guys like Namdi asamagu (i cant spell his Fn name) all year long we can not accept the excuss well he is a rookie. If that is the case then this organization failed when they did not bring in a vet for Nr 2. That well he is a rookie mess is gotta go he is Nr 2 WR on a profeesional footbal team tuff luck kid time to grow up quick!!
Actually, he won't. He's got a lot of growing to do, but he won't be lining up against top CBs every week.

You also can't expect the kid to come into the NFL and expect him to make zero mistakes. He is a rookie and as much as you seem to hate that saying, you really have to expect that from these kids. The made/make mistakes, now we get to see if they can correct those mistakes in game two this Friday. If Oz and the coaches feel like they will need a vet #2, trust and believe they will make it happen!

If we go strictly by this game then the follow needs to be done.

1)Oher back to RT, I'm sorry but he is an mediocre LT but an amazing RT. Stop wasting his talent.

2)Cousins NEEDS to be gone. A kid out of day care will have better footwork to hold his block.

I'm not jumping on the T.Smith sucks bandwagon because he is a Rookie and has had 12 days to learn everything. Cut him some slack, he may learn.

For the defense though, it was absolutely sickening. I have grown horrified by watching the D get pressure and not finish. How many times must we watch as the QB is most assuredly going to be sacked only to break free and throw for a 20 yard completion. TACKLING needs to be improved. Though it needed to be improved last year and we all saw how that worked out.

Man I am so glad I didn't get to listen to the announcers. It was nice to listen to our RaveTV announcers instead.

There are no corners like Nnamdi in the NFL. He's the best cover player in the league--Revis and Tramon Williams are the only guys close. Smith might see Revis this season, but be won't match up on Tramon Williams until he has about 18 games under his belt.

I couldn't watch much of the game, but NFl's game tracker gave the impression that Tyrod Taylor improved some through the course of the game. Saw Pitta's 27 yard reception and it was a thing of beauty. Saw Reed give up that long pass and thought that if it were a real game it would have been a pick by him, but he didn't want to take the chance on a game that didn't matter a bit.

Looking at the replay on dvr I was impressed my ellerbe. I like the energy on defense, alot of missed tackles but it's the first game of preseason also pitta looked good.

What?

This might come as a surprise, but the little things draw concern when you are taking over a team's defense. You can't get your players to tuck in their shirts. Its a part of being in uniform, but i don't expect everyone to understand that.

sloppy does not equal lazy...
1st pre-season game bro. Expect the guy to be a little sloppy and out-of-sync on his first nfl appearance.

It's early. The coaching staff, FO, scouts, etc... will get to work on it ASAP. After all, we are still the Ravens.

There's nothing to understand. I saw Cody's jersey hanging out when he ran off the field, but I'm not going to make a judgment on Pagano because of that.

I don't mind this loss at all since it's a preseason and they clearly weren't playing to their full potential, but the left o-line was looking shabby.

just watching the game on NFL network i thought Tyrod looked good at the end and should of tied it up but the pass went right through williams hands. Good game for his first NFL game

tucked in shirt is an issue you have to be kidding me lol. Casey Hampton doesnt even bother tucking his in before games, nor does Vince Wilfork. Both play for pretty established and HOF coaches.

Has our after-game thoughts been reduced to arguing over tucked-in shirts? For god sakes :34853_shakehead:

Just looked at torreys twitter page, he seems very defiant to those who think hes a bust and said hes mad at himself for not getting that pass from tyrod. People need to cut him some slack.

For what little practice he had and what little blocking he had, I think Tyrod effectively showed he could be our #2 (Not saying he proved it, but showed he had the potential).

Personally, the biggest problem other than the OL, which was dreadful, was the CB's. There was just way to many wide open passes, although its worth mentioning that Jimmy and Foxy did not get practically any PT, and they may be our top 2 corners.

Also, LaQuan looked like a beast and Parmele really flashed some ability.

