Fantasy Team Advice Thread

I believe we had a thread like this last year, and with all the good players we have around these boards, I thought it'd be a good idea to have one this year. As the title says, if you need perspective on who to start or sit, or about a proposed trade, fire away.

I'll start:

In my NFL.com league, I have two proposed trades to me (same guy):

I receive: WR Kenny Britt & WR Steve Breston
I send: WR Steve Johnson

or

I receive: WR Kenny Britt & RB Michael Bush
I send: WR Steve Johnson

I had drafted Mikel Leshoure, who we all know just lost his season, however I had picked up McGahee to fill his spot.

So basically Kenny Britt for Steve Johnson.... NOOOOO

Steve Johnson was nasty last year and it was his second year I believe. Fitzpatrick and Johnson have a good chemistry.

Its still too early to tell if Britt will get suspended for games. But if he doesn't. I like Britt & Bush for Steve Johnson. Britt is a candidate for the major 3rd year player breakout award. I'm high on him, but he has to be in the game and Hasselback needs to be throwing the ball.

I'm actually down on Stevie this year. He had a nice breakout season in his 3rd year, but teams will be focusing more on him instead of Evans.

Plus McFadden is probably going to miss game(s), and Bush has proven in the past to be a very viable fill-in option.

That's what I was thinking, Britt can have a great season with Hasselback, but the issue is whether or not he'll be suspended. I've never once considered the Breston trade. He's not going to be worth it in Kansas City

I loved Breaston when I thought he would remain a Cardinal w/ a new QB. But the Chiefs have to many options on their roster to make Breaston a viable option now. They drafted Baldwin for the long ball, Bowe for the intermediate, Charles will catch the swing passes. And throw in McCluster.

Considering you lost Leshore, I'd take Michael Bush. Matt Cassel isnt bad, but its hard to believe he will be anything great. Assuming Bowe improves on his numbers (including him being a TD monster), Moeaki gets more targets, McCluster continues to be involved and they give Baldwin sometime, its hard to see Breaston racking up big numbers, and it seems RB is more of a need for you at this point.

I dont really like Stevie Johnson, so I'd say its a pretty good deal, especially if you need RB depth.

That's a consensus. Me and you agree 100% on all people in this scenario.

With the Evans trade. I just went through with the Bush/Britt trade. I figure Stevie will see a lot of double teams.
Probably a smart move. I read some articles saying that Stevie's stock shouldn't change much but I find that hard to believe. He went from being primarily a slot guy last year to a WR #1. Those are some big shoes to fill.

He will be seeing additional coverage his way. Plus their O-Line is weaker. It'll be hard to have that high TD ratio again.

What are your opinions on Mike Sims-Walker? I'm really deep at RB and thin at WR (especially if Maclin misses time) but a kid is proposing Ryan Grant for Mike Sims-Walker because his receivers are horrible. I was thinking I might do the trade and then try and get a better receiver than Sims-Walker for Grant in a few days but if that didn't work and MAclin missed time I would be toast at receiver and I may hold onto him. So, how does everyone feel about Sims-Walker?

without looking at your roster, id hold on to grant for now. Grant will be the starter in GB (even if hes spliting carries) MSW is basically assured a roster spot and should get catches in McDaniels offense, i just dont know if he will be super productive.

Well that's my thought too but if I could trade Grant for a better receiver to someone who's desperate for a RB (which I'm good in) then it would be worth it. The issue would be if I failed to do that with Boldin, Harvin, MAclin and Jacoby Ford as my receivers other than Sims-Walker, I would be pretty worried.

I'd also hold onto Grant. There has to be a better deal out there. Grant will start the season as the #1 back.

We have yet to see what Sims Walker will be in the Rams offense. They are deep with WR talent, especially deep threats. Amendola, Gibson, Avery, Gilyard, Darnio Alexander. Not to mention they are thinking about bringing back Clayton.

And watching McDaniels offense last year, the ball was spread around a lot. So who knows, what it'll look like.

The trader needs to bump up the offer to his next WR at least.

I agree but I currently have Sims-Walker and he has Grant and wants to trade because his receivers are worse than mine. My need is much higher at receiver, so thats why I'm hesitant even though I would be getting the better end of the deal.

Ahhhh. Who are your other RBs? I like the trade for Grant straight up but it does depend a bit on your team. Your WRs aren't too bad. You have three #2 guys who all have upsides. Jacoby Ford could be the new DeSean Jackson. But MSW could crack that lineup.

I think I may just hold off for a little while and watch the preseason action. I have Charles, McFadden, Shonn Greene, Mike Tolbert, Marshawn Lynch and Rashad Jennings at RB. It's a 12 man auction draft set up by the way

Your right you don't need another RB. If you need a wr, you'll have to trade with a WR heavy team.

Nooooo. Steve Johnson is nice. He did really good for me last year when I played him. His value goes up more because of Ravens get Lee Evans. IMO I wouldnt do it. The only thing I dont like about Johnson is him not making the catch against the Steelers.

Johnson benefitted from having Evans drawing the double teams and allowing Steve to work against single coverage. With Evans gone, name one other receiver other than Steve that defenses have to worry about? Jones? David Nelson? Easley? Parrish? Shawn Nelson? Now Johnson is going to see those double teams that once were focused on Evans. So I really don't think Johnson is going to see 10 touchdowns this year.

Steve Johnson is very talented and sure he will get more coverage but I think Fitzpartick and him are very underrated in what they can do. If you have Fitz then keep Johnson. I think he will do better then Breaston this year definetley, but with Kenny Britt its a toss up. Theyre both really talented. I really like Britt, and him having CJ on his team is good and bad. But I just dont know. he also gets in trouble, which is kinda a lil risk. But now when I look into this trade a lil deeper and think about it, it seems more even then I thought at first. Just go with your heart lol

assuming everyone is healthy, what are everyone's thoughts on trading Jeremy Maclin and Marshawn Lynch for Miles Austin?
Hmmm. This is back to your team with the semi-weak WR core. I only have 5 players separating Maclin and Austin on my draft chart. And that is mostly because Maclin dipped because of missed time due to an undisclosed injury.

I really like Maclin if healthy. IMO he is the better fantasy option than DeSean Jackson and will give consistent production. Austin can sometimes be all over the board.

While you don't really need Lynch's services. He's still great value. I feel like the other team would get the better side of this trade. I'd really love the trade if the other person would throw in another deep WR with potential.

Needing some advice. My options for backup QB are Matt Cassel or Sam Bradford. My starter is Brady.

Which backup would you choose? Appreciate the help! :)

Bradford without hesitation. I'd kick Cassel to the curb. Bradford is in McDaniels system now. He will be throwing.

I was pondering over the two myself, I have a hard time recommending Cassell after how much he screwed me over in one of my other leagues last year.

depending on what your RB depth is...but I'd take the first proposal..Dwayne Bowe and Breaston are going to be good together, Breaston had his best season with Haley as OC in AZ
