How About Oz Now ?

ok guys now that we have seen all of the holes in the 1st pre-season game what do you give The OZ so far ? The defense was awful, the running game was less then effective and no matter who was throwing the ball against us we did not have the answer to stop them. Our best defense was them stopping them selves.

In 2 series Rice gained more from side to side then he did moving forward. Flacco got smack several times and our defense looked just confused.

It sure is a good thing that we got rid of Heap, Mason and Willis and company. Who needs experience when we could have what we have right now.

The expect top dollar for seats etc but just dump the best we have to offer. Oh thats right Mason was only our leading receiver the last few years and heap was only our best TE and Willis got us into the end zone. Who needs to score or keep the ball with a running game while our defense struggles. Why would you strip both sides of the ball in the same year ? We had a few chances to improve either side but sat idle. Welcome to 2011 and Thanks Ox and company.

Have you noticed that we did not score a touch down tonight nor did we run the ball at all with success. Sure we can compete with the steelers. Great choices again this year front office gurus. why not just enlist an entire CFL team if you want to just put any team on the field. Would save a few bucks and atleast we would not have to deal with your BS excuses and theories while we watch a team lose on all levels by 2nd and 3rd string guys stopping us.

Looks like Oz finally crapped out that lucky horseshoe. Like he ever had a clue at all.

I'm not a big fan of Ozzie but it's only game one. Yes there are some holes that need filled, adjustments to be made and so on. But lets see what happens next Friday night before we hit the panic button. Let the coaching staff evaluate the players and see whats needed for improvement.

I'll put it like this: if the team was really so bad on all levels, the game would've been even more of a blowout, much quicker. That's regardless of which string of players are in.

It's the first preseason game. The story doesn't change every preseason. Preseason is preseason. There's a reason why preseason games don't count.

The only value of preseason is in evaluating individual players' performances, specifically those fighting for a roster spot.

sure, we don't like how our squad looked coming out the gate but it is just preseason. it is the time to see what we're working with and what needs to be done to improve it. we'll be just fine for the regular season.

It appears we have a young team they will gain experiance and then they will beast. I am doubtfull this is our year we will make the playoff i think depends if we get by the Steelers in regular season becasue that is the only team we need worry about. Bungles and browns i think canbe counted out. I am happy we have a brite future one pre season games means nothing. Look at the positives today Tyrod did better than expect I know 2 INT ist NFL game he will improve. Pita, and Doss did great or D ok they did not c r a p out in the 4th quarter that is an improvment. We will be fine Oz is doing just fine.

In a shortened offseason we're a young team in our first pre season game against one of the best teams to be assembled since the great patriots team that went 18-1. It's hilarious how you start ripping on "Ox", as you call him, even though he likely isn't done making additions considering he hasn't finalized the Ngata extension yet. Be [u]patient[/u].

Pollard, Mcphee, Kruger, Cary Williams, Arthur Jones, not bad for game one of the preseason. Im going to have to agree with a lil of this post. No receivers with experience can hurt us this year. Torrey Smith may get better, but time is not a luxury we can afford right now. O- line looks terrible in pass protection, again this year. Mattison and Cousins need to be cut.

the OL needs to get stronger and more depth, we need a legitimate backup QB tyrod isnt ready, maybe next year..and I saw rookie WRs make rookie mistakes..growing pains

the pass rush looked good, the run defense looked good, there was some bad tackling at times, and the coverage wasnt great but thats going to be fixed

u guys freak out over nothing, like i said before keep your expectations in check, im not expecting anything other than i hope we go out and play the best football we can every week

This is one of the worst threads I've ever seen. You are uniformed and unnaturally emotional, nextgen (ironic name). Get your panties out of a bunch, I personally saw some amazing growth of our 2nd and 3rd year players and some shining light rookies. Hell, some players didn't even play! The "dream team" scored 13 points on us, OH NO WE ARE SCREWED...please.

At least I don't feel bad after this piss poor performance because I expected it. I have been saying this all along well at least since Ozzie cut half out starters. I have been getting gripe from everyone saying I wasn't a fan and our team will be great,we will be fine with our WR's and all the holes we now have. Pretty much telling me I didn't know what I was talking about.

Please don't say it is just pre season I don't care about the 2nd 3rd and 4th quarters Our starters looked like crap on both sides.To say it is just pre season is foolish it is preseason for the other team to and there first team looked sharp!

I will say though that the lack of depth at many key positions was scary even before today, but after watching this game, I'm even more worried. At the same time though, it's hard to take much away from the first preseason game coming off an abbreviated camp. I'll reserve judgment until at least after the third preseason game.

I would even say it was 2 because I don't think Kelly Gregg would have started over Mount Cody this year.