Cody cant keep his jersey tucked in-----sign of an inexperienced D Coordinator.
Cody lost lots of weight and they've yet to fit him for a smaller gameday jersey (which is separate from his practice jersey). That's why he had trouble keeping his jersey tucked in.

on your negatives, its the first pre season game for everone give them a break, like i said in a nother post, all these people being negative you call your self fans wow,its first preason game,we didnt have a off season give them a break gosh.
Although I am always a very optimistic guy myself, I am getting really annoyed by people calling out others' fanhoods when they say one negative thing. And in this case the negative things said we're simply the truth.

OMG, god forbid a jersey comes untucked or something. I would hate to see what would happen if a players shoe comes untied or falls off during a play.

All in all, I think the Ravens have more to worry about as of right now. Not saying the shouldn't look pretty for game day (as I assume you would want them to look) but at least he hasn't made a sticker that says MT. CODY and slapped it on the back of his jersey (like another player did, wont name any names) but then I would say it needed to be addressed. C'MON MAN...

Glad to see people are finally getting on the Kruger bandwagon. The guy has always been insanely talented. Not his fault our coaches nearly ruined him.

I didn't get to watch the game so how did he look? I know he got a sack but performance goes beyond that obviously.

Positives:

Jimmy smith: showed some heart playing even though he didn't have to. He also showed that he is more physical than chris carr, lardarius webb, and dominique foxworth combined. He was only in for a few series but made a pretty bg impression on me. His coverage was also tight.

Terrance cody is actually looking fit. Him and ngata look like they are going to be one hell of a runstuffing combo.

Tandon Doss looks like the better rookie reciever who could come up with clutch 3rd down conversions for us in the slot.

Jah reid looked solid. Not specatacular but a pretty sizeable upgrade over cousins. Jah will only get better

Defensive scheme is vastly improved

Negatives:

Sloppy start by torrey smith. First game action with only a week of practice under his belt so I'm not to worried

Looks like cam is being cam

Oneil cousins might be the worst rt in the league

Chris carr and webb looked baaaad.

Doss, Pitta, Jones, Kindle, Krugar looked good..

Id like to see moves made on BOTH sides of the ball (After Ravens announce Ngata has signed a deal):

Defense- Trade for Samuals, we need a veteran, legitamite #1 CB... DE may not be as big as a need after seeing an improved Pass rush, but it couldnt hurt to add an Osi

Offense- Tade for Lee Evans, Sign a LT, C (Mkinney/Gaither, OHara)... We may need to use Birk as a backup with his bad knee...

I'll hit this quickly before I head out to work and go into more detail later.

Dline looked really strong. Kruger, Jones, McPhee, Cody, all looked really good. Really impressed with that group.

LBs looked good in reading and reacting, but tackling was poor. That's to be expected early on. Ellerbe, McClain, Kindle, and B.A all had their moments.

Wasn't a fan of Carr nor Webb, they'll have to improve, but Williams, Smith and Brown all seemed to play well.

Zibby was pretty quite, which isn't a bad thing, Nakamura and Pollard looked active and explosive. Those 3 shouldn't be great together.

Oline didn't play as poorly as it seemed, a lot of blitzing and no gameplaning, really didn't help them. Oher looks better, but still has work to do.

Mattison's first game at center ever, was a eventful one. I'll wait until another game or two to see what he does.

Cousins vs Reid. Reid has the upper hand right now imo. Cousins needs to be moved back inside to Gaurd.

It's hard to evaluate the running game in preseason one, as so much timing and spacing goes into it. Once the oline and Leach learn each other in games, they'll improve.

Doss and Williams looked good. Smith got some separation at couple times, but wasn't thrown to. Not bad for their 1st NFL game ever. Boldin and Rice are Boldin and Rice.

Pitta showed that even if he's the #2TE, he'll have to be on the field this year.

All in all good night because football is back. We have a lot of work to do still, but did anyone expect anything different?
