True. He looked overwhelmed tonight. I doubt he's the first WR to struggle in his first pre-season game though. He has at least more games to bounce back. We'll see if he does.

With Doss, LaQuan and Harper getting screens, you'd think Cam would have called one to Torrey. For whatever reason, he didn't.
I think those screens were option passes. If the run doesn't look good, then just flip it out to the receiver to see if he can get a solid gain

Did Anquan Boldin get any targets?
I don't believe so, no. The emphasis with the starters was on attacking the middle of the field and attempting to run the ball. They succeeded in the first part, but not the second. The Eagles did a good job of stuffing gaps. Flacco appeared to be looking for his outside targets on a couple of passes but the offensive tackles (namely Cousins) couldn't even give Flacco time. The replays were hilariously bad of Cousins getting beat.

Reid did okay, but Cousins sucked. Matt Starks is looking a lot better

Unfortunately, there's not much out their in the OT market. We will probably have to wait after some cuts to find a quality one

I thought Cousins at RT was bad. Then I saw Cousins at LT. :34853_shakehead:

You might be right. I think I heard Stan White mention them being option passes.

Thanks. I only started watching when Tyrod came in (I think the first one I saw was him overthrowing Torrey). And yes Cousins really did irritate me in pass pro. You'd think a guy that supposedly puts in so much work would be able to handle 3rd stringers but I guess not.

Really liked seeing Parmele pound the rock though that dude is sweet and very underrated.

Good luck finding a "quality" tackle amongst other teams trash.

Willie Anderson gave us a serviceable year, and he was picked up from the trash heap

Cary deserves a chance imo. He's been real good the past two years.

Webb's getting burnt a bit too much for my liking
I agree. He was the story of last year's preseason (or one of the big ones) and he didn't see much, if any, action last season despite his stellar preseason play. I think if he has another good preseason then he at least deserves a shot.

I seriously hope tomorrow is a busy day...in order....

1. Ravens announce Ngata deal
2. Ravens trade for Lee Evans
3. Ravens sign OT
4. Ravens sign OT
5. Ravens sign OG
6. Ravens cut Cousins
7. Ravens burn Cousins' jersey
8. Ravens burn the files they have on Cousins

I think our D-Line looks very promising. Kruger looking good at OLB.

Pitta is going to need a nickname lol!

We will need to work on O-Line. Looks like they are trying to put Cousins at LT to b/u Oher.

lol you guys sure you want Oher at RT now?

Torrey Smith is dissappiont to me, he is the first WR get to playbook, but no catch. no catch.. he i sthe 2nd player we pick this year. disappiont, first pregame. hope he cans catch up with the team.
Give the kid a chance before you cast him off!! Man it was his FIRST NFL game, of course he or any rookie will make mistakes. That's why these games don't count and they have training camp and practice. He will have plenty of time to look at film make some adjustments, and talk and work with Joe as well.

Oh and way off topic, I know we will be good at the TE spot. I got alot of faith in Dickson and Pitta looked great. BUT-------HEAP doesn't look right in another uniform and when he returns to the bank I hope every body gives him his HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAP of a welcome, just saying.

If I didn't know any better there were times where I might have mistook Pitta for Heap. Of all the problem areas we seem to have moving forward (RT,C,WR) I don't think TE is one of them thankfully.

I'll wait for another game or two but I would tend to agree with you. A CB tandem of Smith and Williams would be impressive at least from a size and physicality standpoint.
yep..in the 2nd quarter cary and jimmy had their guys on lockdown for the little bit of time they played together. Put Cary Williams in coach!!

As much as I like Dickson's potential, the more I see Pitta the more I like him. I don't think Hostler was that far off by saying there's a resemblance to Todd there. That first catch was absolutely fantastic. Even if Dickson gets the starts at the beginning of the season, part of me says Dennis is going to have the spot come the end of it.

Rewatching the game, and Cam's plays still suck. I've seen two post routes run right at each other, and I'm just like what the heck? Unnecessary cluttering of the field
Where are you re-watching the game or did you record it?

Good:
- Paul Kruger
- Cary Williams
- Bernard Pollard
- Joe Flacco
- Dennis Pitta
- Jalen Parmele

Bad:
- Michael Oher
- Oniel Cousins
- Chris Carr
- Tavares Gooden

Listen, I know it is the pre-season but I am worried about the Offensive Line. We don't have much depth to begin with and those that are currently starters probably shouldn't be. I don't know how much of it was the Eagle's pass-rush (even though the Steeler's pass-rush is better, so it not an excuse) but the Offensive Line commited too many penalties, gave up too many sacks and didn't give Joe Flacco and especially Tyrod Taylor (who I now feel terrible for) any time in the pocket and gave up on their blocking assignments quite a bit.

I didn't see as much from Vonta Leach and Ray Rice as I wanted because they barely played, but I am looking forward to the next pre-season games to assess the running game more.

Also, don't get all worried about Torrey Smith being a no-show; he played against Nnamdi Asomugha the 1st quarter and even when Nnamdi Asomugha sat out the 2nd quarter he still had to go up against Asante Samuel or Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie in his 1st ever NFL game situation you cannot expect that much from him. If any of you actually watched SportsCenter after the game you'd see a highlight of Torrey Smith actually beating Nnamdi Asomugha underneath in a seam route; it's just the pass protection broke down and Joe Flacco didn't see him.

I was really suprised about how Joe Flacco played with the bad offensive line play (tonight only, hopefully) and him stepping up in the pocket and making some good throws. He seemed poised. The secondary would have played better if the pass rush wrapped up the Quarterbacks and finished tackles.

That's it from me, but I think people are panicking too soon. We do need another Wide Receiver (should have gotten Steve Smith) and a Left Tackle (nobody good left in free agency), but that is about it.

Agreed. Pitta's not as fast as Dickson, but he's got some athleticism, and is more than capable of making tough grabs. I think he and Dickson could be battling for that TE spot as long as they're both here.

I think Pita rocked it I think maybe Dickson is better have not seen much of him but could both be on the feild due to our lack of WR? Send Smith and boldin deep? Anyhow again Pita was good. For what it is worth for his 1st ever NFL game Tyrod was ok 2 INT ugh and not good in red zone but that will be fixed with experiance. Defense disappointed me miss tackles i saw 2-3 savks missed and a lot of guys getting the offense in the back feild but failing to do anything other than miss and let him go on by. Also I know Rice sat good idea but I hope we have more of a run game in the reg season.

one short note I understand it was Smiths 1st game but if in fact he is Nr 2 he will need to get it togther fast he will see guys like Namdi asamagu (i cant spell his Fn name) all year long we can not accept the excuss well he is a rookie. If that is the case then this organization failed when they did not bring in a vet for Nr 2. That well he is a rookie mess is gotta go he is Nr 2 WR on a profeesional footbal team tuff luck kid time to grow up quick!!

I just looked at the numbers and apparently, we did much better against the run than I thought we did. The impression that I got sometimes watching this game (yes, I was frustrated) was "why can't we stop the run?!" They had plenty of decent, 4-6 yard gains on us, but I guess since we never allowed a big run, we did alright.
