How the heck is Ed Reed overrated?

45 posts in this topic

I was just on the espn nfl website and this dude named "KC Joyner" wrote an article about how Ed Reed is the most over paid and overrated safety in the NFL. I wasn't able to read it because im not an ESPNinsider. If any of you guys are insiders, please tell me what this dude was claiming in his article. Thanks!

WOW that is one of the funniest things I have heard lately and I have heard some funny stuff. To even say that..... let alone write about it obviously shows the guy has nothing else to do but make up false story's about a player because deep down inside he is just jealous his favorite team does not have a guy like Mr. Ed Reed, and everything he does he can back it up!!. And he doesn't go on show boating and talking like all these other players when he IS darn well good enough too. I think that guy needs to go pick on someone else and make a story like how its ridiculous the SQUEELERS made TROY POLOMALU the most PAID safety in the NFL.... when clearly ED REED IS 20x better then him.

That's your opinion. Ed Reed isn't in the HOF yet bud. Both Ed Reed and Troy Polomalu are NFL elites. 20X better is....a childish statement. An arguement you may want explore is how the Steelers Defense deploys TP. He can be anywhere on the field at the snap. I'm not so sure you can do as much w/ ER. That said, ER is definitly one of the smartest safeties in the NFL.

How can you say Ed Reed is overrated as a saftey when he is probably one of the best athletes and football players of all time. He can do it all! He used to be a QB, so he can throw, he can catch, tackle, block punts, and return punts. His first punt return in the NFL was a 60 yrd touchdown. In the past 5 seasons he has 4 of them with 5 interceptions or more! Right now he has 4 picks, so soon to be 5 out of 6 seasons with 5 picks or more. He held a record for the longest interception return for a 106 yard touchdown. The following game he had a 103 yrd return. And 2004 was no fluke! The year before he had 7 picks. He had a sack, forced fumble, fumble recovery, and touchdown on the same play! Overrated?!? He might go down in history as the best saftery of all time. He was mentured by Ray Lewis. All he needs is a ring to prove it.

Whoever said Ed Reed was overrated definately never saw him play. He's the best! End of discussion!

I agree! Jon Ogden, Ray Lewis, Jermaine Lewis, Peter Boulware, Jamie Sharper, Duane Starks, Chris McAlister, Brandon Stokley, Edwin Mulitalo, Jamal Lewis, Adalius Thomas, Todd Heap, Ed Reed, Chester Taylor, Terrell Suggs, Jarret Johnson, Ovie Mughelli, Tony Pashos, Mark Clayton, Derek Anderson, Dawan Landry, Demetrius Williams, Haloti Ngata, Sam Koch, and signed undrafted picks Priest holmes and "Hot Sauce" Bart Scott. How many of these picks have gone to the pro-bowl and how many will go to the hall of fame? Yeah, pretty much all of them!

20x better than Troy?

So..what...how much better is he than Bob Sanders? :P

Don't get me wrong, I can't diss a Raven let alone a 'Cane. But I can't honestly say Ed is way better than Troy or Bob. ;)

Of course, if C. Johnson gets in....all of them. lol!

Nice homerism. Like ed reed isn't every where on the field at one time? He has 4 ints this year.

Saying he's 20x better than anyone isn't homerism???

I gave him his due props, but he a Troy are different players. They are deployed differently and are accounted for differently. If Ed Reed had 0 int's it still wouldn't mean to me that he's having a bad year, you'd probably see them go to the other side of the field. You're not going to convince me however that he's moved around has much as Troy. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone outside of B-More who would agree with you if you tried (....that's homerism).

Troy hasn't done much in the past two years to impress me. But then again, I probably have a biased viewpoint on most Steelers players.

As do I. That's the way I feel about Ray Lewis.

I'd have to say this guy must be a crackhead. By the way, love the slogan, and the video. How'd you do that video anyway?

I'll give u the fact that he is a hard hitter, but there is no way Eddy hits harder then Sean Taylor. Ed is so many things but the hardest hitter behind B-Dawk is not one of them.

Let's not forget John Lynch.

I went to the Ravens/49'rs game afterwards Dilfer was interviewd on a post game show. He was talkign about a deep route that Ed Reed happened to get his pick on that game, he said he said it was unbelievable and that only he could have got that pick, he's the toughest saftey in the L said Dilfer.
