Is Kindle Still Considered A Rook?

8 posts in this topic

I was wondering if Sergio is still considered a rookie because he didn't take a snap the entire season last year and if I remember correctly he wasn't even signed until midway through the season. The reason I ask is if he does well this season and contributes enough to get nominated for any awards would he be considered eligible like Blake Griffin was last year in the NBA? It's two separate sports but just curious on how that works.
Did a little research, and according to what I was able to find, which wasn't all that much, it appears that if they play a regular season game they aren't going to be a rookie. However, if they get injured in preseason game and don't play that year, they are still a rookie the following year, but there is no standard of 5 games and injury and you are still being a rookie, it is one regular season game and done in terms of rookie status.
(LINK)

So it looks like Kindle would be considered a rookie since he never logged an NFL game.

NFL.com has this under Sergio Kindle's player profile
Experience: 1st season

But under a similar guy, Ben Tate they have:
Experience: 2nd season

Cool! Thanks for the info. I don't want to jump to conclusions or anything but I was extremely excited when we drafted him and hurt by what he has been through. It would be nice to see a very good rebound from what he went through and hopefully he can stay healthy and be a solid contributor.

If he's a rookie he's going for Rookie of the Year, expect Kindle to really help out in the sack department

Do you mean Brandon Tate the WR for the Patriots? If so 2nd season would be correct. This year is his 3rd season in all.

Ben Tate is a RB with the Texans. He got hurt in the pre-season last year.
